Mystery Project 1 - Part 5 - The Finale
Being tight on storage space in my garage/workshop, I spotted a blank space and decided to install a french-cleat inspired storage wall. Making used of some spare sheet metal (Ikea magazine rack) and some form-ply

Essentially finished, but you won't see it it use unless I build one more thing. So I will be back after that. #diywoodworking #diy #woodworkingprojects

Unfortunately, I lost some footage - so there will be a gap in the story-line... more on that later. I also filmed this POV style, and my current setup didn't do me any favours. I made some cuts on this one, as I suspect you all don't particularly want footage of the ground. I will be back - almost there, but some extra bits need doing still.

More work on the mysery project - you guys probably already figured it out right? If you couldn't tell, this was the first time doing a bevel cut with the @metabo tracksaw. Didn't realise that I had to move the clear plastic thingy until after I finished the cuts. Again, minimal editing of this video - just sped up to cut down on the time. Honestly - feel weird posting a video which to me seems...

Another experimental video, no talking, no cuts... For my first mystery project, I'm not trying to make it particularly difficult to figure out, but let's see how you all go.
Quick Dresser Top Build

The client wanted to cover the raw looking top of an antique dresser, with a nicer piece which could be painted, so I opted for my @metabo track saw rather than the router, to have better dust collection, and so I could work without having to 'baby' the tool. Probably ended up taking longer.

In this fast, throw-away world - I believe that it is worth trying to keep your 'stuff' going on for just a little bit longer. You are respecting those who put in the hours to design, make and deliver these products. Even if these people just treat it as a job, perhaps a string of passionless tasks, or just a way to make money - I think its just a way of saying "thank you". It's also acknowledg...
Bowl Carving Part III #woodcarving #diywoodworking

The third and final part, where it all comes together. In my mind, I envisioned that the final knife work would be superficial, but it ended up taking longer than I thought. I guess I wasn't brave enough to get closer to the final product with the power tools. Also, rather last minute I toned back the burnt black finish, and am happier with the result. It will take another week or so for the oi...
A bowl update - roughing the sides #woodcarving
Переглядів 94Місяць тому
Here I finish up the roughing out, and get ready to the final cuts and finishing. Part III is coming soon. In hindsight - I should have done more power carving - while I do prefer the use of hand-tools, this was meant to be a power-carved bowl with a bit of finishing knife work, it sort of ended up being the other way around.

A bit of a silly clip making some initial repairs to a broken antique table foot, damaged in transit. This initial repair was done with epoxy as there were too many voids in the wood and the break was not clean. If I get the chance, I will film the other parts of the repair.

After the completion of part 2 of the power carved bowl series, I was left with the task of finishing the rough carving. Here is a quick update on the progress of adjusting the bowl hollow.

Ahhh I see now what it is 😊
I still have no idea what it is 😅😅
Nice!!
Thanks!
What wood is that - maple?
It's camphor laurel, a pest in Australia. A friend had to clear some from his backyard and I grabbed some logs.
What's that blue tank in the corner - is it for welding?
It’s a cheap air compressor
5:56 - I was very confused 😂😂
Beautiful bowl :)
Thanks. Next time I will try to take it further with the power carving step.
The bowl turned out really beautiful.
Beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
We need to see the end product is that coming in a part three or is that all we will see of that bowl ?
There will be a part three yes
Very cool to see it coming to shape.
Thanks.
Nice commentary of the process 👌🏼
Thanks! 👍
These videos are great 😊
Glad you like them!
It looks like a very relaxed and meditative process 😊
It is!
Burnt black is new pink.
I'm really liking it - I am in the process of making a stamp of my brand so that I can fully complete these plates.
How can I purchase it❤😮?
I’m still figuring out how i will add branding. Once that is doeted, I may consider selling these.
Less is more. So lovely to see the respect you gave to this piece. Also I like the traditional repair. Bamboo nails, next level. Congrats.
Thank you very much!
