I love how the the CC at 4:35 states "after years of contemplation and Council [from his] advisors, Charles II chose Philip Anjou the grandson of Louis XIV and his hair". Then is cuts to his portrait with flowing white curls 😆
The Bourbons are destroying Spain. They are Freemasons and Anti Jewish and Anti Spanish it’s obvious with their LGBT filth. Only the Lord Jesus can rescue Spain from the cruel and wicked foes. Enemies of God.
The House of Hapsbergs were guilty of supporting catholic rule and oppression over the European continent.

Hmm 🤔 economic development? While whatever economics was going on Portugal still was the poorest country in Western Europe. So whatever economics was happening did not trickle down too many people. My dad did not wear shoes on a regular basis until he immigrated to Canada in 1967 as a kid with his family. what’s more important, balancing the budget freedom of speech and human rights? I don’t know. 🤷🏻♂️ if you disagree with the government and you get thrown in jail, but the budget is balanced…. 😅😂😂😂😂😂
Portugal remained/s the poorest country in Western Europe for more than 50 years after Salazar and since joining the EU. So that is not a fair assessment of Salazar and is more a commentary on Portugal as a nation/culture. Regarding human rights and freedomof speech, I agree except there is the caveat that Salazar was coming after the disastrous First Portuguese Republic where violence and assassinations were common. So it may be more accurate to say that Salazar was better than what preceded him, but worse than what came after.
The economic performance attributed to salazar was on par with Europe and post war stability. We can't really give him roo much credit for it, but ro context of the era in europe. Also, porrugal was owned by 12 families, and had a chronic problem with wealth distribution. Therefore , the GDP, or PIB can't be the sole factor of that economic performance. As to human rights, I'm not sure bombing protesting farmers with Napalm is something ro be proud of. Salazar indulged in lobbyism, passive and active corruption, favors, abuse of state means, jobs for the boys, etc just like any other... we need to do away with the myth that he was an honest man who came from poor families. Utter nonsense. Facts say otherwise.
Def a visionary
Amazing video
Nice short video. Thank you for making it. I just wish I could understand everything you said a little better. Greetings from a Lusitanian. :)
"One of the greatest and worst portuguese leaders in history" I totally agree with this statement, Salazar is the definition of "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
The first picture of Charles II was actually Charles II of England, the Stuart king, not Charles II Habsburg of Spain
Amasing video! Viriathus was born in Loriga, Portugal. Loriga is the ancient Lorica (the latin/roman name), was more 2600 years old.
Good job. Valuable addition to what people don't know about WWI.
Thanks ❤
well explained 👍👍
Another great video! Looking forward to the next video :)
One of the main reasons Portugal lost their empire is their humiliating defeat in Morocco at the battle of wadi Al makhazin

From the origins of Portugal to Estado Novo, passing from the Templar Order everything started in the city of Braga. Even the Germanics Swabians changed from arianism to Christianism. In Braga was decided that Christmas would be at 25th December, Thank god my ancestors didnt chose Summer...

Wow this was the best video of the series!! Well done to the people behind it 👏
Salazar rejected colonialism? Bad analysis. You should ask people of Angola and Mozambique what they think about that.
What part of the Angolan people? The communist MPLA elites? The starving lower class that can't get food because of the corrupt Angolan government's expenses or the white Luso-Angolans who were massacred, tortured and forced to flee the country because of the MPLA's genocide? Salazar united Angola, he gave rights to every race, he established equality. Even if he did it for support, he actually made reforms, unlike modern Angolan, Mozambican or Guinea-Bissauan leaders.
Agreed. The statement is utterly ridiculous from an historical and factual perspective .
My street neighbor was the driver who took the Funeral Military van to the train that leaved his hometown,Santa Comba Dão in july of 1970. You had few flaws,in general was a good general explaination,Congrats !
Not was the last Autoritirian regime in Europe. Was Spain in 1977 with Adolfo Suarez,Franco had died in 1975.
