My all time favorite macaw. They have tons of personality!

The thing that most may not get is just what IS going on here. Cupcake repeats bye bye over and over until you come closer. She was in her understanding of our language asking you to get closer! This is NOT A STRETCH! Once you came closer she did as you requested as well as lots of I love you’s! I have spent thousands of hours learning, hearing and have actually been blessed to study them in their natural habitat...we sell them short so much. We have no idea just how smart they are and sell them short always...myself included. I have nine living with me...my husband who never believed animals had any intelligence has also come to the realization that they are more remarkable than ever imagined, other than Dr. Irene Pepperberg. Her research of African greys was remarkable and brave..the greys however in my opinion have a chance of one in ten to meet the intellect that I’ve seen in EVERY macaw that I’ve encountered! Maybe it’s the beak that intimidates people. They are however less apt to be a risk to what one fears the most, getting bitten! They usually don’t poop on people that they love, they’re quiet and calm when treated well and taught properly how we as humans like to live. They are adaptable at most any age, meaning that you don’t need a baby to get an amazing relationship! This video just struck me in it’s simplicity. The love Cupcake shows is endearing. I adore these creatures and those who care for them properly. I’ve been committed, or committable, hahahaha, for forty-five years and I’ve learned so much. Each one is truly unique. They have a sense of humor...sometimes they seek revenge for their own perceived injustices. They love deeply and truly. They never cease to amaze me coming up with their own words at times when they don’t know what something should be called...fruit or cracker? Crapple! Funny yes? But oh so smart....you decide...I’ve always cursed the first person that thought it was a good idea to put a bird in a cage! We cannot free Willie for he died, (the whale), as would that be the fate of our birds. It just shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

my gw also does that dane at 226 but he fluffs up as he Bob's his head i thought it was aggression at first or is it!!! he usually does it after I say no to anything bad he does

@Wolf Ryder; I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend. We have been owned by a male Greenwing and a female Blue and Gold for sixteen years. The b&g is bonded closer to my husband and the greenwing is my boy. You will understand what I mean when I say he tickles my heart. He is so bonded to me and I to him that it just breaks my heart to hear of your loss. I am so very sorry and there are no words to express the loss I feel for you and your family. Today I lost ours to the damn hawks, and two minutes earlier we saw him coming doen from his stand, my mom is depressed cause it was like her child.

It's called a java tree they cost £200 upwards although they claim to be parrot proof, they are not as my Military & b&g macaw have destroyed my java tree

How did you get her to be so comfortable with water? I bought a green Green-Cheek Conure as a baby, and whenever i tried to bathe him in the sink, he freaked out and wouldnt get near the water. I've just recently bought a baby Green-Wing Macaw and would like him to be comfortable in taking showers unlike my green-cheek. So how would i introduce him to the shower without spooking him?

She can say, "hello", Bye-bye", "night,night", "I love you", "uh-oh", also trying to get her to say more words. She'll be 2 years old in June 2012.
