My guess is he's using an audio interface to record the audio on his computer. He can technically plug it directly into his computer and change a setting on the device to send the audio via a usb cable and bypass the interface.
bro,I juz use a 3.5 to a USB audio capture and to my iPhone to record the sound and video,sometimes I also use only 3.5 to my recorder to get the sound,maybe you can try those two ways or use a external audio interface to your computer DAW,hope those can help you!
