Because it was actually pretty damn good...
aptly put.
One of the few Superheroes movies I watched in my childhood. It literally got me hooked on with the intro. The music by Danny Elfman. Jennifer Connelly as Betty was so good. Eric Bana kicked out of the park. From the intro scenes with the comic book like panels, the movie was really ahead of the time
Saying Hulk is Uninteresting is like saying Superman is uninteresting. People who know how to write good stories for these characters can just instantaneously shut down any and most weak criticisms of the character, since they actually know how to write the character and make a good story with him.
I think that the feeling of "downgrade" is directly derived from how they resolved the "hulk/banner conflict", they basically erased hulk as another entity, a "demon" of banner's trauma or other side of the same coin. Basically there was no "hulk" after the conflict resolution so the hulk we see, professor hulk, is just "banner" on steroids, it's as if venom in his "complete" form saying "I am venom" instead of "we are venom" something is missing
i liked the ang lee version and only got confused on what was going on after that, as there was a continuation, but it didnt really...fit
The Ang Lee Hulk will always be my favorite version. It's not only the most complete origin story, it's visual style is better than any MCU film.
good but the CGI was kinda bad, he looks like he was made of plastic my only gripe about the movie. but apart from that amazing
That's the secret. I'm always Ang Lee.
I really like and appreciate certain aspects of this movie. The acting is top notch. Elfman's musical score is great. I love the design of The Hulk. And much more. But... THE moment that absolutely ruins this movie for me.... When Banner says that he actually likes turning into The Hulk. No. Just no. NO. That is a complete and total misunderstanding and misrepresentation of the character. It will always drive me crazy. I hate it. I f*ckin' hate it.
I swear, being the actor for Hulk must be the most stress relieving experience ever. You just get to smash things or smash things with other things or other smashed things.
I don't give a sh1t about comic book accuracy or whatever the nerds say to hate on movies. It's about how it makes you feel. I loved this movie cause I was a kid who loved superheros and that's the only thing that matters.
its been great.. way better than the other hulks... "never listen to critics.. they are often shills"
His own movie was The Incredible Hulk. He literally kick-started the MCU
This movie wasn't the best, but it was the best version of The Hulk IMHO.
She Hulk did not age well
The hateboner for the MCU has people saying this movie's CGI is good rofl
this is my fav Marvel movies : Hulk (2003), Daredevil (2003), Electra, Spider-Man 1-3
The narrator in Baki describes it perfectly "Every boy dreams of being the strongest." Hulk is strongest there is, so why wouldn't we like him
Bro don't stop uploading! I loved your Ang Lee Hulk vid. You could be the next big channel! If you want that is. I love your style!!
Can I just say I really like that you titled it "Why I love..." and not something like "This movie is actually genious". I think I see so many of those arguably click-baity titles and I'm no longer interested in discussions that pretend opinions about art is anything but subjective. I want to hear people express their own subjective opinions about art because that is interesting. I don't need echo chambers that thinks just like me and I don't need someone who just tries to tell me that something is objectivly good or not. You express your perspective and thoughts very well and it is very interesting to me. :)
Mark ruffilo was the DEI hire
Thank you for reigniting the fire for HULK:()
I watched this movie with my dad at a drive in movie theatre when it came out.
I agree, Mr. Valentine. He was supposed to be one of the MAIN, ORIGINAL AVENGERS, even Defenders, in the comic books. he was a major power being in the comic world. There is only one Hulk. He should have been an anchor. BUT HE WAS put on a shelf and ripped off, to make room for EVEN LESS popular heroes that were not of the original founders, like female Captain Marvel. he was humiliated and made into a joke. he we never got to see him fight some of his toughest enemies: The Thing, Rhino, Missing Link, Juggernaut and others. And frankly, my favorite color is green. Although not my major favorite character, when I was young, I collected Hulk comics. I EVEN HAD THE GREAT BATTLE between Submariner and Hulk. We were ripped off.
My favorite villain is from DC. Silver Banshee. FAvorite hero from DC: RAVEN. Favorite hero from Marvel: Invisible Woman, even though I am not a woman. I could explain, but it would take too long. Its about science and physics. IF...if she has those powers..she should have been VERY FORMIDABLE. 2nd place for Marvel: Cap marvel [ man] and later Carol Danvers [ not the muslim girl ] as MZ. MARVEL.. Mz, not Captain. I also loved the THING from Fantastic Four. And Captain America. Those early Hulk movies were better than the crap of the MCU.
