I bought one yesterday and of all things I didn't latch the lid properly. It escaped of course. Luckily I found it and was able to get it back in. The wife was upset and Super freaked out. It was a helpful video. I'm going to do better in th4 future

i tried this before for my fire bellied toads anc pm frog. the crickets ended up in the trash sooner than i thought. i have superworms and they have worked well for a year.

The markings on his shell are very beautiful. Everyone has different opinions on what to do for the best where their pets are concerned - don’t be bothered about pleasing everyone because you know him best and it is obvious you care for him very much. He is super cute!

Petamart employee here,, we (the petcare employees) know they don't know the tanks are too small and the care isn't proper, but corporate won't let us do anything other than that. All we can do is try and educate their new owners and make sure they're going to a proper home and getting the proper care they deserve :( It's an uncomfortable situation for everyone, but for me personally-- I'd rather it be me taking care of these animals than someone who doesn't care much for them :(

2 years later I hope she is happy and healthy. I got mine as a 1/3" sling 2/10/22. It's now 5/11/22 and I think he's officially refusing food to molt for the 3rd time. I can't wait for mine to get to 5-6".

That was an easy transfer, my son's Columbia giant red leg is very defensive when we change the enclosure kicking hairs. This time she literally was jumping up into the air and kicking hairs.

That's not a wolf spider, that is actually a fishing spider. Not sure about the species but maybe it's a Dolomedes tenebrosus?

These are terrestrial tarantulas who should have short enclosures. They do not usually climb and can hurt themselves. She needs more substrate so she can burrow.

Ok so I have to say something. Your heart was in the right place, but you did not rescue her by buying her. All you did was keep the cycle going. If you had talked them into giving her to you for free so you wouldn’t be putting money into the company, then THAT would have been rescuing her. But giving them money is all they care about. They don’t care what your motive was in getting her. So even though this particular animal is better off, you’ve kept up the demand so the stores will continue to supply more animals. We need them to STOP selling live animals period. Buying them is not rescuing them, it’s only hurting progress. It’s like someone buying a puppy mill dog and saying they did something good. Nope. They just ensured more animals will be bred and tortured for profit. No offense and I’m not trying to be rude, but this is a very important message that animal lovers need to hear. Please NEVER buy animals, especially from pet stores.

First thank you for being an experienced reptile owner and having the heart to take her home!!! I work at a PetSmart and can tell you now they are not supposed to be in a tank that size. We are supposed to have them in "appropriate" size cages so a chameleon of that size should have definitely been moved to a reptibreeze cage to support her size. Typically the chameleons are a couple of weeks old (too young and fragile to be sold in my opinion) and are usually sold before they reach this size. I assume sometimes the breeders will get rid of the breeding females once they're done using them and send them as inventory. And in regards to the water bowl it's to help keep the humidity up during the day and it's typically put under the basking spot to help evaporate we still mist them 2 times a day. I agree that PetSmart isn't perfect by a long shot but they do have policies put in place for the pets. Such as habitat commitments ie. They need to have this humidity and temp maintained in the habitat. But it boils down to management and if the associates care/educated enough. Each stores quality of care towards their pets vary luckily I'm at one of the good ones. I've seen stores where they sold a bearded dragon in a 5 gallon tank with no uvb and I had to interrupt and tell them that it's all wrong and help them shop and it was on my day off at a different store🤦‍♀️

If you pay the pet store their money they they will just buy another cham to abuse. They're the one killing chams, and if you give them money for a cham then you're supporting that. Just don't go to that petstore if you don't want to see abused chams

All you need is a water dish for a stripe knee. I own one. I only over flow the water dish
