Updating A Mahogany Cabinet: Bringing New Life To A Common, Production Chest of Drawers.
Переглядів 72Рік тому
This was one of those refinishing commissions that brings joy. The piece was not an antique (likely late 70's early 80's production piece). However, it was built of solid Mahogany and the internal structure and drawers were in perfect condition. Removing the factory finish was deeply satisfying, as this allowed the natural beauty of the Mahogany to shine. www.patreon.com/UncannyValleyWoods www....
Quick and Dirty LEGO Sorter System: One Day Build DIY

My son did a fantastic job organizing his LEGO by color. He asked me to make him a LEGO sorter for size, so I threw this together on a Saturday. It's not perfect, but I think it will serve his purposes for the time being. #lego

That is amazingly cool, fantastic job👍
That's an impressive air filter. Your lungs thank you.
ua-cam.com/video/6Vu7JP9EbzM/v-deo.html
Sounds like you are an idiot that doesn’t know how to use anything. I’ve been using them for 7 years and never, not once have I ever had an issue.
Yaaaaaas
Just got myself an 03 4runner, this will be one of my first projects👌🏼. Thanks for the inspiration
Could be a nice model if you would show us clear and sharp footage. Those blurring and fading is annoying only.
I'm sorry I didn't consult with you first while I was mindlessly trying to stay sane during Covid. I'll remember to reach out in the future to ask you what you'd prefer.
Use architectural PVC. Comes in all sorts of glossy colors with no text on it. You don't have to paint it.
Building one now All I have is a jig saw and a couple power tools lol Rockler didn’t send me a template for a few of the parts
Dang! Good luck!
Are those PVC adapters and bushings at the 2:00 mark that you cut and fit into the ammo box?
Yes, they are.
Wow. Love this so much.
Thank you! It's always nice to meet a surrealist in the wild.
7 of 10 here. Fantastic!
15 people already! Beautiful stuff!
Love It! Beautiful finished product. That's a great design for student marimbas.
And what’s the lil red doll doing in a glass jar with a lid?
Those little red guys are the secret to making a good dye stain. ua-cam.com/video/hYQR7PssKSs/v-deo.html
Looks nice. Good job. I’m trying to figure out how to raise the seat height because only young people can get up from a seat so low. Just saying.
Great video! I'm going to be making a bookcase soon and I want to maximize mass market paperback density. I'm trying to decide to between 7.5 and 8 inch shelf height. Question: What individual shelf height did you go with and how easy is it to get the books in and out? Would you do anything different?
I had the same dilemma. I planned for an 8 inch clearance. After everything came together, my clearance ended up being 7 7/8 inches. I find that it's just enough for standard paperbacks.
@@uncannyvalleywoods Perfect, thanks for the information. If I do a video on the build you might not want to watch it, my wood working skills can trigger some people, lol.
@@sfwordsofwonder Oh dude, you should totally do a video and don't be self conscious at all. @bookjack did one recently and it was awesome!
Very nice piece!
That all came together beautifully, and I loved the rocket adornments on the sides!
Thanks Jack! Now it probably makes more sense why I always guffaw about your bookcases. Wood is great and all, but a basement full of metal shelves filled with books just feels right. ;-)
Great bookcase and excellent collection of SF!
Thanks so much! Fortunately or unfortunately, it's just a piece of the whole collections. LOL
I experimented with different tubes. PVC and ABS expanded in the sun's heat and sagged. They both also whipped around pretty bad going down the highway. My latest build is using steel tubes. Nothing is going to make those babies flop around.
They've definitely sagged a bit in the past year, but I've got them stable in the wind at least. I think steel or aluminum is definitely the way to go. I'd definitely go that route if I decide to rebuild it.
Schedule 40 pipe should not flop around
Im curious as to how heavy your build came to be with steel tubing?
Looks awesome man! Showed me a lot of new uses for painters tape too
Painter's tape is life.
Fantastic build. Great job!
Thank you!!
Epic music for an epic bookcase.
I love the music in this video and the chess board looks amazing. Always wanted to build one but seems intimidating
I have been fascinated by the work of Sara Walker and Lee Cronin and Assembly Theory for the past six months...It is providing me with a wonderful understanding of the past, present and what the future could be. I teach graphic design and filmmaking at a small college nestled in the woods of East Texas. I would like to study under both of them. Your video is beautiful...
OH MAN! THANK YOU! I'm so glad you appreciated this for what it is. Thank you so so much!
Those drawers... *chef's kiss*. But thank you for addressing my OCD. If only you had also provided an explanation.
do you find it easy to store 2 rods in the 2" diameter PVC? thanks a ton, I subbed
I only store one rod per tube and I wrap my rods in a soft sleeve before penetrating the tube.
@@uncannyvalleywoods are you worried/ have you experienced a broken eyelet or anything else from bouncing around within the PVC while uncovered? Thanks again!
@@ryanmorrissey4439 I definitely think about it when I'm loading or unloading a rod from the tube, especially because I'm already accident prone, but so far so good. It could definitely happen though.
This video is enjoyably chill, and I'm here for it.
That Is a really nice chess board it’s self and when you added the legs for it. I loved it
This flying saucer model is no doubt-- The Invaders inspired.
What little kid put this together?
I still remember my first day on the internet too.
Thanks for watching. Please subscribe!
Great job can you add a parts list in the description.
Some of the fastest paint slapping and glue sticking I've ever seen.
6:44 ... yep! those red ports at the top 😂
Did you use 2" pipe? Looks good. I subbed
Totally man. 2" pipe. Thanks !
Oh yeah, "The Dream Stream".
You spelt "die" wrong. Also, that's some weird B-roll you recorded.
One day I'll show you the mother ship too.
The background beat made the video.
I had to mute it!
Awesome video. Great build. Exactly what I was looking for. Is that just a plastic ammo box? Do you know the brand if so? Not sure it’s that important but was curious about the dimensions if you have them. Subbed. Thx!
Totally just a plastic ammo box from Amazon. Ten bucks I believe. I have definitely seen this done with metal ammo boxes, but I'd imagine they are slightly trickier to build. You can make the tubes either the full length of the rod or half length. I ended up making mine half lengths, so they are roughly 48 inches long. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching and subbing! Not affiliate link: www.amazon.com/dp/B07B1QH4BQ?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_1R4WW6GRR1QY2W5GP8PE
Did you put o-rings on the outside between the coupler and box?
I did not, but only because I live in a very dry place. The coupling is glued with PVC cement though.
looks good!
The first little file you showed is an auger bit file .
That's a small pillar drive has got a few bits missing.
It definitely seemed to have a few pieces missing. There was no way I could arrange it into a functional tool. I assumed there was some sort of base not present. Thanks for the info!
Indeed, bien, bien, bien.
That first wooden plane (1:42:40 ish) is a moving filister plane. Yes, it's for cutting rabbets (rebates if you're British) but that nicker slices the fibers for moving cross-grain. Pretty plane. Lovely condition on all of them; especially the threads on those fence screws. Great find. Congrats.
Thank you, I just sat back and enjoyed your dialogue.
Dude, i like your style. Much respect. Time and elbow grease for the win.
That old girl shined up nice. Beautiful old bench, don't blame you for the wooden doggos
Whatever happened to Part Two?
