They sound like they belong in a John Hughes film!
Your list was slick as hell! My top 5 are - 5 - The Cure, 4- Sprints, 3- Ekko Astral, 2-Kim Gordon, and 1- Kim Deal.
Great list! I still need to listen to the Kim Gordon album. Been on my list for a minute. Also you won the last giveaway! Lemme know if you don't want it and I'll give it to someone else!

Can’t compare Pixies 1987-1991 to Pixies 2013-? Having said that: Beneath the Eyrie 8 Head Carrier 7 Doggerel 6 Night Zombies 5-1/2
Very fair ratings
Sht up
It's great, and it brings to me joy.
That's awesome! It really is a beautiful album. Thanks for watching!
Definitely recognized the Label from American Football being signed!
Probably one of the best bands on the label.
Firstly, it's not even confirmed or denied if she is or isn't still in the CoS so to even comment about it is just speculation at this point. She was born into it and the last documented thing we have is that she attended the church in 2013 which btw is 11 years ago. The whole Danny thing, she didn't write anything for it, idk why that was mentioned here but all she did was attend the very first hearing as a spectator . To be noted it was the very first hearing and once she learned the information on him she never attended another one or spoke to him again. If you can hate on someone for going and supporting a friend then idk what to tell you man. Most things you hear on the situation are either made up or just complete speculation, because nobody actually wants to do any kind of research them self selves they would rather just listen and believe the first thing they read and hear
So first of all, it's hard to do research on this topic as the CoS is extremely secretive and does not release information outside of its organization. But based on her statement she was asked to attend, and I can only imagine who it was that asked her. While she may nit have any current ties, she also did not deny that she isn't still involved. Also my statement was very brief and I stand by it. I do not support any of the ideals of the CoS, or anyone thay associates with it. When I did this review i felt it necessary to include that statement as there was a lot of discourse around her at the time. However i do feel that putting thay aside I gave the album and her a fair evaluation and review, and actually do like her as a vocalist.
@ it is hard to do research I agree but that’s why again a lot of it is just pure speculation. I’ve tried to find out what I can but there really isn’t much is that because she hasn’t had much to do with it or is it just well hidden? Who knows. For all we know they were friends so he himself could of just asked her to attend and that’s all a friend asking her to attend. Once again more speculation, we don’t know. I just feel like people mentioning it like you did only spreads the misinformation, once their is actual proof of things it makes sense but to mention it off pure speculation rubs me the wrong way
@danswanger9816 you have won! Please dm you address in Instagram and I'll send your record. Thanks to everyone who watched and entered!

I think “Coast” was actually the first single from the album followed by “Crystal Breath” so if you were expecting more of the latter that’s your mistake? Defo one of my top 5 albums of the year.
Whil Coast was the first single, Crystal Breath was the first single I heard. Despite my expectations I still loved the album.
@ It doesn’t come across to me that you loved the album at all to be honest. More like that you found it disappointing or just mediocre. At one point you said one of the songs (Coast I think it was funnily enough) sounded like loads of other songs and gave me the sense that you thought it was unoriginal or that you’d heard it all before? With Coast, yes it does echo some music from the past and I would say that its reminiscent of Blondie’s cover of the reggae tune Tide is High” (John Holt I think) but that’s what I love about Kim, she is unique in how she can break down the elements of a song and put it through her own filter. For example, in an interview recently it was put to her that her influences are not really evident in her songs but she disagreed a little bit. Actually I think it was because she’d mentioned the music she’d listened to in her formative years and one of them was Black Sabbath and she pointed to the opening riff of “Saints” that she said was not a million miles from the riff in “War Pigs”, just as I say she hears something and puts it through her own filter. I know a couple of songs are re-recordings of songs she put out years ago on 7-inches but I think it’s an excellent album personally.
I spoke highly of most of the album and gave it a b+ overall which is a fairly strong grade. Just because I was expecting something different doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy it...
I approve. I bought both Lark's and Headhunters right after I got my first CD-player sometime early 90s. And weirdly, the Marvin Gaye album I bought randomly early 2000s and found it excellent. Dark Side of the Moon is no brainer, one of the best albums ever made. So I got 4/5 right.
