Cook With Me A Budget Friendly Recipe: Czech Potato Soup - under $2 per serving!
Hey friends! Join me in cooking a budget friendly recipe: Czech potato soup! This recipe comes at around $1.8 per serving and the quantities are for 6 servings. Ideal for a quick and affordable dinner! Bonus - it is completely plant based/ vegan!
This is the Czech cookbook I got the recipe from (it's one of my favorite books to cook from!): t.ly/4jRk1
Let me know if you tried it and how it came out. Both myself and my husband and our son loved it so much!

These are tried and tested items that I actually used (and a couple of fails that I will mention in the video). So I hope you will find this list useful in your own journey, but please know that every baby is different so, what worked for us may not work or be necessary for you...

WE MADE IT! $500 for a month of groceries: week 5, $33 budget grocery haul and meals, family of 3!
Hello friends! This is the 5th and last installment of my January 2024 challenge, in which I wanted to spend no more than $500 for a month of groceries. After going slightly over budget in the previous weeks, we were left with a $33,41 budget for these last days of January. I spent $35.2 and ended up being just $1.79 over the $500 monthly budget so I take this as a major win! Let me know in the...
Realistic Frugal Grocery Budget $500 a Month, Family of 3 in Houston, TX | Week 4: $43 budget

In 2024 I'm changing my approach about groceries and trying a new (to me) system. I set up a $500 groceries budget for the month of January (as opposed to $175 a week which is what I was doing last year). I already tried this system in December and it worked so I'm making it permanent for the time being. The way I'm doing it now is doing a huge grocery haul at the beginning of the month to stoc...

We ate like it's 1959 in rural Romania but it's 2023 in Houston, TX: Full Week of Meals, family of 3
Welcome to a new grocery haul and full week of meals for our little family of 3 in Houston, TX! This time I tried to re-create some meals that my grandma would cook for her family back in 1959 in rural Romania, when my mom was 1 year old. In case you're wondering why 1959 of all times, it's because my son is now 1 year (ish) old, so I thought it would be interesting to go back in time to when m...

I actually had to start spending more money to eat healthier food because I was diabetic for 4 yrs after having my daughter…as a result the inflammation in my body has been reduced and my diabetes is in remission so my blood sugars are actually back to normal now and no medicine needed…I thank God and his food is medicine…I had to make permanent changes like buying avocado/grapeseed oil instead of canola/vegetable oil and eliminate everything with preservatives artificial dyes high fructose corn syrup and so forth …so idk if I really can do $500 this month for my family of 3 because the food I buy now is healthier but more expensive
I thought you were Czech
You got the ducks usually I see the footprints this is the first duck print I seen
Schifoso patano
Lo vorrei fare anche io ❤

You don't have to throw away all the food that is "expired", the date just means that it is good AT LEAST to that date, but often times it it good for way longer (there are so exeptions like milk, though). You should try it, most of the time it is still good, at lest a few days longer in the case of yogurts. If you're not comfortable giving that food to your baby maybe you or your husband could eat it.
Yes, that is a good point actually and I know the theory. It's just that in practice, personally I am kind of freaked out by the idea of eating anything that is expired, especially if it's dairy, eggs or meat. If it was some dry goods like idk pasta or rice, and it was expired by a few days, I would have maybe considered using it for my husband and I. But yogurt, I couldn't get myself to eat it.
Curious …are you doing any planning or saving for retirement ?
Yes! I have a 401K and Ivan has a Roth IRA 😊
Great job on meeting your goals!!
Thank you!!
*❤Great work my friend! Big LIKE 01👍Ciao have a nice new week!!!✌🌹 🌹 🌹 💙*
Thank you! You too!
I sprinkle flax seeds on my salad and oatmeal as well as adding it into sauce based dishes or just on top of pasta etc
Thanks for the ideas! It seems like I have plenty of options to go through that bag of flax seeds soon <3
Put the flax seeds in / on top of your artisan bread. They add crunch and protein. Apparently they're also good on top of yogurt, but as I don't eat yogurt, I can't say.
thank you, that is actually a good idea! I don't know how I didn't think about it lol. I'll try putting them on the bread the next time I bake it :D
❤

