It probally exhists because an altered card is pretty much the value of a fake. Its almost like trying to bang a straight 1 over a 6.5 at the club HAHAHA

Very interesting trend with these psa 1 collectors. Didn't know about them until you mentioned it on your discord and now this video. I don't really collect slabs but if I do and have the money, I would rather go for higher grade ones since I think good quality near mint/minty cards (especially older rarer ones) are harder to come by. And like you said, its so much easier to just damage the card a bit more to make it a 1 like sprinkle a bit of water on it and let it dry or just wash the card with your clothes in the washer then dry it 😆

As an amateur economist, PSA 1s are the cheapest entry point to flipping; you can buy locally for next to nothing, send it in, then sell the premium of the PSA label/case to meta-collectors. There's also the chance that some little old lady will buy it by accident, since 1s are only one digit away from 10s. (That also makes them one of the most psychologically attractive numbers.) I would guess that many use grading services to authenticate cards, but that the vast majority of PSA's business comes from those trying to create an extra layer of loftiness, or commodity fetishism. Maybe that's a way to buy a piece of one's childhood, rather than to "regress" to childhood. I think it's sad, but have to remember that deep down, Pokemon are an artifact of post-WWII Japan, which was sorta conquered into a market where art is mass-produced. I call Pokemon reified archetypes--like in our brains, there are archetypes for seeing the world, and Pkmn cards are a way of making them real. (Like lucky cat=Meowth, Godzilla=Tyranitar, cogs=Klingklang, mammy=Jynx, etc.) So from the ground up, it's about putting a frame around human psychology. PSA 1s still count as a frame around that frame. It's still fun, though. And thanks for the entertainment/vlogs. I wouldn't comment, but I respect your authenticity in not trying to monetize this channel. Keep on rockin'. -Nathan

hi! just wanted to ask about the maximum number of pages you can fit on a d ring binder without overstuffing it. im planning to fit my national pokedex cards in 1 binder and i will have to put about 55-60 pages. will that still be good?

If you’re only focusing on modern high end there are only so many cards you can get .. the pikachu ponchos are already too expensive . Plus there are a ton of those ponchos getting grades in 10s . If you really want to collect to a million you need to start getting into some vintage like gold stars or crystal Pokemon

Look on tcgplayer at that rayquaza from ancient origins in NM its over $200 an lp is going up to.. rayquaza from roaring skies has doubled aswell recently

For Crown Zenith I blame the Sam's Club bundle. $40 for 14 packs is a crazy deal. People are buying the bundle left and right, now the market is suddenly flooded with cards from that expansion. On a different topic though, that SR Pikachu from the set is underrated!
