During the 2023 winter semester, I took the Meteorology Class with Dr. McNie. It was very eye-opening to how important weather is and how valuable the ability to interpret and predict it really is. At the end of the semester before leaving for break, I felt inspired to get some footage of the skyline from Cal Maritime with the scattered clouds. Not only for their beautiful colors but also as a ...

Now that the Fall PCCSC season is over, we finally have time to do some much needed restoring and maintenance on our CFJ fleet, J 22's, and our outboards. After about 4 hours of work, we accomplished many of the goals we set for the day such as getting the outboards running, buffing the CFJ hulls, and reorganizing our storage areas. We also box up our old sails to send off to get recycled!

Cuánto de aceite lleva el motor y el de transmisión motor Yamaha 25 4 tiempos
A veces varía según el año de fabricación del motor fueraborda. Yo consultaría el manual del propietario. ¿Qué año es el tuyo?
I know this is an old video. I have a 2017 15 horse. Hasn’t had much use. It runs great until you open it up. At that point, it cuts out and the red engine light pops on and off. Is that what yours was doing to prompt you to clean the pump?
Usually, we cleaned the pump when the outboard would stall out while trying to increase the RPM. For the red lights and what they mean, I recommend looking at the owner's manual for what they mean.
I still remember seeing the stingrays (or something similar) at the bottom of cherry cove as a boy scout in the early 90’s. Good times.
That must have been an awesome experience! 🥳
@@thecollegequarterdeck The whole experience was pretty cool with the exception of bees swarming every trash can and water spigot.
@@ElValuador That is so true tho!
Only thing is where I live I won't be able to get an oil filter for the upper unit
No amazon or anything? What about where you got the outboard from?
@@thecollegequarterdeck Action Marine in Dothan. Plus I don't like buying on-line I like to go to a store and get it right then and there
@@davros123ify Ahhh That is fair. You will have to see if there is a parts dealer near you.
Wow that’s a amazing job you have 😮
Thanks!
Another year, another helping hand. Thanks .

Huuu?
Good video. Anyone know if the motor pin inside the fuel pump, the magnetized section, should be offset?
Its been a hot sec since I made this video and don't have the outboard to check anymore.
Cómo se llama esa herramienta para sacar el filtro
Performance Tool W54117 Heavy Duty Oil Filter Wrench for Multiple Brands - Steel Construction, 3/8-Inch Drive Tool Compatibility
Performance Tool W54117 Llave para filtro de aceite de alta resistencia para varias marcas - Construcción de acero, compatibilidad con herramientas de accionamiento de 3/8 pulgadas (Google Translate)
Great videos. Any chance you could do a demonstration on how to put back together a fuel vapor separator for the same engine. I stupidly dismantled mine and am not sure how to put the pin and spring back correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.
@@ScottM1969 Ahh I would if I could, but I longer work with these outboards at my old job, Sorry!
Thank you bro from Kuwait
Any time!
Nice!!! Easy to follow and to the point! Good job
Thats the goal! Clean and simple!
An o-ring fell out of mine and I can’t find where it goes any help?
Depends on what size it is :)
After I did this, I can’t get mine started
Its a risky process, if the valves and pump is not put back together correctly, i recommend buying a new one all together.
I drained the oil from the Suzuki DF15 after about 10 hours. I left it in the bottle and after a few days a white precipitate formed from the oil at the bottom, a lot of it. What could it be and what cause could it be? New engine, only 10 hours old I also see that at high speeds, white smoke comes out of this nozzle near the cooling water nozzle
I would recommend contacting a certified dealer and share your observations with them.
Thank you sir great video
Happy I could help!
I bought a new Suzuki DF15. Can you advise me what fuel to use? PB95 or PB98?
Sorry, I am not really familiar with either fuel.

Hello I have a brand new Suzuki DF15 AL, what procedures do you recommend to get it in properly because everyone says something different??? Can you advise me how to reach it properly? Hello I mean how to swim for the first 20 hours?
Hello! I know this isn't super helpful, but the owners manual should have a detail list of steps for what you should do for breaking in the engine.

This was really fun to watch. My aunt and uncle were the care takers of Camp Cherry Valley in the 70s. They also ran a sea plan and ferry business to Long Beach. They had a pin for javelina hogs, trapped lobster and caught abalone. It's remarkable how familiar it looks even this many years later.
That's some pretty awesome family history at Cherry Valley!
I got water in the gas tank and the engine shut down. What should I do, it doesn't turn on? It is a Suzuki 20 HP Manual year 2022
Id recommend flushing the entire fuel system. You may have to buy a new fuel filter, HP Pump and LP Pump. Id start by removing the hoses and getting as much water out as possible to see if that works. May have to take it to a dealer if you feel that it is outside of your area of expertise. Adding a fuel and water separating filter in your fuel line would be good to help prevent water from making it into the engine.

