That’s gonna look awesome! 👍
Proof you don’t always need a loop of track
Beautiful engine! I have the Atlas O version. Can't wait for my Amtrak Siemens Charger from 3rd Rail. Thanks for the tip about running 2 rail on 3 rail track. I'm a 3 railer that run DCS and Legacy, but also have a NCE Power Cab for running my N and HO DCC engines. " Big Ups👍from Chicago!"
Those Siemens chargers are going to be super cool. Unfortunately they weren’t in the budget this year but I look for to checking them out in videos on UA-cam
Use the 'Enable Ironing' feature in Cura to get a smooth top layer.
Number I'm scared I'm 9 I really like it
First time viewer An awesome presentation Like all the details on this engine . Excellent video . 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🛤️
Thanks for watching. I don’t make a lot of videos but I try to make them about new and interesting stuff. There’ll be more to come
What a very impressive model! Very nice review of the locomotive!
Thank you
Very nice. I like the start-up sequence, probably the most realistic that I have heard and I've started a lot of these in real life. Even though I am a post-war/MPC era modeler, I appreciate the good scale stuff. I think that Lionel and MTH could make a decent model with an optional fixed pilot, although they have gone in a good direction with the new 'kinetic' pilot, if I have the name right. A fixed pilot would be good for some of the guys with larger layouts with wide curves. Either way, an excellent video.
I think it sounds pretty nice as well. They keep getting better and better with sounds as the years go on. I love the post war stuff as well. My main focus is on the scale stuff now though. I’ve got an atlas sd40-2(formerly mth model) which I’m currently putting fixed pilots on. It’s the WSOR 4170 so it’ll go good with this model. Just have to find scale wheels for it. Thanks for the watch!
We're getting closer to having a SD45-2 in O scale! (It's the same underframe as the SD40-2) Will be nice to get a snoot nose SD40-2 & SD40T-2 in next release.
I would have to believe that 3rd rail will do some of those variations in the future. I’m sure these will be a very big success. The quality and attention to detail is second to none with 3rd rail. They definitely will have many orders from me in the future
Nice locomotive. I was wondering if you had ordered one. Are you going to have a 2-rail layout? The 3-rail versions have fixed pilots and are set up for kadees.
My plan is to have a 2 rail layout with a 3 rail loop for some of my older stuff. Now if I only had time to work on it haha. I’ve got to get your locos finished and then maybe this winter work will slow down a little so I can work on the trains
Very nice review. Curious if the the wheelbase is scale correct. All the Weaver/MTH/Lionel models have the same wheelbase as a straight SD-40, which I believe is 4 feet shorter than a Dash 2, a full inch in O gauge. I am not a purist, but if the wheelbase on a Dash 2 is not correct, I find it more distracting than the swinging pilots or center rail. Also, it sounds like it should, with the great turbo whine. Great job!
The wheelbase on these is correct - which we all requested to Scott Mann of 3rd rail. The Weaver/MTH/Lionel models all have the incorrect cabs as well - The Dash-2s have an overhang on the back of the cab, gives a little protection from rain.
@denniss7420 said it right! These do have the correct wheel base and cabs for the -2 model. I would definitely have to agree with you about that being a distraction on the mth, atlas and Lionel models. Now I just wish I would have ordered two of these. Hopefully Scott will do WSOR in the next run as well because I will definitely order another one or two of these
No problem. Thanks for the update.
EXCELLENT! That's the ONLY thing I hate about O Scale! NOW there's a REMEDY! 👍👍👍
I sure hope they start doing ALL of there Locomotives like that! 👌🏽

Very informative video. How about doing a tutorial on how you 3-d print parts?
I can probably do that. It’ll be a while yet because I’m still really learning but I’ll try a video on it at some point
*Promosm* 💕
Fun stuff! This will certainly make life easier once you get things where you need them. This is certainly where the hobby is going. Once you learn you can teach me.
It’s definitely got a learning curve. So many different variables. But it’s kinda fun
Yea I'm sure it is but before you know you will be making all kind of parts.@@epictrains4170
New toy to spend hours on lol
For sure
Awesome consist and sweet Shay. A visit to Cass is on my bucket list.
Thank you. I’m hoping to get out there soon as well. It looks like a very nice place with great trains
I need to find one for myself. Being from atlas I was a little hesitant to pre-order. Just never owned any Atlas o gauge locomotives.
These are exact mth models. Atlas just printed their name over the stamped mth on the bottom. Other than that nothing changed. Nice locos though
Very nice. I probably should have ordered one. Wisconsin and Southern is almost impossible to find in o gauge. I try to seek them out because the WSOR borders my property. Ken
I love the WSOR. I’ve got a 3rd rail sd40-2 coming as well.
Nice cars! They look great with your shay!
