After my Dad passed, my two siblings and I had to empty 35 years worth of stuff in a 4 bedroom house. My sister decided to unplug the refrigerator after we emptied it. They both lived in California (Dad's house was in CT), so once we emptied out the house I went back there a week or so later and found the kitchen floor flooded due to the freezer defrosting and leaking everywhere. I was really bummed! We pulled up the carpets to find beautiful hardwood floors and spent money on painting the whole house and it sold right away. Thankfully, we were able to be civil about who got what and wanted what stuff and then we had a giant giveaway. The stuff was old and it didn't seem right to ask for money for old TV's and VCR's that still worked (yeah, this was a long time ago, lol-now they'd go in the dumpster). What was left we put some on the curb and threw the rest out. Didn't find any money, sadly, but a friend of ours did when his Mom passed away-he and his Dad found thousands of dollars hidden all over the house! Great tips! Thanks.

I liked your description of the town, very accurate and honest. I spent many summers there back in the 50's, 60's and 70's when my grandparents owned a home on Farina Rd, as you approach Fort Revere. It had a spectacular view on the hilltop overlooking Boston Light and Harbor. A great place to grow up back then before so much development started. The house is still there and has been upgraded to a two-story home with a lookout at the top. Unfortunately the ride from Boston to Hull back then was a drag. But worth the ride just the same. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for spelling out the main tasks. My family home has a lot of antiques & antique furnishings and it's only me having to take care of this stuff & quite frankly the idea of taking all-sides pics of each item to post on craigslist or some similar/more reputable site is just too overwhelming right now. But I know it has to be done & you're saying it can be done in 30 days or so is encouraging. If you have a video which covers this situation in more detail please let me know where to look. 🙏

My Mom put money in books. We went through every book, and found $20s, $50s and $100 dollar bills. About $1200 total.

I grew up in Hingham and graduated in 1977. Wonderful childhood and so much fun in the snow as a kid. Great educational system. Now, married, and live in Jupiter, Florida, equally as beautiful for the tropics. I will always love and miss the seasons though!

What a charming lady

Oddly I was checking this out as my ancestor (Francis Sprague 1623) lived there. I was totally SHOCKED by how cheap that real estate is for such fine houses. Places on the waterfront near Toronto would be 2 Million plus along the Lakeshore. I know this my aunt lived near the home once owned by Tom Selleck when he was filming there decades ago. I live on a river in a humble home while all of my neighbours are cottagers (Million dollar cottages) in a tiny town Called Magnetawan Ontario, about a 4 hour drive north of Toronto. The Average wage here is only $15 an hour so most of the young people move away to affordable living in apartments. It is good to see there are nice places still in America.