I will always love Ang Lee's Hulk because I sculpted the special edition DVD box (the one that's Hulk's fist smashing through the cover of a metal box - that's my fist).
they could do a devil/immortal hulk movie, that would go really hard with hulk and be one hell of a movie to watch bruce attempt to control his fear of himself and what the hulk could really be like. and according to the comics most of it is all mind realm kinda related so they could jump into that aspect of bruce. there is so much for them to work on with that.
this hulk theme gives me ptsd
We really needed a Jennifer Connelly red she hulk main storyline with ang-lee hulk, maybe just my opinion
The disservice they did to the Hulk after the first movie was crazy, everyone was so hyped for Avengers Hulk back in 2012 but to me it didnt feel right, i hate the MCU Hulk, the 2008 movie was okay, deff better than what they did with Avengers, but the OG Hulk to me is the most accurate and the one that made you feel his visceral emotion, i dont just want a deranged hulk smashing things i want a FURIOUS HULK ABSOLUTEY DESTROYING EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE WITH HALF PRECISION, HALF UNCONTROLLED FURY, That was OG HULK!
I'm a little late to this party, but I also think this is the best representation of the Hulk in movies. Everyone else has already said pretty much everything I'd say in this regard, but I will say this: the theme song from the 70's Incredible Hulk TV show is one of the saddest, most poignant songs I've ever heard. Called "The Lonely Man", this song still plays in my head every time I have to leave some place that I was attached to for a time, like moving to a new home or breaking up with someone I loved. The Hulk in the only character in comics that I really related to as a child and as a young man, for reasons I won't get into here, and he's still one of my favorites today. He's been woefully under-utilized in the MCU, and even more woefully butchered in character in modern adaptations... Mark Ruffalo was a terrible choice, and Hollywood politics hammered the nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned.
He can’t have his own movie because Paramount still owns the movie rights and would be due a lot of money in any hulk focused movie. As a supporting character Marvel need not pay Paramount.
Without Ang Lee's Hulk, the world wouldn't have been ready for films like The Dark Knight Trilogy. Hulk experimented with the darker tone and heavier themes before it was cool to do so.
What I find interesting about the Hulk is that he somehow represents Banner's subconscious. In his rages, he seems to mostly do the right thing almost as if by accident. It makes me wonder if this is because Bruce has become his subconscious and thus directs him from within.
I'm a couple years late, but the hulks movie rights are owned by universal, and would be in the driver seat as far as negotiating. Just fyi
I mostly dislike the fact that the film was entirely unintelligible. Thank you for making it slightly less so.
My favorite moment from incredible hulk is when hulk says "leave me alone"
The Ang Le's version dove deeper into his past, and showed that he hid his emotions even as a child. Like in the comics, how his father passed his genetic experimental DNA to his child, which saved him from the gamma exposure and unlocked the Hulk. Good video 👏🏿💪🏿👍🏿
The Hulk has always been my favorite superhero. But I absolutely hate what they turned him into... comedic relief Hulk is pathetic.
This movie was really big in my childhood cus of the spectacle and hulk doing cool stuff and rewatching it in recent times it really holds up when u understand the dialogue and heavy moments as an adult and the fact that it’s really accurate to the fact that hulk was a split personality that Bruce developed since he had a traumatic childhood in the comics which I recently learned about , this video pretty much summarized why I love this movie so much.
Never ever realized the Hulk but shot. That shit is hilarious.
yeah I only like super heros that are.. you know, super, hulk used to be cool
What happened to The Hulk? Mark Ruffalo happened. He fucking sucks.
I used to watch this movie as a kid all the time too
The professor hulk character was actually kinda cool in the comics for the short amount of time it was around. The issue is that the mcu portrayal of the character is poorly timed, poorly portrayed and just not what people wanted for the time, especially in the infinity war movies. If I remember right the comics version was still a pretty big imposing character and while it was banner, it was banner with some attitude and confidence. It’s kinda similar to the change working out and finding some successes can bring about in some people. I think banner taking control might have made for a better end of credits scene, perhaps teased after endgame and explored more in a 6 episode Disney plus series with a return back to status quo at the end. But obviously Disney was in its m-she-u diversity and girl power above all else story telling phase and we got a poorly executed she hulk series instead. As far as ang lees portrayal of hulk went you can tell he respected the power fantasy of the character but imo he was made too damn big lol.
This is my favorite iteration of the Hulk in any live action movie that’s ever been made. I felt like he was extremely well represented in this movie.💯🙏🏾
I'll never forget the Ang Lee's Hulk, growing up I actually had a lot of anger issues, I suffered a lot from jealousy and regret as well as a lack of love or adoration from my family members. I felt like no one wanted me around. The emotion that I feel the song played by Danny Elfman was actually melancholy in nature, at least to myself now I feel like I'm someone holding something inside and you feel like a bomb at times just waiting to go off. The movie does incredibly well at portraying WHY bruce and the hulk don't get along. The hulk is the representation of all his trauma and rage that he never was able to express or felt like he couldn't express.
Eric Bana is a great actor. And he's an Aussie. Bonus points.
Norton was the best Bruce and the best Hulk ever on screen. Norton Hulk is the real Hulk IMHO
