Ryobi 18v Portable Bug Zapper - non-sponsored review
Nothing better some nights than to sit around and watch the bug zapper. Looking for a way to keep the bugs at bay well on the boat this summer I ordered one from Home Depot online and gave it a try.
So far the results have been good. I will say, it works better in the dark than during the day.
This unit uses the Ryobi Plus One 18v battery system, and can accepts either the 2Ah or the 4Ah battery. So far using the 4Ah battery, the unit runs about 12h on a single charge.

      I've sold the Highfield it was installed on a few weeks back. I do know I couldn't make it connect to Navonics early this spring. It was on a new device so I just figured it was user error. Maybe now it wasn't... I hadn't read that Garmin was dropping split screen support. Sounds like a foolish move by Garmin. But they did remove all the pre-planning function of the Web Interface, which was very foolish.

      I believe you're correct. However, I think that over all design is for boats without high rails around the edge. As pulling a strap over the top creates a low spot so snow can't run off the sides.

    I'm thinking some of these "positive" videos are paid by Sealskin. My experience was a huge headache. Just returned by SECOND Sealskin cover for a full refund. This company got me hooked by their slick marketing, pricing, and "warranty." The so-called multi-layer material was super thin, the first cover they sent was 3-4 feet too long (even though they listed the year, make and model of my boat), so I returned it for a second one that turned out 3 feet too short! Should have done my homework, read the negative reviews, then keep shopping. Would not recommend this company.

    • @AdventuresonTour

      I'll guarantee you my video wasn't paid for by sealskin. All of my product review videos are of products I've paid for myself with zero discount from the manufacturer first. Hell, my channel only has 850 subs. Most companies won't even talk sponsorship unless you've got 40k+ subs. The cover isn't perfect. It is more cost affordable than annual shinkwrap. And it does breath unlike shinkwrap. But ya, 3 winters and mine is done an in need of replacement. I'm trying to sell our boat right now to upgrade. So.im not sure if I'm going to reach out to try and get them to replace this one under warranty or not.

    The two triangle horizontal planes on the after section above the propellers was not to stop aircraft from seeing the propellers from above. They are called propeller guards and are meant to stop a tug or any vessel coming alongside and getting chewed up by the propellers. It is also to protect the propellers while coming alongside a jetty. I think someone was telling you a tall tale!

    • @AdventuresonTour
      @AdventuresonTour 23 дні тому

      Maybe it pulls double duty. The person who told us this, was retired navy and served on the sub during her final years of service. So I'd hope he wasn't telling tall tales.

    • @Trimtank
      @Trimtank 22 дні тому

      @@AdventuresonTour he was. I spent most of my career on O boats and the VICTORIA class. I retired from the RCN in 2008 and continued working on the VIC class as a private contractor for over 10 yrs. The horizontal planes are actually called stabalization fins. If their primary function was to hid the propellers from aircraft it would have been called aircraft hiding planes.....LOL Once a submarine is dived it is very difficult for any aircraft to see the submarine underwater....even at periscope depth. That was why the submarines were painted black.

      For music it still good above 120kmh, if your a fan of talk radio that starts to become harder to listen too.. As talk doesn't have the range of sound music does. Only problem I did find was trying to use voice to text. It has some type of auto mute on the mic for noise reduction. And with my Samsung at least, the voice to text isn't programmed correctly to turn off the noise reduction the way it does for phone calls.

    Damn it, now I have to have one of those. I live in SW Missouri about 50 miles from what is considered the center of the U.S. We get moist air from the Gulf and cold air coming down from Canada and it all meets right where I live so wo either get a lot of ice which can last for several days or a ton of snow which lasts a couple of days and melts away pretty fast. I have an older trac drive 32" craftsman which has never failed me, I mean it is as tough as a mule and it does have the plug in electric start, it has never failed me and really fairly easy to start, never any problems but being 70 years young, I am slowly converting everything to electric. I have the electric self-propelled mower which I love. When my Ryobi weed eater craps out, I'll go with the electric. I do have a couple of electric tools from Bauer (H.F.) a sawzall and a 20" hedge trimmer which I really like so maybe the snowblower is in my hopefully not too distant future. It's funny you mention something about the battery fires as I recently seen an advertisement for a charger that accepts Bauer batteries and I was thinking that same thing about how safe they really are. As far as my battery goes, I have never timed it but I have .74 acres minus 2 out buildings and the house equals around 3,400 s.f. and the rest I mow. I never ran the mower till it craps out, I usually cut the front, charge the battery then cut the back. While it's charging, I do exactly what you said, I weed eat with my Ryobi gas weedeater. So I have a lot of fence line to do which is a good hour and an abundance of Red Cedar, White Oak and Hickory trees. By that time, the battery is good to go for the rest of the yard. BUT, here is my goal and I am certain it is yours as well, .... (drum roll please) .... They big Kahuna, yep, the Ryobi Zero Turn!!!!!! HELL YES!!!! At least I like to dream big. When you was talking about how many watts the battery draws when charging, I found out myself when out of curiosity, I plug it into my Jackery. LOL It was charging at something like 180 WATTS!! I thought to myself "that can't be right" so I'm glad that you verified it and that I wasn't crazy. Speaking of portable power stations, that is something else I discovered recently was these batteries have power inverters for them. I know they aren't much power but would be good to keep in a go bag or camping or what ever. Bauer has them also for their batteries. The Bauer was around 39 bucks and the Ryobi 100. I really like your videos because unlike this comment, they are short and to the point. What you was saying about the price point and it may not be cheaper to go electric in the long run is probably true in most cases, but another factor to consider is what is easier for a person to use as they get older. My last gas mower crapped out on me after about 5 years due to bad gas. I changed the carb, etc and it ran fine for 2 days, on the 3rdday it ran fine for about half an hour, back fired then wouldn't start. I was done with it and bought the Ryobi mower. It will last me as long as I need it to I'm sure, it will probably outlive me. Plus!! I have saved money on a cremation coffin as the box the mower came in should be big enough if I am folded up correctly to fit in it for the Eazy Bake Oven.

