Приєднався 2 тра 2020
New episode on the 10th of each month (less April & May).
This portable podcast is hosted and edited by Gavin Watson, a British Army veteran of 16 years. He talks to other military veterans, allowing them to share their stories and experiences from before, during and after service.
This podcast will give non-military personnel the chance to gain a better understanding of military life and gain an insight into what the transition back to civilian life can be like. These strong individuals may inspire, after dealing with diversity, resilience and possibly life changing injuries or illnesses.
If you’re a veteran missing your time in the military, this is a great way to rekindle that fire. Regardless of service, rank or time served....every veteran has an experience to share. Sometimes, they just need an opportunity to do so.
This podcast is recorded and edited in Gavin’s free time.

Legend of a bloke, not just in achievements in mentality also. As an ex cop and serving reservist, hes is admirable and a very intresting strong human
🗿
The quandary is training soldiers in peace time and then they have little chance of putting their skills into practice other than training manoeuvres. It’s a dilemma.
My Dad’s friend was in the Queens Regiment and a Burma Star holder. He got to sergeant and was always dressed immaculately.
Nice i found a terrorist's podcast
Looking good Tony!

Title is misleading lol
do explain more? That is how he started his career, the biggest part of his beginning, and there aren’t many that do start their careers like this, so we thought it was fitting. But it’s good to get other options, so please share. All the best.
@@MilitaryVeteransPodcastJust seemed a bit weird going with starting rank in this instance. Others aren't titled recruit Longballs or whoever. Title gave the impression he got booted early doors. Not criticising at all though mate, your podcasts are class.
glad you watched to find out, but no booting out. A good guy, and we just don’t meet any officers that start with this mouthful of a rank, so wanted to highlight it. Seems to have worked. Cheers for the comment though 👍
Enjoy watching and hearing these stories, interesting as everyone's experiences seem to cross over at different times. thanks for sharing.
Awesome interview and series - just one remark - post the interviewee's name
Thank you. Could you explain more about the “post the interviewee’s name” part of the comment? Curious on how we can improve after all these years, and with the guest’s name in multiple locations, across the website, thumbnail etc. All the best.
@@MilitaryVeteransPodcast sure np... i was actually searching for something on Chris Cocks in YT, but found this vid via a google search.... the title of the video is just Rhodesia Fire Force - Rhodesian Army Veteran, and in description you just had Chris.... i would have put his name in title eg Rhodesia Fire Force - Rhodesian Army Veteran Chris Cocks speaks about...
@maddog.mcewan Thanks for the feedback…we’ll take a look. All the best.
It's was Herrick 6 Murray. I was with you bud
Really enjoyed this he seems like a unique and intelligent bloke 👍
The Troubles gave a lot of people PTSD, most of them weren`t soldiers, they were the people who lived here 365 days a year, not those on a 12 week tour, which was mostly spent in a secure barracks.
Ben has earned his retirement and I can see he's enjoying it 😀 such a pleasant and modest way of talking which catches your attention from his first sentence.
Seems a great bloke
great talk Ben many chalanges along the way Stay strong Pilgrim Cheers Utrique Paratus
i was on the same tour . 3QUEENS
It's always a privilege to hear you talk about this subject, Gary. Besides the incredible experiences you have been through, the thing I have always found most impressive is the way you have found the growth potential in all of the most traumatic experiences you have been through in life: That needs bottling!
Amazing interview! I particularly liked the stories about his Oman experiences, he seems to have a great respect of the various cultures and peoples he worked with over his career. A true gentlemen.
Command was incompetent wrong people wrong roles.
Thanks Chris.Good interesting story's, well done. 😊
Alright fisce I transferred from the REME to 2PARA I met fich in meeanee and it was funny seeing him with a reme capbadge and me para redge ,I remember u taking putting a dress 👗 on in storm get in touch
Respect Airborne brother
Learn to respect your old cap badge. More men than you can ever imagine have died wearing it. Stop being like a little child. You're disrepect to it is shocking.
Emotional my brother. ❤
Aw. Fellow West German born Brit, Old man was Artillery, and due to my sense of loyalty when I joined the Army there was no other place for me to join, was bound for 29 but they'd ended their tours on the ORBAT for Afghan so changed at last min to 21 Bty. Go on the Gunners. 🎉 Lol
British veterans are awesome. Respect always.
It’s very scary to think a man’s country can be gone just like that a wake up call indeed
A brilliant inspirational soldier - thanks for your positivity and insight 🙏 🇬🇧
Struggling to sleep. Randomly started to listen to this. Brutal, Gary. Thank you for all you did for Chris. Bless your heart.
What an amazing man. Total respect 🎉
uiner Ncos
Ex 2/6 field Regiment , 1st Gulf War , after wards Malcolm Rifkind wanted rid of juiner NCOs , save money . Then few years later amalgamations happened. Knowing what I know fuck this shit i rather join the French Foreign Legion UK is screwed , woke weak king Charlie , millions of illegal immigrants , what are you defending ?
Thanks
Amazing!!! Thank you for your support.
@@MilitaryVeteransPodcast first came across you with your interview of Hugh Keir, Para reg sniper & host of the H-Hour podcast. Really enjoyed that interview
Our brilliant veterans 🎉 Awesome.
This guy hit the nail on the head about maturity, I joined up in 74 pvr 2 weeks before pass out, (was homesick) as I walking out the camp gates a SSgt said to me, you will be back. 12 months later I signed back up, the first person I saw entering that camp was that SSgt, he shook my hand and welcomed me back, the instructors were arguing which section I went with as I opted to go through basic, what a great time I had in that 18weeks , as I’d got myself ready and fit. Happy days..
Ex 2/ 6 Field , ex gulf war Would I join now , f# ck no This country is shit
Awesome guy! Thoughtful business to set up as well
His brother paddy, was my BSM and SMIG on YO Cse when I was at 34bty
His brother is one of the biggest throbbers I've ever served under. A genuinely nasty, backstabbing piece of work.
He was my section commander in training. Absolutely top bloke. Couldnt respect him more if i tried.
Good times mate
I forgot what a great storyteller Gary is. Top bloke!
I try my best
Interesting. I was the same. Early 90's. Asked to join the Army. Got told F off! Saved me! 31 year career in the RM.
was 73 Bty pre Sneaky Beaky, Sadly the Artillery are repurposing Battery Titles .
Respect!
Thank you buddy

What a bloke! With him as my NCO or commander I could have gone all the way, a true leader and inspiration. Great podcast
Thank you for your kind words
