    great information, just wondering if you ever have encountered the chart direction pointing the wrong direction, my chart plotter was pointing the opposite direction (180degree). This only happen AFTER I connected the Lowrance to the existing Suzuki network.. I did some research and I got to the point where most say Setting-->gps source--select fs9.. but after trying it out, it’s does respond but still wrong direct by 45-90degree……. I also found out the “within the network which ever unit gives out the strongest gps signal the network follows.” Doesn’t seem to make sense that the Suzuki has got its own sps or does it for speed.. I don’t know.. thanks……

      I have not messed with connecting the system to the network hub or to an engine system; my motor is a 1987 Johnson, so doesn’t have that capability as far as I’m aware. By chart plotter, I assume you are talking about the map screen. GPS units are directional, so if it changed after you hooked it up to the Suzuki network, I would try to find that GPS receiver and see if you can rotate it. Other than that, there is a setting in the maps to keep it pointing North at all times; might be a quick solution.

    I have the same exact setup as you but had someone else install them. My question is does it matter which unit is connected to the transducer for networking purposes? My FS9 on the bow does not give me any depth or water temp and says stopped. My FS7 on the consoles is working fine. Maybe I don't have the networking set up correctly on each unit, perhaps?

      @Coachbillyc It doesn’t matter which unit has the transducer on it, but that will determine where under the boat you are getting your info. I left mine on the console unit so I can still get data while the trolling motor off the bow is out of the water. I think a single transducer setup, this is definitely the way to go. Now, for depth, I can get that on both units via the sonar screen. If you are charting depth on your CMAP, I believe that only works on one unit at a time. Same for water temp; I can pull water temp up on my bow unit, but it disables it in the console unit… can’t read it on both at the same time. I have looked all through the settings menus and can’t figure out how to get it in both. May not be possible. I fish solo most of the time, so only having it on one unit doesn’t bother me that much; not a deal breaker. I hope this helps!

    Bass Clef Fishing - I have a Lowrance Elite FS 9 - I use it for SI. I set it up on my pontoon on the starboard side. I deploy the unit when I get to my target fishing area. I have another unit with the transducer mounted on the transom for traveling. My question is - Can I use my Lowrance Elite FS9 unit for GPS, while the transducer is out of the water, without damaging the transducer? Thanks, Bernie

      I have read that running the transducer out of the water will damage it; there is a setting in the device to turn the transducer off, however it might be easier and more reliable to just unplug the black transducer wire out of the back of the unit until you drop it into the water. I have my wires zip tied together about 6” away from the connections so I don’t lose one of them. Hope this helps!

      @@basscleffishing Thank you so much. I am embarrassed. I should have been intuitive enough to figure that out. But you quick reply allows me to feel confident to do just that when I get back to NY...soon! Thanks so much. Bernie

    can you get the trolling motor to follow the waypoints that you marked on your Lowrance or do you just get the sonar capabilities from you mounting the transducer to your trolling motor?

    • @basscleffishing
      @basscleffishing 7 місяців тому

      In my situation, I would just get the sonar capabilities from the front rather than the transducer mounted on the back. There are models that will follow GPS, but I don’t have one of those.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I have a question even though I believed you clearly covered it. Then again, you weren't on the water at the time. I just want to make 100% sure. Will I be able to view (side imaging and DI) on both FS units with one transducer when networked together ? For some reason seems I have heard only 2D sonar and mapping can be shared, and not SI or DI can be shared.

    • @basscleffishing
      @basscleffishing 9 місяців тому

      @thebigcountry8518 Yes, all aspects of the transducer can be shared. I’ve been out on the water numerous times and used both. The mapping is a little different than I expected, though. Waypoints can be shared, but not any live C-MAP data that you’ve recorded; only the device with the SD card installed can show you that data.

      @@basscleffishing Hey thanks for the info. I figured you had a chance to give them a try. Trying to make a decision between brands. Humminbird has really dropped their prices this week. There's aspects of the Helix's I like ,and then there's Lowrance elite FS aspects I like. I knew Helix would share One transducer. I wanted to make sure Elite would. Thanks for helping out.

      Happy to help. I liked the menus and navigation of the units a lot better on the Lowrance’s, but that’s all preference. Definitely get your hands on both and play around with them first, if you can.

      Thanks; yes it’s a great unit. A lot of the functionality of the HDS units, but more affordable. I really like the dual setup and being able to move around the boat and still access the information I need.
