Ça fait du bien de voir leur petit milieu tt chamboulé dès que quelqu'un ose les mettre en face d'une réalité. Énormément de gens qui bossent dans un milieu dont ils ne comprennent même pas la portée. L'art n'a pas toujours à être beau, Noe les as remis face à leur propre déni et ils en sont sortie plus hypocrites que jamais. Cette vidéo est importante pour le cinéma et témoigne d'un vrai problème du milieu. Rendez vous compte qu'une seule de ces personnes à aimer le film et même lui semblait savoir que la salle allait être un chaos complet après l'avoir vu en avance.

This movie had and impact in me back then but not much as most people because I already saw I stand alone. When I saw it I thought that the rape thing was a excuse to talk about the calm before the storm, how in each life there is a tragedy waiting. And all those good moments you are living will became memories of the good times that will never came back. I think that pesimism was portraited powerfully. And to create that viseral and truthful story and generate this kind of reactions it's hard work for sure. I never understood why some people hated directors like Von Trier or Heneke because of their sad sories. It's so difficult to make someone suffer through a film. It's almost a miracle.

I see some comments talking about how this movie would get Noe canceled today because it is offensive I believe the opposite really. In my view this movie makes one of the most powerful feministic points iv seen in a movie and thus it is more relevant than ever. Today's censorship focuses on hate/humor of minorities through racism, sexism etc. This movie doesnt advocate for any of that, it only shows the cruelty of patriarchy. This movie could be released today but it d still make a shocking impression. These reactions prove how big of a stigma it is to talk about rape. Rape is a violence that we only acknowledge at a superficial level. We talk about it but never really confront anywhere in the open. It is a violence that takes place in the underpasses, in dark alleys but mostly in ''safe zones'' such as homes and it happens daily. It is a violence that we are used to being comfortable that it happens in secret. It is a violence in which the victim (very often) feels responsible for their situation (because they ''werent careful or they were provocative'') and shame about it, not the perpetrator. It is a violence based on a dominance that masculinities/men are taught that it is in their nature to exert on femininities. This is still the normality in many countries of the West for anyone deluded. Whats sad is that this normalized way of puritanical living is endorsed by the opinions of many privileged conservative women (too) regarding gender issues by repeating stereotypes of heteronormativity and of feminine responsibility. This is because the patriarchal ideology is embedded in everyone (men and women) through daily tasks, language, traditions, family etc. We learn to rationalize the inequity by seeing the ''natural'' behavior of our parents, then we are taught to rationalize the violence, to trivialize it by not projecting the trauma it causes (in films for example), to ignore it just like the bypasser in the underpass of the movie and lastly, to create a stigma around the conversation so that the victims themselves never dare to speak and blame themselves and other victims for their traumas respectively. Its impressive how this psychological mechanism of guilt society creates, works in favor of the male rapists. The trauma of the raped individual however is irreversible. The loneliness in that experience is devastating because even when they do speak, they re often treated as weak willed individuals, people feel sorry for them in a paternalistic, undermining manner traumatizing them even more in the process. This is because our highest value as a society is power, not ethos. We pretend its ethos/morality but we only value power and we despise weakness. The rapist is strong, the raped is weak. Its basically survival of the fittest with personal accountability. If you cant adapt or camouflage yourself that's on you. Morality (church?) comes into play to judge you for being violated (not pure anymore) and provocative That animalistic logic is instilled in our western culture, it is more effective than justice if not within the system of justice. It turns the attention from the social, cultural, political, ideological responsibility to a matter of personal responsibility to be secure near a man and always look over one's shoulder for a possible attack at night. Also, its remarkable that It is highly likely that a caring man's first instinct reacting to a rape of a loved one would be to defend and protect them but that only perpetuates the problem. Protection of course comes with control over their lives and over their decisions which is yet another form of tyrannical violence. ''Protection'' can only traumatize but we are taught the opposite in the Hollywood marvel movies. It turns this into a selfish matter of power, of masculine ego of the savior. Control over the protected means you own them, you can exploit them how you want and define what is right for them. It is unbelievable what man can do in the name of protection, justice, peace, democracy etc However, it is not a matter of a heroic masculinity or personal responsibility of a femininity. It is a political matter that requires a collective reaction and change. It is an issue of culture, education and justice. Patriarchy is an ideology that only through movements and communities can be fought imo. One of the questions this movie raises (at least for me) is ''what can be done for this to stop?'' and its the most urgent ''what can be done'' ive felt in a movie in a long time I dont think anybody will read this but if you did, thank you- im impressed. I saw this movie yesterday and i couldnt help myself. What do you think about it?
