Panama City ARC
Приєднався 17 жов 2011
Founded in the 1950s, the Panama City Amateur Radio Club is a warm, relaxing haven for Bay County amateur radio operators to meet, chat, and eyeball folk they talk to on simplex and local repeaters during the week.
When it is all said and done, the hams of the PCARC and Bay County are a great bunch of people. They are willing to help others in any way they can, especially other hams with radio and computer-related problems and questions. The PCARC was very proud when their repeater stayed up and running after Hurricane Opal struck in 1995 and Hurricane Michael in 2018, providing much-needed emergency communications during this time of need. Many of the members were first to lend a hand for shelters in the area during the disaster, and pitched in after the disaster, during the cleanup process.
Whether you plan to be in Panama City on vacation, you're a local, or you would like to get your Amateur Radio License, the members of the PCARC would very much enjoy a visit from you.

Tom WD0HBR was my teammate during the April 2024 RaDAR Rally. Our venue was Falling Waters State Park in Florida. Tom, Suzy, and I walked the trails to four locations within four hours, making five contacts each on 20 meters. We used the FX-4CR rig on SSB with both the SOTABeams 40-30-20 link dipole and the Alexloop mag loop. The last stop was my favorite using the Elecraft KH-1 running five wa...

The added service: the reason some want this is they travel and want to be able to stay in contact. many retired travel. Many do not rag chew, Many listen, many experiment. Licensed in USA is under 1 million HF less then 1/2 Percent. more ways to play get more to try and some will move on to General and HF. Many are in Condo/HOA and limited antenna. 2 cents been a ham 1 year.

As an old school ham operator for me this the worst thing you could do to ham radio : ham communications without radio! Its not that I am not Internet competent, I work in a SCADA environment and most of our communication done over the net and fibre Ethernet network, its just that for me the whole thing is that "Ham Radio" is live over the air communication independent of established networks. If it was just about talking to people the internet is a much better medium than LF,HF,VHF or UHF so why use it?!
Very cool.
Chris this is fantastic, informative, beautiful..!!!!!
Does someone have a hot mic?
VNA is much better and easy to use
Good onya mate. I enjoyed your video!
Awesome but I'll pick it up eventually. 73 from Long Island NY. KD2ZFD
Great presentation on Ham Summer Field Day weekend =) Lots of medical this last five months .... maybe make contact on FD24 =)
I was honestly shocked how fast I got up and running on my Lenovo Thinkpad. Literally installed AFTER READING THE DOCUMENTATION (which is very important) and plugged my Xiegu G-90 in via my Digirig and after a less than 5 minute setup was using FT8 and WSJT-X. MUCH faster than setting up my Windows environment. WELL DONE, Andy!!! 73!
Can any Auto ATU be used at the feed point if the control circuit appropriately rewired / repurposed for remote use? The higher cost of remote ATU's is prohibitively expensive while generic kits for desktop use are inexpensive.
Many thanks the section on the AH-4 was great liked that a lot and useful that someone puts down this info not found anywhere else on the internet to be honest - I'd love to see some comparison results with the AH-4 with different setups like Long Wire , Doublet with ladder line etc. You put some good tips in there that could easily be missed so I watched it a few times all the best and 73s Mike R
That was a real fun QSO Party on April 27 and 28, the FQP. Lively and exciting, friendly operators. Thanks for making a UA-cam video on it to relive the moments.
Nice presentation on Florida QSO Party Greg =) de N5VMO Pat
Thanks for the discussion. I don't know who Ki5kj is I'm W1HDJ in schenectady NY. We are setting up remote operation from Schenectady's museum of Science. We'll access the club station (W2IR) from the museum floor for demonstrations and from Schenectady High School where we have an ARDC grant to bring more young folks into ham radio via the club's licensing class. We're keenly interested in folks practical experience with remote operation from multiple remote locations. We'lll be using the IC-7610 + the RSBA1-v2 software. Best Regards Paul
Thank you for making this talk available. I had a LOTW account years ago, let it lapse, moved, etc. I am ready to redeem myself an this will definitely help me.
Good info here. Being new to Alabama, and setting up a station again, this saved me some time asking about the local nets.😀
Full of info, but a bit dragged out...More concise and condensed would be best.
As soon as I open Gridtracker it starts clipping my ptt on my radio off and on and it stops when I close it any sugestions
