Hiking Mishap
Приєднався 7 кві 2009
Hi! My trail name is Mishap. I really like hiking long distances and uploading dumb videos about my trips.
PCT 2022 Day 12
The final day! I make the final steps to finishing my Triple Crown. I am so thankful to all the support my mom provided throughout the last several years in accomplishing this dream of mine. Having her here at the end meant the world to me. Thank you to everyone who has been following my vlog over the years despite long delaying in me getting things edited and uploaded. I hope these videos help future thru hikers.

PCT 2022 days 10 & 11

I did an out and back from the trailhead to where I bailed in 2021 due to the Dixie fire. I was not well and picked up by off road vehicles so I never made it to the trailhead. Needing to fill in the steps meant that I had to hike it twice but this time I got to be with my mom. After a night in a hotel my mom dropped me off at the same trailhead so I could hike the last 2 days to finish my miss...
PCT 2022 Day 9
Переглядів 64Місяць тому
I meet where I ended my hike in 2019, the snow was too deep to continue hiking despite it being much earlier in the season. Now that the forest was affected by fire, everything has changed so much.

I pass through Belden. There's a lot of burned sections in this area from the Dixie fire. My mom hikes a little with me each day too.
PCT 2022 Day 6

I slack pack the section I couldn't finish the day before due to stomach upset and a hurt shoulder. I actually found quite a few neat animals throughout the day too!
PCT 2022 Days 4 & 5

I wake up feeling really rough, I did something painful to my shoulder and I have wild stomach upset that is not setting me off to a good start for a planned UL 32 mile day. I called it off and had my mom grab me early. I still wrapped up the day with an extra 5 miles of hiking without a pack.
PCT 2022 Days 2 & 3

I continue filling in my missing section of PCT. My mom is supporting me so I can slack pack as much of it as I can to crush miles.
PCT 2022 Day 1

After Finishing the CDT my mom picked me up and we flew to California so I could complete roughly 200 miles of missing section from my PCT thru hike in 2019. This section was heavily impacted by smoke and fire from the Dixie fire in 2021 when I tried to fill it in making me have to prolong filling in my missing footsteps.

Before starting the CDT my mom and I had plans to go on a hot air balloon ride for my birthday. Unfortunately it was canceled due to high winds. Being back in New Mexico together again, this time after i've finished the trail gave us another opportunity which we were eager to take. Next I'm headed off to the PCT!

This is one for any of you that like trains! I went on a few side adventures following the CDT. I really looked forward to this train ride after finishing. It was something special to do with my mom who flew out to see me finish the trail. It was really neat getting to be on the train that I got to see from trail both earlier on in my hike when I entered the San Juans and at the end, all the fa...
CDT 2022 Day 168 Final Day

A short hike to meet up with my mom at Cumbres Pass which is the end of the CDT for me. I now have continuous footsteps from Mexico to Canada and a ravenous appetite.

It's the day before I finish the trail! I wake up to frost all over everything and i'm heavily rationing food. Hunger is definitely driving me along. For being the last full day on trail I'm really lucky to have gotten some wildlife sitings and for the sun to be out making everything look pretty. I also run into Sauce and Kid heading the opposite direction!

I continue north away from Ghost Ranch and the weather gets colder and continues to rain. It no longer feels like summer. I'm usually great at knowing how much food to pack but with the temps dropping I ate more than I rationed for early on. I had the opportunity to pick up additional items from the hiker box at Ghost Ranch, I did but I wish I picked up more. This is the start to some rough foo...
CDT 2022 Day 164

I likely heard a bobcat in the morning outside of my tent near Ghost Ranch and I believe the tracks I saw were otter and raccoon. I also saw bobcat and coyote this day as well. It was another gross exhausting cold, wet, muddy, slippery day but some of the views were spectacular.

