I hate the Boehm flute, it is boring - the simple system flutes, with one key or more, are better. The Boem flute has no character other than being boring. I will keep playing the better flutes.

Hello Flute Angel - I just found your channel and I want to complement you on creating a helpful archive of these great historical hymns played on flute! I do have one suggestion though - remove the numbers from before the video title and put the video number in the information area instead. Otherwise people simply won't be directed your way unless they know what number to punch in first. I know that sounds like a lot of work but I really do think you'll get more views, you deserve them!

The flute didn't replace the singer or violinist but instead they co-existed or complimented with each other even with focus although the vocalist might not be as comfortably agile as the flute or string.

In my belief, the recorder instrument exhibits weaker intonation than the flute. It is more harder to deal with ornaments and articulations with recorder than the transverse flute. However, did you know that you can perform and replace the flute with the recorder with some pieces like those by Michel Blavet contrary to popular opinion. For example, if you review Sonata in G Minor, the key register is identical with both instruments whether it was intentionally written like that or it was commonly conceived by other repertoire. The recorder can range as high as the flute but not as versatile. The recorder will usually be thought as part of the medieval era while the transverse flute continues evolving.

For a primitive instrument, the flute has survived through the periods. Primitive because the instrument remains basically the same shape despite development and growth. For an instrument that is not that common, there has been a lot of repertoire for it.

To my understanding, court musicians seem like a separate class of the 16th century from the amateurs before instruments were available to the public domain, or did people just walk up to learn and play with their inventory being lent out? Thank goodness we don't live like that any more as people can enjoy music openly and privately!
