im p new to the game (have like 60 hours fucking around w friends over the years but only recently started trying to learn it) and i can never hit dlight in a real match i feel like i just get smacked. is it better to use it as a punish tool rather than in neutral?
Hammer neutral is infamously hard btw, ur not alone. I’m honestly not qualified to help u with it myself. But if you want to learn a weapon the best way is to watch pros, Kyna is the best hammer player RN and he used a lot of hammer in his summer royale 2022 run, if you care abt that.

Correction/s: Recovery actually does less damage than Sair (Recovery: 17dmg Sair: 20dmg) and does the same amount of damage as Slight so you should only really use Dlight - Recovery for damage buildup if you can string the recovery into something. If you wanna do the fangwild combo, your opponent needs to be at 150 damage, and has to be standing on the crack in the right side of the stage. Pretty sure (GC) Dlight - Nair - Recovery - (CD down) Dair is only guaranteed if you catch a gravity cancel because the recovery makes them touch the ground. Pretty sure grounded Dair - Recovery isn’t true at lower dex. After Yumiko’s Dlight - Nsig true combo at 0 dmg,, it’s much more consistent to go for a (CD forward) reverse Dair instead of Sair (it’s also true) The second recovery in both Shwerpy combos is jumpable.
