I try to summarize eveything in all-in-one video in a shortest possible duration (15-min) ones need to know as I realized that many Penangites, like myself before diving into this project, might not be fully aware of what’s happening in Batu Kawan (only tahu ada well-known IKEA, Design Village, and some large MNC factories !!). I hope this video, along with others, can help Penangites discover not just Batu Kawan but also other key developments and projects happening in our state. Who knows? We might be missing out on opportunities right in our own backyard ! .... did we ?? 😄😅

Thank you for your view and opinion! We believe the majority of Penangites would agree with you. Too bad our existing system doesn't collect public opinion before implementing projects, especially highly visible ones like this. Decisions are often made by certain groups of people with specific interests, and this is clearly the case here. Frankly, it came as a big surprise, as almost 99% of Penangites only found out about it when they started the "floating" dock platform stage. People initially thought it was for the LRT! Hope the gov is listening and no more surprise like this in future !

I’d like to draw a comparison between two types of developments in Penang. The first type includes projects that attract significant public attention and often face opposition. The second type, which we are discussing above, is exemplified by the TNB monopole project near the Penang Bridge. Have you ever wondered why a project as significant as the TNB monopole, located so close to one of Penang's most iconic landmarks, the Penang Bridge, has not garnered more attention from the public or the media? (Unless, you all agree that the Penang Bridge is not iconic landmark for Penang!) If so, why pubic awareness on this development from the beginning? I’ve been following this TNB Monopole development closely from the very start-when construction vessels began conducting surveys and building a base next to the Penang Bridge. What’s baffling is that I couldn’t find any media coverage on it. In fact, many people I spoke to were under the impression that the base was part of the Penang LRT project. It wasn’t until I discovered a press release from a joint conference between the Penang government and TNB at The Light Hotel in Seberang Jaya that I learned more. Shockingly, the Penang government had "quietly" approved and proceeded with the project without any public awareness or transparency. This brings me to my second point: If such a strategy is acceptable for the TNB monopole project, why hasn’t the Penang government applied the same approach to the Penang LRT or Silicon Island? Why did these projects receive widespread public attention and engagement from day one? My suspicion is that the government wanted to manipulate public discourse and exert pressure on the federal government for funding purposes.

Phase 1 reclamation work started in 2015 - Dec 2019 while Phase 2 is on going and the entire reclamation will be completed by Dec 2028. While the housing projects are on-going depending on demand & supply of the market.

Yes, completely agree ! Kopi Hutan seems to be the only attraction at the far end. It would be wonderful if the entrance fee were more affordable for everyday Malaysians-The Habitat is great, but very pricey, especially for families with children, also making it a difficult choice for repeat visits ! It would be fantastic to see more nature-focused additions, like a wildlife refuge, a biosphere reserve, or even spaces like an orchid garden, mini zoo, or insect sanctuary, to enrich the experience for visitors. Accommodation is also a point of concern, as the only option is a single two-star hotel with low reviews. It’s puzzling why more high-quality accommodations haven't been developed. Perhaps land constraints, local residents' concerns, or Department of Environment regulations are holding back potential developments?? Any thought ?

Understand the concept of carrying capacity b4 suggesting more! The natural environment, its isolation & "wildness" is Penang Hill's charms & attractions.

@@World_Kaki-from_Penang The hill isn't big like the Highlands of Genting and Cameron, its rather a small hill, less development or absolute zero emission is the way.

Hi, Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O) is the main developer while some projects are subcon to Kerjaya Prospek but we are not 100% sure if both Arica and The Meg projects are theirs.

Yes you are right. The gateway is actually located offshore of 1-Gurney Condo (see timeline 8:03 in the video) where the expressway switched to undersea tunnel and re-surface again at offshore near Bagan Ajam, mainland with total length of 6.8km . However, the project is still no clear timeline while pending approvals from federal & local regulatory bodies like the Penang Port Commission .... Thank you for your question !
