Africa to the Arctic on £250 125cc scooters
United Kingdom
Приєднався 31 жов 2022
in February 2023 we rode our £250 scooters from North Wales through Wales, England, France, Andora to Spain on a 2,015 mile (2,224 km's) road trip. We had such a good time we have decided to leave from Malaga airport where the scooters have been since February and take them to Morocco in North Africa, head east for a while and then head north for Nordkapp in northern Noway which is in the Arctic. If we took the direct route it would be 3,446 miles (5,514 km's) but we are not taking the direct route, in fact we don't have much of plan. We will spend about a 7-10 days every six months doing this trip. we are hoping to find free places to leave the scooters between each leg of the journey.
Thanks for watching,

Days 27, 28 and 29 - Battling vomit, freezing temperatures and miles to reach Hannover.
Days 27, 28 and 29 - thank you for watching the films of our funny adventure and sorry I’ve not done a great job of these last three days of films, this is due to vomiting for four days and feeling terrible so I was in survival mode. The last few have been about getting from Bad Kissingen to Kassel Melsungen on day 27, then onto Hamelin and then day 28 to our friends house near Hannover. Our scoots are now tucked up safely until our return to them in a few months where we will head into Scandinavia.
Thanks for watching, your support and comments, it means a lot to us.

We decided to stay in Bas Kissengen for a rest day, as you will see it didn’t go quite to plan!
Day 25 - A castle, an Amphitheater and 125 miles north to Bad Kissingen
Переглядів 11621 день тому
We visited a couple of interesting places on our journey north to Bad Kissingen. It’s also interesting for you to see how Ashley uses a towel as a tooth brush!
Day 24 - Too cold for the scoot to start and the B500 part two.
Переглядів 25121 день тому
Overnight temperatures dropped so low that my scoot battery didn’t have enough power to start the engine. Eventually we got going onto the B500.
Day 23 - German B500, a ski area and DIY snow ropes
Переглядів 18021 день тому
We headed for the south of the B500 road in Germany to ride it North, stopping at Hochschwarzwald ski area for a snag and hot chocolate, today we got very very cold. After arriving at our hotel in Freudenstadt I decided to try an idea I saw someone once mention which is to use ropes instead of chains on your tyres to get grip in the snow!!
Day 22 - Another day, another country and new use for deep heat

Today we traveled from Pontarlier in France along the French / Swiss boarder and into Germany to Freiburg im Breisgau. We rode 125 miles (200km) in brutal conditions. The small roads were very icy and took a huge amount of concentration to avoid having a crash. Since the start of this epic trip on these little £250 scooters we have travelled 4,425 miles.
Day 21 - Scooter maintenance, breakdown, sleet, snow and a slow progress.

Day 21 - We travel from near Geneva airport to Pontarlier in France. After changing tyres we headed into the snow to enjoy freezing conditions and Goldfinder breaking down. We are so impressed how the Swiss and French keep their roads clear of snow, yet in the UK we can’t keep the motorways clear of just a little bit of snow!
Day 20 - Geneva in January

This is the next chapter of our trip from Africa to the Arctic on crap scooters. Today we flew from Manchester to Geneva where we left the scooters back in July, after some sorting we managed to get them running and rode about five miles to our hotel. It is good that our adventure continues.
Day 19, The end of the second leg to Geneva on the scooters, we’ve now traveled 2,210 miles.

Day 19 Not an epic day, but the end of leg two of Africa to the Arctic, we’ve traveled 2,210 miles on this adventure so far and we expect it to be another 3,000 to 3,500 miles to get us up to Nord Capp in Norway. We’ll be back to Geneva airport to continue in the autumn. Thanks for watching, Jonny and Ashley

16th July ‘24 Albertville to Les Gets, Morzine, Lac de Montriond, Les Lindarets to Thonon Les Bains. Another great day, we watched a bit of downhill mountain biking, had a nice lake swim, fed some goats and Ash enjoying fixing Gold Finger again 🤣
Day 16, a bit of a rest day with a ride on Alp d’Huez and a couple of cols.

15th July ‘24 Day 16 Today we took the 8hp scoots up Alp d’Huez and over a couple of cols we only headed in the direction of the Arctic by a few miles as the main aim was to rest.

