I like the history graph on the multimeter display. Not sure how long that has been going on, but pretty cool!
That's for the USB-C power, so anything I power via the USB-C system gets graphed like that
Welp 7 mins in, and I'm depressed. Will have to come back to this later xD
Got to watch after getting back from delivery... nice stream :) Just stop doing them at stupid hour of the morning for us UK peeps!!
Watching a 1466 get sorted is like watching a rerun of your old favorite TV show! I still keep my donor boards around for some reason...
Roach poop!? Alright I hate to ask, but have you gained any infestations from work you have brought in? Bed bugs, roaches, fleas, ..anything?
Yes, years ago the room became infested with "German Roaches" and it was a major task to clear them out.
@@pldaniels Welp. Time to build a work shed. Thanks for saving me from infestation in the future! I'm sure it was just a matter of time.
have a great Monday PLD
🖐👍
A daytime stream 😮 Oh well, at least you get some good sleep time later.
Interesting video. I keep missing the live streams due to working funny hours but it's nice to be able to catch up eventually.
You know what would be interesting? a version were you can attach a linear/switching PSU 30v5A, only 1 usb for data link, the other usb replaced with female banana jacks. Good for old psu, just to display stuff on OBS.
Video black-pixel issues fixed. I ended up having to replace the BD connector with a "standard" FPC unit (20way 0.5mm pitch) which thankfully has done the job nicely. Was a bit of a PITA because I didn't want to have to remove the 3-pin header that was right behind the existing connector ( Hakko micropencil with KN tip and some solder paste combined with hot-air assist from the Atten @ 200'C ).
PLD Live Paul! What the hell do you need this channel for to collect subscribers again? Go back to the main channel and continue there! I just accidentally found this channel and was shocked that I missed it!))
Because YT keeps serving up old live streams instead of edited videos; so this way I collect the live streams here out of the way ( which I can then edit down if I want ) but the main channel keeps the edited goods.
@@pldaniels It's clear

SCREEN GLITCHES - Fixed for the next video. Was caused by a 10-bit setting in the microscope source properties being enabled, but what was the spanner in the works is that disabling it *does not* immediately resolve the issue, you have to restart OBS in order for that to be fixed. I'll work on a fix PR for OBS when I find some time.
paul. Let out the magic smoke. 💨 it was a good attempt cameras kind of acting funny I see I have to have HDR turned off or else I’ll get that same blocking stuff
Yes, was in effect a HDR issue I think as I had 10-bit mode on
Good deal for the seller. No way i would i have bought it. Its worth 150-200 bucks
This is a repair job for a client; I didn't buy it.
That was enjoyable to see fixed, but I will have nightmares about the damage for weeks.
Hopefully it won't come back any time soon. Worried there's going to be legacy issues with the partial delamination of the board around the mount holes where they've prised out the legs
$300 for a broken PS5 board, holeee 💩!! and a couple more for the algorithm.
Darn, I slept late. Thanks for the PS5 vid I want to add them to my portfolio. 👍
The duality-reality. We are all ECO but somehow it is perfectly legal to purposely create e-waste. :(
I think i prefer the name Repair, Renew and Rehome.... whatr do you guys think?
This is a Youtubocracy, we'll make you think you have a say and duly ignore it.
Didn't know CT has as many macbooks.
Why would you bother? I think my 2015 MBP with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD is going for about $350 on eBay. I refuse to sell shit on ebay, too many scammers these days. I sold someone $100 worth of Boston Market gift cards for $20 on ebay (they're out of business by me but apparently open in Texas) then he's got the balls to tell me they don't accept them. I'm like OK - I have pre-paid postage - send them back. Never sent them back and I'm still waiting for ebay to refund me the postage. I'll buy off ebay but not sell.
I'm not selling these, I'm giving them away locally. 2015~2017 8GB A1466's are still decent machines and lightweight. Over here in AU they're usually still seeing $250 USD for them.
Not a million views but I will like and comment for you.
Always appreciated
You are the master, Paul ! I would never have thought you would be able to repair any of those.
Guess we'll see how we go with the other 3 later
I enjoy my morning coffee with The Paul Daniels, I always learn something new. 👍
Hi Paul 👋 EDIT: I saw PDL and thought it was live 🤣
what microscope is he using?
