why is that fool standing beyond the crossing gate so close to the tracks?

looking the map and on street view it makes you wonder why they had a tunnel rather than a cutting. Local Landowner insisted?

Unfortunately I have only seen small steam locos as a railway. When I had the chance in 2019, I didn`t because the last train to our next destination would leave 15 minutes after the steam loco arrived. and there was no hotel in this city

That's got to be the most insane place to have a level crossing, that I have ever seen. They really should raise that road up and extend the tunnel a bit.

I thought this was somewhere in, I think, France at first. There’s a level crossing right next to a tunnel somewhere there. When the barriers lifted traffic had to wait for the smoke to clear before they could see where to drive.

Thank you. I live near this crossing. When I see the steam engine trains come into and leave our lovely train station I long to be on one. Someday perhaps.