Sunday 14th July ‘24. France. A lovely ride from Saint-Julian-de-Beauchéne to the Grotte de Choranche in the Vercors Massif. Amazing visit to the Grotte and then take a swim in a nearby cave and waterfall this evening we stayed near Grenoble.
Day 14, Off road riding up Mount Ventoux and riding a BMX track on the 125 scooters.
Переглядів 1936 місяців тому
July 13th ‘24. A brilliant day, rode up Mt Ventoux (part off road), rode some lovely roads, took the scoots on a BMX track and got the front wheel airborne and then finished the day with a lovely swim in tropical water. France is fantastic 🇫🇷
Day 13, The longest day on the adventure to the Arctic.

Day 13 of this trip. Last night we did oil changes on the scooters before a 7am start heading North East past Montpellier towards Mount Ventoux, we covered 212 miles of a not particularly interesting part of France, that’s why we put the miles in today so we can have big smiles in the mountain tomorrow.
Day 12, Overlanding on the 125cc scooters from Spain into France.

Commented on your Facebook. I'm smack bang between Bergen and Stavanger. Also ash is going to have a GOOD laugh when he says his name to Norwegian people. I will let you guys figure that out on your own.... Ask a kid 🤣
Well done chaps, you've done an incredible job... Hope you both feeling better soon... All the best👍💯
Finally some context as to where you’ve been and gone! I’ve been saying this to Ash for ages. Why either of you can’t use strava and post a screenshot I’ll never know 🤔
@@hughgriff4339 Ash is too busy fiddling with himself to do anything useful like that!
Were now watching earlier vids of you guys...I was hoping you were going to come up thro Spain via Bardenas real...Maybe next time..Keep up the good work...
👍👍
Right decision by far, between the frozen conditions and probale bugs you've picked up. Store the bikes for another day, you've done well by far.
Epic trip bro maybe you should try and patent the Maltese cross
I binge watched all your channel videos in a few days and finally caught up with the latest ones. Really enjoyed it, especially when you were at places of Schwarzwald or Heidelberg where I visited few years ago myself. Better than any netflix series :D Not even manufacturers of these scooters could have believed in such journeys. Proud of you guys. Get stronger and enjoy the process!
@@karoliuxas121 Thank you so much for watching them and all and your message, it means so much that others can enjoy watching our adventures. I’ve just uploaded the next films. It’ll be the last for a few months as we have to go back home to our jobs and prepare for the next leg of the journey which we hope will be a lot warmer! Thanks again, Jonny
If you can guys (I dunno your schedule) take a couple days off and get right before heading back out. You need a clear head on the road 👍
@@exgtt2061 we had one day off! We’ve now completed the leg of this adventure so we can recover and prep for the next leg in a few months! Thank you for watching and your message. Jonny
Rough time so time to charge your own batteries, that cold takes it's toll.
@@oxfordgreenbus thank you, a day off was really needed, unfortunately Ash is now feeling bad. Thanks for following and your comment.
Needs must eh! Enjoying this a lot. At least the sun is out for your visits to some great places. Thanks.
Good luck with the adventures..A few years back in France 2 of us had stopped at the road side to wait for others to catch up..Just like the lady in your vid we had 2 separate cars stop to see if we needed help.....Good on them..
Brass monkeys! Great that you're keeping those little wheels turning.
@@stephenmundane thank you, it is flipping hard going in the cold.
Just stumbled on your video, harsh weather, good luck 🤞
@@phil342 thank you 🙏
Now that's hardcore adventure 🥶.. Really enjoy your vlogs, keep up the great work 👍👍👍👍
Man & scooter vs ice & snow with a dose of Deep Heat. What a brilliant way to make fantastic memories! I'm really enjoying the trip. Having cycled (slowly, less than 30 miles a day) from John O'Groats to Lands End in mid-winter I can sympathise with your battle to keep warm. Onwards & northwards.
👍👍
👍👍
Keep it shiny side err ok plastic side up..
👍👍
I used to live in a house that had cave water pumped in. It was so delicious and it made your hair look stunning and your nails grow strong and long. I hope you tried a sip LOL.
@@walkinbeauty7273 thanks for your message, we did try it and it was lovely. Thanks for watching our films.
What card do you need to enter
You two need to track your journeys on something like strava or fatmap and then post the screenshot on the vids. Then we’ll know more about your route and where you are! Currently clueless
Wow!!... What a stunning groto 👍👍👍
Thank you, is great to hear you like our crazy adventure. Maybe share a video on your social media to help spread the fun. Thanks again, Jonny and Ashley.