That was cool.

Just saved my a$$ when I bit off more than I could chew by taking everything apart first…and…well you can guess how that turned out.

Great job! 👏🏻

Our Troop 199 from Redwood City, CA (SF Bay Area) came here in 1990, we had a blast. During our stay i'll never forget the canoe trip a few miles around the island to a private beach that we cooked dinner on and slept on the beach under the stars. Wild boars the size of a refrigerator roamed the beach at night looking for food. A huge pig came right up to my left side of my sleeping bag (of course I was terrified and had the sleeping bag covering my whole head). I'm sure most troops that live afar stop at Disneyland before the island trip and headed back north we stopped at Magic Mountain on the way home.
That sounds like an awesome experience! I only got to canoe to Emerald Bay and then hike back to Cherry Valley. Sleeping under the stars on Catalina must have been beautiful!
Excellent and interesting video. 👍
Thanks!
I changed my oil out and found a copper washer in the bottom of the waste oil, it does not appear to be leaking right now, do you think it will last 2 or 3 days and then I'm going to change the oil again, thoughts?
Definitely going to want to get a new washer and put it on.
@@thecollegequarterdeck I have the new washer, it fell into the waste oil, I'm just saying that I don't see it leaking anywhere and I think that it will last two days until i change it again
Do you have a link for the dock bumper used?
It was discontinued and so you will have to go to Taylor Made's website and see if there have a product that fits.

Really well-done
Thanks!
WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is an older motor he is working on. I could not find my manual so I added 1.6L of oil. Motor was waaaaaay to full. I had to drain our .5L because the newer motors only hold 1.1L (2021).
Yup! You should always check your manual as stated in the video before filling up your outboard as it varies from model to model.
A good, honest video. Bloopers included with good info. I'm not sure, but it appeared you wrapped the teflon tape in the wrong direction for greatest success. It will work either way if the parts screw together. But sometimes the tape will begin to unwrap while screwing the parts together, a problem that is avoided if the tape is wrapped in the right direction.
Yeah, novice move on my part at the time. I completely agree, tape in the correct directions makes life easier 👌🏼

Hey Brotha, are you deck/ Engine? Im taking a close eye at Cal Mar. Do you know any older students 30+? Any off Campus liveaboards in nearby marinas?
Im deck, there are students who are 30 or older. I'm 26 and started at CMA at 24 yrs old. I do know there is 1 student who's a liveaboard in the Vallejo marina i believe. I dont know the details but I know he exists. It may be beneficial to spend to first year on campus that way you get to meet people even if you are older. Usually they put all the older students/transfer students in a residence hall together. Thats how a met a good amount of friends my 1st year at CMA :) Let me know if you have any other questions!

I have a 2019 15 hp Suzuki. Running great yesterday for about 20 minutes and then just died and will not re-start. I watched your videos and then looked at my engine. Did they change the engine such that it lowers the injector and fuel pump bolts below the upper cowling level? Is there a way to get to the bolts?
I am unsure since I have not worked with the 2019 model. The nice part about the 2016-2017 model was that the lower cowling comes off with ease to access those lower components if needed.
@@thecollegequarterdeck I realized that after I posted the comment and was successful in removing the lower cowling and getting to the components. We removed the hose before the pump and we are getting gas to that point. So disassembled and cleaned the components in the pump. It is a manual start, so with one person holding the hose from the injector side of the pump in a bucket and the other pulling the started several times we are not getting flow. We tried checking voltage on all combinations of the plug and one of the combinations causes the meter to zero out(checking DC voltage). Would this indicate the pump is bad? Thanks in advance. We are in the Bahamas, so trying to find someone qualified and getting access to parts will be interesting! Bill Wells
Going to mass maritime...
Have fun! Best of luck! 🫡
I was planning to work for 3 months in catalina.
Sounds like a good opportunity!
Nice video and thank you for sharing. I'm trying to find out what's the problem with my tank... it get sucked in and looks like I'm having fuel restriction.🐟🪝🎣
Is the vent open on top of the tank? That way air can flow in and out, allowing the pressure in the tank to equalize.
Ótimo vídeo
