      Good question. In my mind, the X-Pect is fine IF you can do some, or most, of any work it needs. I learned how to adjust valves, which was nice. Because I had to, though. It was blowing oil out through the breather tube and then out of the drains on the breather box. If this was a new Kawasaki or Honda, then I would have had it fixed under warranty. I think for the money it's been fine but an XL150 might be more attractive to others for those reasons.

      @@gypsymedic5402 I wouldn’t be too concerned if it was just valve adjustments. But some other reviews state other major issues like the ECU and 4th gear not working. The quality control isn’t there it’d be just my luck I get a lemon. Though I’m considering taking the gamble, I’ve seen some 150s marked up to $5,000. At that point I’ll buy a used ninja. But for my first street legal bike it’s going to get beat up. The main reason I want something cheap😂

    That is not even single track. Really the KLR is just too big and heavy for much off road use. Why they are known as the PIG. Once they start going over they GO and impossible to save. Out west it would be better but in the woods they suck. Wanting an XPECT for this reason.

  • @bags4930
    @bags4930 Рік тому

    Had a KLR. Big heavy PIGs. Great bikes for what they are and the newer ones even better. Mine was a 2008. Funny thing is that I'm going reverse of what you did. I'm about to pull the trigger on an XPECT 200. I want smaller and lighter for what I want to do with it but not a more off-road oriented dual sport / enduro bike so I am thinking it will fit my needs and wants. I do wish the Lifan would go a bit faster for short highway jaunts like the KLR but the PIG has 3X the motor and horsepower. I was hoping to see a comparison between the two bikes. Very familiar with the KLR but not much on the XPECT. I want the XPECT but going between that and the $1K more Lifan KPX 250 as it has 6 gears, more ponies and will do a short expressway run better than the 200 but is it worth the extra $1K $$$.

    I was yelling at my monitor like "Noooooo!!".....LOL.....I've been there, with my DRZ and Crappy stock tires....constant dropping and fishtailing....I switched to more Aggressive tires and it's a World of difference......the terrains I could barely cross before, are literally a walk in the park now, I just go right threw, barely even spinning tires...Lol. Bikes are compromise.....and so are tires. Here's how I gauge a trail......Say I gotta work hard to "cross" a rough spot, ok......well just remember you gotta come BACK threw it to leave later.....so that is my gauge, am I going to have the energy to fight my way back later? Know your limits, because you can always find another trail....If you feel it getting too deep, Turn Around, it's incredibly easy to get pinched in a bad spot.

It was running running rough but I knew the carbs would be gummed up so I took them apart and puttem together, gaskets boots, rejeted for altitude, I didn't need to dip clean but they cleaned up well. Yes the intake filter is a stock KanN style for using filter oil and washable.

    I own a 2021 BMW 1250GSA and I still jump on my 2021 Xpect for my riding around town. My entire town is 25-35mph so this is plenty. I find it more fun to drive around town then the BMW. I'm actually putting a large rear sprocket ( a JT 50 tooth). When I purchased mine in May 21' it was $1700, $2000 shipped at my door. I put the handlebar and controls on and changed the oil and haven't looked back since.

    i think the base model is a great way to go if you are hands on type or rider, replacing the doohickie, oil plug bolt, therobob, foot pegs etc seems to be the best mods to start with, but so far all the reviews say the stock handlebars are weak during falls, the hard cases are very thin and if your rough on trails will crack where they mount and the foot pegs are droopy because of the rubber mounting. and also the top model with crash bars is kind of silly because it's like 1/3rd crash protection, the engine case will be okay but the plastics and shift lever will get jacked up, 3rd party crash bars will be better for sure. and also cheaper, if i buy one of these i will get the base model also and then add to it as i improve (never even been on a motorcycle before, so i will not be doing off road trails for awhile) but i'm old, and also disabled, and also a broke loser, i'll never get one tbh, so i just watch videos like this one and dream about it

      There appear to be several reasons. 1-Consistency from the factory doesn't seem good 2-As it breaks in they need to be tweaked and I think that's fairly common for most bikes 3-they get set tight (this is a theory I read before I bought it) to help lean it out for California requirements.

    • @gypsymedic5402
      @gypsymedic5402 2 роки тому

      Police, Fire, and EMS are a good cross sampling of society, as in, biases about things. Bikers are sometimes called "Organ Donors" but, and this is a huge one, all bike accidents I have ever been to have been aggressively and appropriately investigated and the riders aggressively and appropriately treated. Biases do not spill into investigating the causes or the treatment of the patients. In the US the rules for patient care are that we are supposed to do the right thing for every patient every time and that is what I have seen. Patient care wise, on the street and in the hospitals, I have heard some smart ass comments like "What did you expect " but the care is not affected by this. If it was the bikers fault then they get charged and vice-versa with the car's driver. Accident victim's rights are the same regardless if they are on a bike, car, or a dump truck. Now, keep in mind that a lot of studies have been done around the expense for caring for motorcycle accidents. They are expensive patients. More expensive when helmets aren't worn because severely brain injured patients can live a long time after other trauma is fixed and heals. This is also a good time to point out that even when we see someone we know isn't going to have a good out come, including death, they still get the helicopter and the trauma center and all the super expensive care. Everyone deserves the chance to have a good outcome, including their families.

    Nobody complains about the 5 speed on the DR or XR because they have not had a makeover in 20 years. The KLR just had a major refit and they left the damn 5 speed! Fuel tank? Meh, after markets are everywhere for them.

    • @gypsymedic5402
      @gypsymedic5402 2 роки тому

      The comparison was for the price out the door side by side with OEM. If you add in a larger tank then the XR and DR will be an additional $300+. As to the power plant, the only thing they changed was a better charging system and fuel injection. That power plant is a proven, bullet proof, system so why change it. If they had completely redesigned the engine and tranny then sure, lets redo the gearing. But, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I have 3 other bikes; GS1000, Nomad 1600, and a Lifan X-pect 200 and they all have 5 speeds.
