নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম বলেনঃ لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَتَبَاهَى النَّاسُ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ ‘‘যত দিন লোকেরা মসজিদ নিয়ে গর্ব না করবে ততদিন কিয়ামত হবেনা’’।[1] ইমাম বুখারী (রঃ) আনাস (রাঃ) হতে বর্ণনা করে বলেনঃ ‘‘লোকেরা মসজিদ নিয়ে গর্ব করবে, কিন্তু ইবাদতের মাধ্যমে তা আবাদ করবেনা’’।[2] উমার (রাঃ) মসজিদকে জাঁকজমক করতে নিষেধ করেছেন।[3] মোটকথা আল্লাহর ইবাদত ও আনুগত্যের মাধ্যমে মসজিদ আবাদ করতে হবে। তা বড় করে নির্মাণ করা ও চাকচিক্যময় করার মাধ্যমে নয়। [1] - মুসনাদে আহমাদ। ইমাম আলবানী সহীহ বলেছেন, সহীহুল জামে, হাদীছ নং- ৭২৯৮। [2] - বুখারী, অধ্যায়ঃ কিতাবুস্ সালাত। [3] - ফাতহুল বারী, (১/৫৩৯)।