Amscope SM-4TP with a 0.7x barlow. I have my own custom ring light ( pldaniels.com/shop )
@@PLDLive thanks, I'll check it out. I like the view and I'm in the market for one. Tom. Central Florida
@@PLDLive is the power supply for the ring light 110v or 220?
@@TomSorrentino-r2p the ones I supply are 90-240V capable; though you may find it cheaper to just obtain one locally to suit your supply. 24V 1A output is required.
@@PLDLive thanks, and thanks for the quick reply.

I was going to say "FIX N' GIFT"
looks like it's heading that way - already spinning up a text logo, using & though
Fix and Pay forward
I really like your profile picture and if you let me, I would make such an amazing mural out of it! If you don’t mind one of your picture could be my inspiring muse for an art project i’m working on for a client. You will totally get paid for it as well as a bonus also get credits.
Was working on a K550C Asus laptop. Doggedly slow. 8MB of RAM and Win10
At least by this person migrating now to a SSD it should be a reasonably okay machine to have. The spinning-rust really held us back for so long.
@@PLDLive I mentioned to this person that this is about a 10-year-old laptop that will cease receiving Windows updates in about a year. It's best to use that money on a newer laptop. They have a 750GB spinning rust drive in theirs but probably could get by with a 500GB SSD. Suggestion for name of Fix and Extend
Greg
Some excellent suggestions on the name for my "series", going to have to keep chewing on it until something just magically pops out. Regarding the F550L in this video, I did swap over the 8 way FPC connector next day and it's all good again ( client is going to migrate to a SSD as well ). "Fix & Gift" "Fix-it-Forward, Gifting Macbooks" Fix-it-Give/Gift-it Fix and Pay forward
How about FIX IT GIFT IT
I tend to donate to churches and schools, that way it is a tax write-off. It also gets to people that really need it.
Not sure if I can get it listed as a writeoff other than perhaps the stock I buy to fix them up ( they'll inevitably need new batteries and magsafe2 bricks ), though I do somewhat already write that off as business expense (stock) anyhow ... hrmm
Allen
To add to the name List: "Fixing it Forward" was already a videoseries by EricTheCarGuy here on youtube. So that one is already gone 🙂. Maybe "fix-to-donate", "fixing donations" or "contributing repairs" Greetings from central europe!
30 Years of fixing consumer electronics: Roach poo is perfume compared to cat pee.
@10:29 is that the backlight HDMI ic?
Hey Paul, I think the worst thing about roach infestation is the smell. I picked up a white PS4 that was yellow from smoke and roach shit and the smell was absolutely disgusting.
1:23:08 sounds like a cheap porno 😂
Paul needs a spudger. Hugh J. and big Clive are the 2 spudger kings.
Friends of the felines perhaps ?
check the charging chip with the thermal camera during operation without being connected to charging and if it heats up change the chip. most likely that is the cause of that iPhone
Yes, could be that too... this $50 battery fix is turning in to a deeper and deeper hole
UPDATE: Yep, was the tristar.
1:07:36 I missed it because I am watching on a 10" tablet screen *plus* I have shitty old eyes and a three year old glasses prescription that is 30 months past it's _time to change_ date. 😞 No idea why the others watching missed it. 🤷♂ And no, the "light" did *not* flicker or go out. Could you put a thin plastic film or some variety over the piece of metal to make the magnets easier to see/find? Would save having to buff the shininess off it maybe reduce the effective ness of the magnets with the scuffed up surface. I may also be talking through a hole in my lower hole in my head. I had an iPhone 3G and the battery on that thing was a freak. I used it 6 years and still have good battery life and it was then given to a relative overseas to use as an iPod and was still being used for that purpose 3 years after they were given it.
Abnormal previous repairs away from standard spec needs to be charged to customer Paul.
1:13:47 Nice try! Sorin is 48
Hilariously what I *actually* meant to say was that I believe I'm *older* than Sorin but my brain farted on me, just like it should since I'm older ;)
@@pldaniels Haha! He seems older but actually not even 50 yet. Watched his birthday livestream, that how I know
Bloody YT! No notification again. *Thank you* for the stream video Paul. 👍
If you can source some real Neodymium magnets, they should work great with those holders. p.s. Well, you already knew that. Is there anything you don't know 🤣
I'm not sure ;)
18:00 had me laughing for quite a while. I needed that chuckle.
Your day is my night. 😴
