Free Fractal AXE-FX III Preset - Brian May's "Wall of 9 AC30s" Touring Rig Ver. 4
This is the demo of my updated preset to simulate Brian's touring rigs for Fractal Audio Systems' AXE-FX III.

Major Updates include:
- Amp/Drive/Cab blocks: completely reworked, to optimize to the improved amp/drive algorithms after FW25. Major changes include the tweaks in Speaker Impedance Curve, which is based on my measurement of SIC of actual AC30s I have: 90's 6TBX with Blue Alnico speakers (reflected in Channel A of the Amp block) and 1963 JMI with Silver Alnico speakers (reflected in Channel C)
- Phaser block: completely reworked to simulate the FOXX Phaser Brian used in 70s. I've got an access to a very high-quality replica of the early version of FOXX Phaser, which I referenced to while tweaking by measurement and by ear. Adjust "Feedback" to control the amount of the effect.
- PEQ block: to recreate the highpass/lowpass filter inherent in the FOXX Phaser, I had to add an EQ block. It is advised that you turn on PEQ block along with Phaser block for maximum authenticity of the phaser effect.
- Filter block: completely reworked to use the newly added "Touch-Wah" mode to simulate the auto wah effect Brian used in the live version of "I Want to Break Free"
- IR Player block: now includes IRs captured from the real TC Electronic devices, which Brian has used in his system since 90s: G-Major 2 (Default) and G-Force, to simulate the characteristic tonal colouration
- Chorus block: tweaked after the measurement of a real TC Electronic G-Major 2 to reflect the delay time inherent in the chorus algorism of G-Major 2. Even if the delay time is set to zero, it still exhibits several milliseconds of delay in software domain (in addition to the latency by AD&DA conversion)
You can hear me noodling with my presets in several modes:
0:03 FOXX Phaser simulation
1:15 No effect, then Filter block engaged (from 1:25)
1:58 Chorus engaged, fully overdriven (*)
2:43 Chorus engaged, clean tone (*)
(*) A real treble booster is engaged in the signal chain. (Knight Audio Technologies RED-18, connected to Input 2)
I guess this will be the final update of the whole preset and I'd be sharing minor updates by uploading updated blocks from now on. Please check out on my thread in FAS forum, as mentioned in the above URL.

will there be any isolated IRs? didnt check the update yet but i want to try to replicate it on helix
Unfortunately not, as the IRs used in this preset is the factory IRs in Axe-FX, which is not allowed to share to public as it's Fractal Audio System's own proprietary. I rather recommend my own IR(+NAM) packs of 3 AC30s, designed for such application that involve 3 AC30s running at the same time. Personalily I use this IR pack of mine with this presets. Thank you for your lovely video. I know its hard with vox ac30s in apartments but you can try using attenuators.
I have a couple of different attenuators, but still it's too loud in an apartment when it's loud enough to get the feedback noise. I end up using my own captures for Neural Amp Modeler here, which are available at: satsuki-kuvift.stores.jp/items/66f9498e6270d02ed515e36b

Thank you. I played a Kz Red Special replica directly into an AXE FX III here. On AXE-FX III, I used the blocks in the following presets to simulate Brian's rig in the Star Licks session: - Treble Boost, Amps forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/brian-mays-wall-of-ac30-rigs-update-available-for-fw22.189154/page-2#post-2431557 - CE-1 forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/from-leon-todds-cave-boss-ce-1-ada-mp-1-chorus-eventide-micropitch.178419/#post-2174659 For the speaker cab, I used the IRs of AC30 cab recorded with Neumann U87, the very microphone used in the Star Lick session. In fact, I find using U87 the most important to recreate Star Licks session tone. As I cannot share the IRs, please look for third party AC30 IRs that has one recorded by U87.

Very nice demo. Was played with the treble booster engaged? I'm asking because lots of demos of this amp show that it has such a brittle ear piercing sound in the high frequency register which is very unpleasant to hear. And despite you rolled the tone knob ont the amp all the way up (if noticed it correctly) you have a very balanced warm tone but with a great definition of notes in the chords - just like Brian. Don't know why other demos sound so thin and mosquito-like (maybe because of the smaller 8inch speaker of the cab that comes with this amp head, or because of the placement of the microphone when recording)
Thank you for your warmest feedback and questions. As far as I remember, I engaged the internal treble booster of MV50BM, and the tone knob was around 11’o clock. And don’t forget, the volume ALL THE WAY!!! lol You raised a valid point about speaker cabs changing the tones - VOX MV50 series sound quite identical to AC30s when connected to AC30 cabs. My sound here owes a lot to my AC30/6 TBX speaker cab.