Not enough people have listened to Head Hunters, and it's a real shame. Thanks for watching!
Quadrophenia?
Eh, it's OK. Not nearly as good as Tommy but still a solid album. Just not one I listen to regularly.
Sweet list!
Thanks for watching!
A very good album.
Thanks for reviewing this masterpiece, it's the best album I've heard in quite a number of years ...well worth the massive wait and I even got to the Manchester Apollo gig....WOWZER!
Yea I was very excited to review it. It's really good and gets better with each listen. Thanks for watching!
@EarWaxReviewsOfficial other than Hanky Panky which was a tribute album to Hank Williams the entire back catalogue is phenomenal. Other than Ensoulment I think Dusk is the best and as individual tracks go Giant, from Soul Mining is an absolute classic (played as finale at Manc Apollo). The The music has influenced my life since I was introduced to it in early 1990's.
I went back and listened to Dusk and loved it. I need to listen to more, but Soul Mining is and will always be one of my favorite albums of the 80s
love ambient electronic - thanks for doing these!
It's like ambient electronic/space/psychadelic rock. It's a super unique album and I think you'll enjoy it! Entered!

Ben Harper-Live from Mars.
I'm not a huge Ben Harper fan, but I'll give this one a listen.
Sincere Engineer is the best!
I'm not familiar. I'll have to check them out! Thanks for the rec!
@@EarWaxReviewsOfficial I saw Sincere Engineer open for Hot Mulligan and they were much better than them.
Bad Religion-American Jesus is the best of 1993.
That's a fantastic album. I absolutely love Bad Religion, and it just barely didn't make the cut for me. Thanks for watching!
Mommy's Little Monster by Social Distortion is the best album of 1983.
Another great album, didn't quite make my top 5 or even honorable mentions, but would probably be in the top 10 or 15. 1983 was an absolutely incredible year for music!
She is on to something, closing in on not bad.
I'd love to see her do a straight metalcore album. Or a straight synthpop album. I've gone back and listened to a few of her other albums, and it seems she was really leaning into nu metal and pop punk/alt rock. But it does seem like she's been progressively getting better.
LP of the year!
It is really good, but I have a few I believe are just a bit better. My best of 2024 video will be out soon! Thanks for watching!
Pretty good review - I'm in total agreement on the packaging but I like the music quite a bit and like the softer ones too. I'd personally go with a solid B++, maybe 87 lol.
Yea I'm sticking with my B+, but that's a solid score. Definitely have enjoyed it on my many plays since the review. Thanks for watching!
I think because of Kim's history with Pixies and then The Breeders and The Amps, people had been expecting an album that was in the vein of all of these, but with Kim you should expect the unexpected and I think this album was unexpected but to me in a good way,I love the diversity of the sound on the album.I had no hesitation in pre-ordering it and I really love the album and it was worth the wait."Crystal Breath" and "Summerland" are my stand out tracks.I think if shows how good a songwriter she actually is.(Matt) P s I got tickets for her only UK gig next year,so really excited to hear these songs live.Iove the cover art too
I 100% agree. I definitely went into this expecting it to sound a certain way, especially based off the singles. But was surprised by how beautiful it was and it really is a great album. Enjoy the show! Thanks for watching.
@@EarWaxReviewsOfficial I feel this an album that needs time, and I think the album works because it so different to what people were expecting,I also think when people hear these songs live it will give a new perspective when listening to the album.I wasn't too sure of the Breeders album "All Nerve" but I saw them live on the tour for that album and after that I really saw how good an album it is and I hope that will happen for people with this solo album from Kim (Matt)
awesome! subscribed. keep it coming pls :)
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Ight, another question. What tracks from the episodes do you want to see in the albums? (Idk if you haven't seen what is in the first 2).
Well I know the second one is called dance mode, so I'm assuming it's more of the upbeat tracks. But I'm hoping for some of the less dialogue driven episodes like Sleepy Time or Rain on the first one.
@EarWaxReviewsOfficial that will just make seeing a reaction all the better
I'll probably do it early next year, may do a live stream of it we will see.
This giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to the winner, and stay tuned for Decembers mystery box opening and giveaway. Thanks everyone for watching!!!
