This is an experimental track that, honestly, I'm not sure how much of an audience there will be for something like this - but I had a really fun time challenging myself with making it. Basically I wanted to try making a song that explores stacking Time Signatures and to see if I could keep it somewhat accessible/coherent. Below is the nerd section of the description for anyone who cares:
So my idea for this song was to "warm up" the listener by going through various building time signatures each at a time in order from 2/4 to 12/8, and then in the latter section (once "warmed up") the 9/8 riff heard earlier on repeats and simultaneous to that unstable time signatures (from either 2/4 to 12/8) play alongside it with the other instrumentation - weaving in and out from matching the starting beat of a measure in order to try and retain a sense of coherency amidst what would otherwise be total chaos.
So for example, the first two measures of 9/8 (9/8 and 9/8) in the final stretch are accompanied by 6/8, 2/4, 7/8, and 3/4. Both total to 18 beats, so they eventually converge again. From there I just used a variety of changes to weave in and out. I hope the results are at least an interesting listen. I wanted to do something like this a long while back and remembered the idea and that I hadn't done it yet after revisiting some Dillinger Escape Plan songs (if you don't like off the wall music I can't really recommend them, but hey, I like their stuff. So shout out to them for making me remember this.)