I decide to take the Ghost Ranch Alternative. I was able to make it for dinner and pig out on the buffet there. I encountered some of the most slippery clay based mud yet and struggled with the build up on my shoes due to the recent rains. At the end of the day a huge thunderstorm came and the canyon flooded. I ended up finding a spot to camp on higher ground next to the trail. It was far from ...
Bravo! Congratulations 🎊 enjoyed following you on your journey!
Why did your hike end hear, not at Northern terminus?
@@lenoredisman3192 because this section was closed due to wild fire earlier in the year
Congratulations
Mishap, I only watch CDT hikers, dont you even try go draw me in to this PCT journey.
Looks like great weather. Enjoy those clear skies!
I’ve experienced that several times too. Crazy how fate messes with you sometimes.
Congratulations on your finish!❤
That mud is the worst!
Hi Mishap. I am "blue rabbit" from France, cdt 2022 too. What was your starting date ?
Great!
Congratulation, Mishap! An amazing hike. Thanks for sharing. Now rest and eat all ya want. 🙂
Congratulations on your hike! Thanks for taking us along ❤
Mom rocks.
@@seekingishwara737 best mom
Thanks for sharing your Adventure. I enjoyed the authentic approach of your videos. Got me even more excited about my CDT thruhike (attempt) next year.
@@DirkHKanal Good luck!
CONGRATULATIONS, MISHAP!!! Great job!
Well done Mishap. Happy hikes forever.
Fantastic job!! Thanks for giving the viewers a 'real' view of the thru hiking experience. I hope you get all the food you need in next couple days after finishing. Be safe- Stay happy.
Thanks for taking me along on your hike nice job
Last night on the trail! That country just south of the Colorado border was really wonderful, I loved that ridge walk looking down on the Brazos, and the big yellow grass plain before that. Congratulations...you got one video to make! :D
Aw, the Icarus statue is really cool and the view looking down the cliff is too.
@@seekingishwara737 i had no idea what the sign meant. I'm guessing you checked it out?
@@HikingMishap Yeah! I saw interesting guthooks comments so it seemed worthwhile. It's a kind of goddess figure cradling the fallen Icarus, carved into the stone summit of the peak looking down on that ranch in the valley.
@@seekingishwara737 I wish i checked it out. I assumed it was a path to someone's house tbh.
The Steller Jays is one of my favorites.
The mud there is like peanut butter!
Land coral seems like a great name for those.
Those elk make some curious sounds.
Thank you for sharing your journey and congratulations🎉! I enjoyed every moment and gives me encouragement to hike the CDT in 2025.
Doing this hike by your self, you did an amazing job sharing your adventure. Congratulations
Great job!
Stunning opening shot. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your amazing adventure.
Congratulations!!! What an accomplishment. 🎉🎉🎉
It was fun following your adventures and misadventures 😊
Nice hike Mishap, thanks for letting me come along from the beginning.
Turn around and go back!
@@robertt9270 I wish, too late in the season though.
We know what you’ve done. I understand your emotions. Slow down and savor these moments.
Beautiful
I will miss your videos, thanks for sharing. You did nice job
Spectacular even with the smoke, same this year with cold thunderstorms occasionally clearing the air. I live in brown bear country and don't fear them but I'll never be caught that close to moose.
Triple Divide area looks cool.
Stay safe. You seem somewhat vulnerable.
Glad you had fun with you quest Mishap. Sorry i was not able to be a Montana host to you but i did give several CDT hikers a rise into town. My daughter keeps telling me picking up hitchers is dangerous but i keep telling her CDT hikers are safe.
Nice.
I'll bet Apples and Man Hands remembered your comment about the mosquitoes and the tent-walking north of Rawlins, that was a classic :D.
That was not very nice thru hiker etiquette, him eating at your tent area.
Birdwatching goes both ways.
The Wall trail is spectacular and the elk a bonus.
Man Hands and Apples! I think I last saw them walking the road north of that ranch 10 miles north of Pie Town where the nice owners let us camp for the night. Looking forward to your next section -> I thought there was much more bear sign north of the Chinese Wall.
@@seekingishwara737 there absolutely was!
Nice hiking Mishap.
What do u use to navigate? Just far out or do use Gaia too
@@lenoredisman3192 Far out mainly. I use Avenza for off trail stuff.
The bridge didn't look like benchmark, must still be south of there. Exciting country coming up. Hike on Mishap.
@@montanadan2524 I was headed into Augusta from there. Not sure exactly what Trailhead it was anymore.
That was the greatest gear shop ever. I hear he’s been shut down dang it
@@seekingishwara737 aww, that's so sad
And thats the biggest city park on fire.
No not lighting. Those are burn piles from some logging activities or fuel reduction. When I lived in Helena, I was told Mt Helena on the side of town is the largest city park in the nation. Hike on Mishap.