    HI, just watched your review and enjoyed it. Fellow Canadian here ,but living in Thailand. I'm jealous of your price of the Spirit $99, lowest I can get it here for is $145 . My main concern is when I went to check out the phone app on Google Play, The first 30 reviews I read were people who were very frustrated with the app and were unable to connect to the phone app, and also the phone app unable to locate their cardo device. Seemed to be a large # of people with the same problem. How was your experience connecting ?. This is a big sticking point for me as I would mainly be using the phone app as I use Google maps as a driving app, and I would also need to be able to get phone calls from the wife etc. through the phone app. I'd like your opinion on this as it's hard to find true independent reviews on Cardo. If anyone out there had problems connecting their Spirit device I'd love to hear from you. Thanks

    You only mow 10 times a year? Here in Southeast Texas it is every week 6 months a year and every other week 6 months a year, so about 35 cuts a year

    • @AdventuresonTour
      @AdventuresonTour Місяць тому

      On average, yes, that's about it.. Snow on the ground 4 months of the year here. Overall 6 months of the year its dormit.The first cut this year was the 2nd week of May. 3 times in June, and now the rain is over, and the heat is moving. Grass is already starting to slow its growth. Maybe 1 cut in July and 1 in Aug. Then 2 or 3 in September, and that's it..

      Nope, CC150.. Canadian Airforce Airbus A310, tail 01. Prime Minister of Canadian and other high-end VIPs fly on it when on government business. Old paint colors as well. It's since been repainted in RCAF colors, and a out to be replaced by newer A330s. ua-cam.com/video/14F0Q4OQhuc/v-deo.htmlsi=GeRjTSEhC34-ch0x

      @@AdventuresonTour that’s awesome, how’s the lawn mower holding up?

    • @AdventuresonTour
      @AdventuresonTour Місяць тому

      Working great. I did over fertilize the back yard and we've been wounded by rain this month. So the grass is really thick. Then I forgot to cut it for almost 2 weeks. Needless to say I did have to reduce how wide of a cut I was trying to take. But even a gas mower would have bogged down in this stuff 🤣

    Thanks man for the tip about getting hydraulic brakes; better to know these things ahead of time. The chain warning too, although I kind of doubt emmo would offer an alternative but you never know until I ask. Sounds like, overall, you're not disappointed which is cool because my preference for upcoming purchase is to buy Emmo anyway - close proximity and good service the other reasons for an Emmo bike.

    Some including me had issues with the mower .It was because I was not following proper starting procedures. It woud not cut high grass. Seems like blade should be sharper . So far I like it .had push one .liked it.

      @AdventuresonTour 2 місяці тому

      I still screw up the start from time to time by not holding the button down long enough... I think they paint the blade so it doesn't rust before someone buys it. Could explain why it doesn't seem sharp enough.... Glad you like it and thanks for watching.

    I suspect this is fake. I have the same mower with a 6 amp hr battery instead of a 4, it overheats and drains in around 5 minutes. Independent tests that actually show the test all seem to show similar results.

    • @AdventuresonTour
      @AdventuresonTour 2 місяці тому

      Sorry to say it's not fake.. this one came with the 6ah battery. I show the battery right around the 2-minute mark. Yours that dies and over heats in 5 minutes is clearly a defective battery. I would be open to seeing all the independent tests showing this only runs for 5 minutes. As if that was true, Roybi would be facing a class action suit and massive product recalls. There is my raw test video linked in the video description if you don't belive me.

      @AdventuresonTour 2 місяці тому

      Audio quality is really good for what you're working with. It's not the 10 speaker Infinity system in my car. But for a pair of little 1-inch speakers, the sound is impressive. They do sell an add-on set from JBL as well. But those are a larger diameter again, so check your helmet spacing first. Thanks for watching.

    Just purchased this Ryobi push lawnmower because our riding Ryobi mower is in the shop getting new batteries after 5 years of mowing an acre. We also have a Ryobi weed eater and Blower. I love Ryobi. Their products are reliable and do a great job! The batteries are interchangeable (except on the riding mower) and that is very convenient. Better than gas in my opinion but everyone has their preference.