The pizza part was too funny !
it was indeed! and even funnier in real life! :D And having lived in Naples myself, I can tell you, American frozen pizza has nothing to do with Neapolitan pizza, but it's still delicious in its own special way <3
For being on a budget you feed your kids very well :) so nice to see the healthy side of a budget.
thank you, I appreciate you noticing this! We could go even more extreme with the food budget because that would help us achieve our financial goals even sooner, but I don't want to deprive our son of the healthy stuff. In fact looking back on all the January hauls and meals (I have the rest of the month filmed, just need to edit it) I think there's still room for improvement (more fruit, more veggies, less carbs) so I'll try to plan even better for February. Thank you for watching and stay tuned for the next ones :)
Sorry your kiddo was sick Bagels look delish
Thank you!! We powered through, he's such a trooper! And yep the bagels tasted delish as well! I'm planning to get some everything bagel seasoning in the big February haul and make them again!
Just curious ..At what time do you get up in the mornings to cook and prepare lunch for your family ?
I wake up around 6 AM on weekdays (sometimes 5:45 depending on when our son wakes up - he is "a morning person" :)). I start work at 8 AM because I work remote for a company that is in NYC, so our work hours are 9 to 5 EST (8 to 4 CST although I do sometimes have to work overtime a bit, like until our 5 or 6 PM or have to finish things up later in the evening). I don't cook much in the morning, our lunches are mostly leftovers from the previous dinner. Sometimes I make something in the morning to "complete" the lunch if there aren't enough leftovers. For breakfast I try to keep it easy with cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter toast or some variations of eggs on toast or quesadillas. It's always kind of a race because Ivan and our son are out the door at 7:30 so I can do dishes, eat and be ready to start work at 8. The bulk of my cooking happens after work, for dinner. Which actually is giving me a video idea, I can do a "day in the life as a working mom" or something like that :D
Loved your review of your cruise. Just a little tip..."Ship" 🚢 You paid way too much money to refer to the vessel as boat. 🚣♂️ Happy Anniversary. 🎉❤🎉
Hi, thank you for your comment, but I think you meant to comment on a different video on a different channel :) I never went on a cruise :)
@ElaSiromascenko1 sorry...well at least you got a comment for your video. I hope it aids your algorithm.
no worries at all! and indeed, any comment helps <3
So impressed with your organization, variety of healthy meals and at such a low price Your family is very fortunate to receive such delicious and carefully thought out meals
Thank you!! I still need to work a bit more on the variety aspect, because meal plans are still somewhat of an afterthought for me and sometimes I end up just making the same few things that don't require much brain power for me... but I'm getting there! Thank you for watching ❤
I think your goals are great! And all you channel video ideas sound interesting to me. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much! This is really encouraging ❤

Hi Ela! I'm also watching from Financial Audit, where I was pleasantly surprised to see a Romanian, like me :D I really enjoyed watching your video! I hope you will post more! Also, just a comment about the Romanian pension you talked about in Caleb's video.. I encourage you to look up if you qualify to get the 1st pilon pension (the mandatory one, you called it the equivalent of social security) because as far as I know, you need to contribute to that fund for at least 15 years to get it. It sucks, I know.. It's not a lot of money, especially if you live abroad, but I wanted to make you aware of this so maybe you won't include it in you overall pension fund. Take care!
Hi, fellow Romanian ❤ thank you so much for your kind words! And you are right... I checked just now and indeed you need to contribute for minimum 15 years. I contributed for 9 years 😢. Oh well... it is what it is. I'll try to catch up on my American retirement fund even more then. As for the videos I posted one after this one here, don't know if you got a chance to see it. And I'm actually almost done editing another one, hoping to post it tomorrow or Wednesday. Thank you for watching and for rooting for us!

Here from financial audit 😂 I hope we can get an update on y’all’s progress
Hey, thanks for stopping by! We're working towards some good progress on the emergency fund and debt repayment, so far it's pretty much going as planned hopefully we'll have some good progress to report in a few months!
