What size band saw you have on trak ?
Great trak from my city😅
That looks like slme nice, tight grained wood and nice quality lumber 👍🏼💪🏼🫡!
Why am I finding it so difficult to find your address or contact number!? Why is it not in the description of ALL of your videos and the channel description. Why is it not on your instagram page?! I’m coming up to the Lake District and was considering popping by on the way home to Kent the week after, but can’t find your address to plot my route!
@@CuteCuddlyKittens14 hi sorry for the slow replies. Upper Elms Farm Sawmill, Wr2 6rn - 07940306005 The address is on google and is on instagram but I’ll take note of what your saying and put it in the description of all my future videos thanks.
@@CuteCuddlyKittens14 ok I stand corrected it’s not on Instagram 🤣 hopefully see you soon 👍
Nice to see a redwood saw up over here. There were a fair few in private gardens after the victorians brought them back from travelling. I keep looking at Keruing for a trailer.. wonder if redwood might do similar 🤔. I’d also say, if your using a saw with no PPE don’t put it on YT 😬if anything goes wrong HSE will be on you and you won’t be covered by Insurance. It doesn’t bother me but I’ve seen what happens… they don’t cut skin, they tear it. I’ll get off my soap box now 😆🤦♂
Yeah fair point that
I still think it’s cool seeing the bandsaw cutting out planks from a trunk 😁. Lovely bit of sequoia as well, never seen it milled before 👌
Cheers, got some nice sequoia sempervirens in the next video (coastal redwood) Like the look of your mb trac would love one of them with a timber crane 🔥
@@UEF-Sawmill ooo that would be interesting timber! Thanks😊 she’s reverse drive as well. I bought her with the intention of using her for my arb work (probably would have got a timber trailer) and field work but I’ve knocked the work on the head
id love that scrap wood up the allotments for raised beds! :)
Which blade do you use?
cant wait for more videos!
Thanks glad you like it I’ll try and get a few more posted soon 👍
How much time did it take in real time to Mill this one ?
About half a day from log in the field to stacked in a pile
Looks like the hammers need changing with all the blue smoke, that’s a sign it’s not chipping properly
Had to stop at whatever that music was... Not sure why we can't just hear the machines run.
If it’s a Timelapse or a drone video I can’t record volume of the machines running it’s either silent or music so that why.
@UEF-Sawmill ah. Why reggae, though? Lol
@@billthompson8182 yeah not sure haha, was the first thing I found, I’m going to be making some videos just raw audio so that might be something soon. 👍
@@UEF-Sawmill gotcha. Have a good one.
Some lovely chunks of timber in there 😁. I’ve my eye on an old (200-300yrs old) oak that’s dying off. Must be 3or4ft diameter and probably 20ft long lol. How do you work out what size of timber to cut out? Always intrigued me.
Just depends on the piece really if your talking about the thickness we just decide a suitable thickness that leaves us enough wiggle room to level a slab once dry. Or the length is generally based on where the branches are or how much we can lift as our telehandler can only lift like 3ton
Also if it’s going to be kiln dried they need to be specific sizes to fit the kiln. So generally depends on a multitude of factors but most lengths and widths are suitable so there isn’t like a preference on length. We tend to try and just get the best out of the tree
whatever you do with it would be wrong for someone else
Yeah it’s the best scenario for us as we get to clear space and make money off it and it’s not wasted.
I loaded hardwood at a saw mill in Michigan that chipped all their slabs as a matter of course. when they were sawing the chipper an constantly. I kind of thought that it was a shame that they had no slab hardwood to sell for firewood, but they probably sell the chips to a pellet maker so the end product can be fed to an automated furnace.
i have a furnace i can burn much of that pre-years?
It’s just the time it takes to chop it up, slab wood never really goes through firewood processors well. We’ve thought about it but currently we are spread to thin and haven’t got the man power to do everything 👍
Amazing guut 🙏👍❤
Music level is way too high.
Helo the tractor is very nice. Greating from belgium
They sure are 💪💪
Where do the yew cookies get used for?
Anytime people want to make, we sell a lot of dried timber so often go for clocks, resin tables or even small tables

Evening! Just found your channel. It’s great to see a small “traditional” saw mill as there aren’t that many anymore 😔 it’s interesting to me as I’ve spent a few years(about 12) on domestic and commercial trees works, always did fancy having a mill 😆
Thanks, we’re still going strong just me and my dad. we try and keep it old school but use modern machines to make life easier 👍
The music junked another video 👎👎👎👎💩💩💩💩😬
Thats a lot of smoke.... Tough wood ? Or dull blade ?
The first lot was quite green so it often gums the blades up especially if it’s larch
Heads up mate, hide phone numbers
I like what's going on there👍 Just like home! Greetings from Norway🇳🇴
Great equipment! The job goes so smoothly😃
As smooth as it can, usually something to fix.😂
I can relate😄Just when I think everything is going smooth, something breaks🤬@@UEF-Sawmill
