Scottish Redout enjoyer and perhaps more games in the future?
Redout 2 - Neo Roppongi (F) 0:53.227
I really like Pongy F. It's an unprecedented driving track, with margins as thin as the track itself. Some insights:
The infamous S-bend at the start is best countered by actually not boosting that much beforehand. It's easier to brake and rotate when you're not already screaming past the sound barrier. Shocking, I know, but with how the game teaches you to always be boosting, this common wisdom is rare.
The embankment at 00:26 does half the steering for me, and lets me take a much more aggressive line. From there I keep drifting the ship for a smidgen more speed, and to get myself in a good angle for cutting through the next corner and into the hairpin.
The turn at 00:45 is a mystery to me. My runs resulted in a time differential of about six tenths (this run was my fastest, and almost definitely what made this an improvement over my PB). My working theory is to brake as late as possible (again, duh) but your counterstrafing into the corner should be done well in advance of the braking. Basically, try carry momentum as deep into the corner as possible.
A slight delay on reactivating the boost afterwards, just for that tiny bit of regen so I can boost all the way into the next corner. I go off the track here because gravity is a speed boost.
About 5 hours of grinding done over multiple days, all on this track to test out square deadzones for the analog sticks. Me likey :)

Imagine cuts There's still a good bit of room for refinement, as the final few seconds of the lap artfully demonstrate. However, to even start this, it's best if you cap your framerate at 60. That wall clip haunts me. A fairly straight forward lap if you're used to dealing with undulations in the track, but the frequency of them makes the difficulty here, in combination with Cairo's heat. Stack durability and a more than normal amount of strafe, and give it your best shot.

This track requires a lot from you, and there's precious margin for error when you're using the worst ship in the game. Dude, i play this every single night. Not only is the gameplay fantastic, but the soundtrack is amazing. I get F-Zero GX vibes from this game, especially when you're on the last lap.

I played the original, and have some top 100-200 records for a lot of tracks, even some top 50 or higher records. This pitch is making me really want to jump into this game and attempt some records considering the skill level I once (and hopefully still) had. Plus, RedOut still remains one of my absolute favorite racing games to date.
I've done my job, then! I will say that I found a lot of the skills from Redout 1 non-transferable to 2. The skill ceiling remains as high as ever, though. At any rate, would love to see you try it!

Don't sweat it too much, you'll get there! This is also on an older version of the game, so times are a little bit slower now.

I think one of the biggest things keeping me from diving back is the shader compilation stutters. Blame Unreal Engine 4 for that one, but I so so so wish that there was a pre-compilation phase just so there's no stutters / microstutters across the tracks. Oh.... and Ixion can go jump into a lake of lava, hahahhaa. I keep bouncing off of that levle!
Time to upgrade your gpu if your on pc, or time to get a ps5 or a series Xbox
@@malakaithedemigodnope. I have Ryzen 9 5000 series and Rtx 3080. Look up Shader compilation unreal 4. It's a known engine issue
@@malakaithedemigod Shader compilation has absolutely nothing to do with GPU, you just need to play each track once or twice and the stutters subside, until you update your gpu driver....

It really makes me feel less bad about bumping against that wall after the end jump when I see even absolute monsters like you do too. That being said, that run was impressive! I thought I had gotten much better after 200 hours, but seeing you shows me how much more room for improvement there is! I have mixed feelings, of admiration and terror! Keep up the good work! 💜
Something I try - and probably fail - to convey is the amount of attempts it takes to get to this point. Usually my streams lay this process bare, but I think it's important to highlight that everyone makes mistakes. With Postage gone, it'll be interesting to see what strategies are employed to maintain that landing speed without crashing.

How convenient I'm getting used to the tech just as the jump gets patched so you have to take it as intended! It still feels a little odd but I understand it now.

i really miss the kind of usage of the environment in the tracks as displayed by 1:31 and the pillar, its just so good, and even the rest of the track feels so much better compared to r2 where i usually dont even notice the environment
I still don't understand how CWOTC can have like a 2 seconds lead on some of these maps when others are also performing flawless laps
Firsly, thanks for the compliment 😉 Secondly, the game has changed a lot, and CW has a lot of pre-thrust times (which are inherently faster), and had used shortcuts; some have been patched since.
The game's leaderboards are a bit of a mess, to put it simply.