Im amazed you guys haven't got way more subscribers, these are just awesome adventures... All the best👍💯
Looks like great fun and great thinking to fix your brake fluid resevoir with the lino.thats thinking outside the box.enjoy the rest of your trip
Thanks for your comment, on trips like this you always have to work with what you’ve got or what you can find. Two days later and the lino is still sealing perfectly. 😊
No fckn chance you paid £250 for any of those!
You are right, I paid £130 for the scooter and Paul made the Yam out of parts which cost him a lot less than £250.
@@scooterists He needs to be careful, he'll get repetitive strain injury constantly blipping the throttle.
Good on yer fellers, all the best!
Much appreciated!
Nice bikes : ) I used to have a white Viva city 125 too, but have since given it to my brother
Having plenty of "issues " there to keep you entertained : ) Spain does look beautiful where you are at this time of year.
Brutal conditions lads. Well done for continuing on : ) Me and 2 brothers are planning a trip to the alps and Poland later in the year, i hope this spurs them on . Good luck
Cool /daft idea but brilliant...What actual date did you leave the uk....
We left on April 23rd 2024.
This would be a lot better if it wasn't "Selfie Style" . 3 weeks of looking in your face, no thanks. Bon Voyage! Catch ye when ye get back! 😂😂
I’m sorry about the selfie style, my phones front facing camera has broken!
I had an RXS100 back in the mid 1980's. Brilliant little thing for commuting round London, zipping through the traffic. The auto-lube worked on mine though. 🙂Enjoy the trip!
They are indeed great little bikes, thanks for viewing and your comment.
A great little video, thanks for sharing, what an adventure ! Though without being pedantic I must correct you, your Lexmoto is a scooter, your brothers Yamaha is a motorcycle. Apart from that I cant wait for your next installment. 👍😎
That’s a fair comment, thanks for watching 👍😁
@@scooterists Your adventure is very entertaining and shows you don't need big powerful machines to travel large distances. I have a book of bound copies of Motorcycle News from the early 1950s with a story of a man travelling Europe just after the war in 1950 on a tiny 98cc James Comet. The Comet did 140 MPG and 40mph so he probably did it quite slowly, but very cheaply . 👍😎
I have a big capacity adventure bike and to be honest, the challenge of travelling on a small bike which isn’t 100% is amazing. I highly recommend it.
@@scooterists I also have two large capacity classic bikes, but I've always had a soft spot for smaller bikes. It was on a small bike, bought from the money from my paper round that got me addicted in the first place. 👍😎
That looked a horrible ride, nothing worse wet and cold.
Frank, it was really hard. We are only prepared for good weather!
Unusual bikes and probably unusual chaps in a good way, interesting trip too what could go wrong. Good luck boys.
Thanks for watching, as you’ll see in part 3 a few things have gone wrong! 🤣🤣
Go boyz! To chain up those scoot scoots up in a foreign country then rock up to them months later and complete those journeys just blows my mind! I’m living far too much of a comfortable life 😂👍
We might not just lock em and leave them if they were £12,000 bikes, but they are £250 scooters. We have to have a bit of faith and good fortune and hopefully they’ll still be there when we fly back in a few months! Thanks for watching and your comment. Jonny
The elevation takes some getting used to, combine that with hygiene differences could explain your exhaustion. Keep hydrated. Wonderful channel, I’m sure at some point the algorithm will expose you to a much wider audience so keep the faith. It’s great content 👍 Quick question does the Modena have a carb or is it one of the later fuel injected ones? On a side note it’s worth doing a valve check with the mileage your both managing. To attempt this on the bikes you have chosen haha it’s a fabulous adventure 👍👍👍
Thanks for your message. The AJS is fuel injection and the Peugeot is carb. You are right about the valve clearances, on the next trip we are putting some time aside for maintenance. Thanks for watching and your comments. Jonny
Great concept. Nice video. Thanks for sharing:)
Hahaha
@5:50 watch out Simon Reeve, Ash is coming for your job
Well wasn't expecting Ash's underwear modelling! Good luck boys! some great views in more than one way LOL!
Yeah, the adventure continues on the Modena.
That walkway is one place I wouldn't follow you, oh no. Great video's, characters and scooters.
"Promosm" 😅
Well done both of from us here in sunny Ceredigion. I cannot see the links to donate to both the charities though.
Thank you, it was a brilliant epic adventure. It f you go onto the just giving website and search ‘Morfa’ you’ll find is there. Thank you
Such an amazing journey !!!
I’m not sure health and safety rules were applied 😂😂
We left those rules in the UK!! 🤣🤣