Thanks! I really like the look of them
I see Pat got in his Log Cars. They are very nice. I drive up to Pat's alot. Nice Shay. If you get a Chance check out our CASS WV Build we did on our Layout. Just Subscribed.
I’ll definitely check it out. Thank you
Was it hard puting Kdee cuplers on?
Kadees are easy to add to newer locomotives. Anything made after 2010 has the screw holes already drilled
@epictrains4170 I've noticed some of my locomotives have screw holes and some don't
Typically the newer models do. I have some that don’t as well. With those you have to drill your own
Looking good.
Awesome stuff! I’ve been very curious about the Blunami. Seems to be really good. How much are you asking for the ps3 boards?
Blunami is very cool. $190 for the board or 200 for board with the speaker
That’s awesome! Where are you ordering your boards from? I’m going to install it on my ps1 cab forward.
Currently the two ps3 boards I have are out of my sd40-2 and my sd45. I will send you a video of them in operation to verify all features work before I send it to you. Send me an email and we can talk more. epictrains97@gmail.com
Please disregard, looks like I will be ordering a Blunami board for my test locomotive. Thank you!
Go through a 3rd party retailer instead of directly from soundtraxx. You can find them for around 200 instead of the 250 on soundtraxx website
I agree with you Blunami is awesome. You will love Deadrail also. Try the Outdoor Throttle setting in the Android version. It converts the right half of the phone to the throttle. Tap for one speed step or swipe for multiple speed steps you get to decide. I set mine to 5. This gets your head out of the phone and on to your trains.
The BNSF looks and sounds amazing! Awesome weathering on the Conrail and Milwaukee Road boxcars too.
Thanks. I’ve been slowly getting into weathering. It’s fun just time consuming
Just found your channel, awesome Pennsy power. 💯
Very nice. Been stuck on my project for weeks. You countersink screws are the perfect idea. Thanks for sharing. Where did you get you hoses? Scratch build or add on details?
The detail parts are all precision scale brass details. I cut the spacers and fillers out of styrene but that’s about all I make myself. The counter sunk screws have been working very well. Going on 7 years with my sd45 and they are holding up great
Those came out great! Congradulations on finishing the project!
Man! You have got to do a tutorial! Just got the Atlas Premier Wisconsin and Southern 40th A nniversary SD40 myself. "Big ups 👍 from Chicago!"
I may do an overview. Sid’s trains already has an in depth video on how to do it so I would suggest watching his video. But I’ll definitely show progress as I go. Currently finishing adding all the details to the ws sd40. Then I’ll change the sounds
@@epictrains4170 Thanks, I'll check out Sid's Trains page.👍
Man....what a game changer....you got a give a complete video on how...the sounds are fantastic...I was looking into this year's ago....nice work
The sounds and controls are awesome. Check out Sid’s Trains. He has a complete how to on installing Blunami. Very good video. I’ll show progress on mine as I go but probably not a full install
@@epictrains4170 thanks will do
Great work!
All I can say is awesome man! You are a man with many talents. The Blunami thing is going to get you in trouble, starting with me. I've been real curious about it and you're pushing my curiosity. Thanks for the shout out and you will definitely be hearing from me soon. Keep up the great work my friend.
I'm already addicted to the blunami system. It's so intriguing because of the sound selection and not having a need for a dcc system.
Awesome Shay! MTH did a really nice job with this model! Great looking bridge too! 😊 -Brian
Thanks. Been in the process of making more trees so hopefully it’ll look even better with more foliage
Looks incredible with Kadee couplers! I would love to change mine over but it’s just not cost effective for me at this point. Nice work!👍
If you ever need me to do any work like this on your models just let me know. My email is on my channel description
Awesome!👍
What size drill bit did you use and was it used in a drill or by hand?
I’ll have to look. It was pretty small. Smaller than 1/16. Maybe 3/64 or 1/32
It’s a 1.2mm drill bit
Thanks. Waiting on your run session@@epictrains4170
Been so busy lately. I have another video I’m making. And trying to make a channel intro
No problem@@epictrains4170
Awesome work. Can't wait to see them in action.
Looking great!
Beautiful never seen someone make these so realistic❤
Very awesome update. With all of your precious time put into these, you are more than welcome for the DVD. Let me know what you think about it when you watch it.
Sweeet
Hey can you make a layout video see your layout I have a little but small can you make a layout please
I will be doing an update soon
Awesome O Gauge locomotives.
You'll like that video. Its got some good information, but you've already learned nearly everything you need to know, but it might give you some new techniques.
Nice engines man
Thanks. They do look sharp
You're making quick work of these SD45's!
They are going pretty smooth. Once you’ve done a few it gets fairly simple.
Nice layout. I like your plan to upgrade. 3:49 Who makes those TTX Box Cars?
Technically they are the mth high cubes but atlas bought them so they are now made by atlas. They have another run coming out later this year
