Bike Touring Portugal's North: Epic Routes & Unforgettable Views | Around the World by Bicycle - №9
Join me as I cycle through the stunning landscapes of northern Portugal, the fourth country on my incredible journey around the world by bicycle! 🚴
In this video, I explore the northwestern part of Portugal, mostly riding along the breathtaking Atlantic coast, experiencing the country’s rich culture and natural beauty firsthand. This is my first time in Portugal, and it has been an unforgettable adventure on two wheels!
On this leg of my bike touring journey, I discover:
✔️ Majestic ancient castles, like Montemor-o-Velho and Obidos, steeped in history.
✔️ Charming Portuguese villages and vibrant towns full of character.
✔️ Pristine beaches with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.
✔️ Unexpected connections with fellow cyclists, who join me for part of the ride.
From bikepacking along coastal routes to immersing myself in Portugal’s unique charm, this experience highlights why cycling is the best way to travel and truly see the world.

There aren’t a lot of people on it. You can walk around the island several times during one day and discover something new each time. You won’t find roads with cars. Motorbikes are the only transport here...

Cobbles can be annoying but they are usually either used in backroads on the country side or... premium locations like town centers, touristic spots of fancey neighborhoods. Tarmac is often seen as industrial and souless. Cobbles are seen as a cultural element and have a lot of other positive features like being much cooler than tarmac during the summer (slippier when wet), absorbing water trough the narrow spaces between them and allowing quick easy fixes on the road by just lifting the stones and placing them back. About wild camping, viewers should know this is not legal in Portugal. In no circumstance you should think of this as non issue. You can be fined at any moment specially if you end up staying on a hot spot known for this activity and usually screened by police. It is true that in most cases no one will care. Police has more things to worry about. But even so always stay out of sight and avoid natural classified areas and such. You staying in the Porto park was clearly not acceptable as literally no one dare to do this. You got lucky.

How would someone ask me which of our Ukrainian cyclists is in first place? I would point to you!!! Why? Firstly, the native language, secondly - thousands of kilometers in different continents, editing and music, concise and necessary information (without philosophy). It's all about you, thank you for taking us with you. I have been watching you for a long time, even before the creation of this channel.

I cycled south India. People are quite relaxed and very hospitable. Never had a problem. North India is much more jammed with people and more intense. Crowds of curious people are the norm in India. That's just how it is. Either you accept it or not. Trust me you have no power to change it... In India if you need something you ask for it. Why should they offer you help if you don't ask? They assume you have what you need. These are simply cultral differences. Actually you are in dangerous situation here. Camping next to a busy road in India? What do you expect?