Hey, its unfortunate that the Bluey Rug Island Album review has its comments disabled. (Maybe you can clerify not for kids). Anways, are you planning on getting the RSD 7" variant of the Rug Island album? Bth it seems really easy to get
I totally didn't realize that setting didn't allow comments. I've changed it now. I probably won't, I generally stay away from single and 7", especially if I already have the songs. Thanks for watching!
@EarWaxReviewsOfficial that's fair, it's also so expensive bro. Another crazy thing is like to ask, would you ever be inclined to do a ranking of all the tracks in the 3 albums?
I could definitely put that on the schedule, probably after I pick up the other 2 though.
@EarWaxReviewsOfficial yeah! Although it's probably not your kind of content, I would LOVE to see a reaction to the music.
I have done reactions in the past and would be happy to do one for this.
Such a cool way to discover new music! New subscriber here
Thanks! Yea I absolutely love mystery bundles. There are a lot going on right now for black friday too!
Thanks for the review. I think it is marvelous. The quality of sound is right up there. She also sounds and looks great. In disagree strongly on the content. There are a couple songs that do nothing for me, but this record is so diverse and so dreamy. I give it a strong 8 of 10.
Thanks so much for watching. I agree that she sounds and looks amazing. But I have to admit I'm confused on which part you strongly disagree with as you gave it basically the same grade I did.
@EarWaxReviewsOfficial sorry didn't watch the whole thing. From the earlier part of the video it seemed you didn't like it. I will finsh the review
No worries, my overall thoughts are that while it wasn't the record I was expecting or wanted, it's still very good.
Thanks for the opportunity
Meechy Darko is also in Flatbush Zombies.
I discovered that after recording this. I never got super into them but dived back in and enjoyed most if what I heard.
Congratulations you have won! Please send me your shipping info on Instagram and I will send your record.
Comment. I'm gonna have to look into mystery boxes
I love them. Always a fun way to discover new music and you usually get above what you paid for in value.
TRY LISTENING TO THE LYRICS. wow
Hey all, just to clarify the rules, you simply need to comment on this video to be entered. I will close the giveaway in 1 week so Saturday 11/30/2024. Also I did end up enjoying the Meechy Darko album, so it will be a surprise album from my collection (hint: it's a 2020 numbered RSD release from a 70's rock band)
Great review dude
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch!
I loved the album but push go and vital seemed a little too mainstream rock like something that would’ve been on rock radio in 2012. But besides that loved everything else would def give an 8/10
100% agreed. Didn't love those songs but otherwise really liked the album.
Gotta love Poppy
I'm starting to
Fair review. I love Vital though. My two previous fave Poppy albums are Flux and I Disagree, so I like both her heavy and pop/punk sounds.
You're the second person to recommend Flux, so that's the next one I'm gunna listen to. I'll give I Disagree another chance, but not until I give the rest of the albums a listen.
To put it plainly ,Poppy rocks!
I was very pleasantly surprised. Thanks for watching!
my favorite album by her is "Flux" which delves into an interesting alternative rock (post-punk/grunge/shoegaze) sound. it has some of her strongest tracks imo. i love how ahe changes up her sound with every release it shows just how versatile she is.
I'm definitely going to be diving deeper into her discography after this album. Thanks for watching.
@EarWaxReviewsOfficial ofc, loved watching! subscribed for more!!
Let it be known that NEW WAY OUT was the first teaser of this album Second single, THEY'RE ALL AROUND US. Third and fourth single were released at the same time, as they showcase variety CRYSTALLIZED and THE COST OF GIVING UP.
I heard pieces of They're All Around Us prior to my full listen, but that was it. I'm glad I got to experience most of it for the first time in my first full listen. Thanks for watching.
Great list man! The Artist in the Ambulance would’ve made my top 5, tho I agree it isn’t their best album. But something about it just perfectly embodies 2003.
It's a fantastic album, but not quite as big for me as the top 5.
Meteora! <3!!! But how is blink-182 (self titled) not on your list??!!! I understand its personal but.........
It's pretty low on my Blink album rankings. Of course there are some iconic songs, but didn't quite make it.
