Testing out the $35 Anko blowout brush on short hair
Hey lovelies!
Today I thought I'd test out the $35 Anko Hot Air Styler from Kmart (you can purchase it from target as well). Everyone has been raving about it and it seems like a pretty good dupe for some of the bigger brand blowout brushes.

How to hem pants at home WITHOUT a sewing machine
Переглядів 2213 місяці тому
Calling all my short girlies! Inevitably, and it almost always happens, when I shop for new pants, 9 times out of 10 I have to get them hemmed which I find really adds up! I live in Melbourne, Australia and it costs around $40 to get pants hemmed, a lot considering I only spent $40 on those pants!? They actually retail for $70 but I got them on special, but that's besides the point. Point is, a...

The tip for long, wide sleeves is new to me, thanks, I really needed this one. My tops and sweaters with wide sleeves are driving me nuts! I decided not to buy anymore, but have two already. The other problem with wide sleeves is that my lower arms get too cold in them, they’re always the first parts of me to get cold when the temps drop. I’ve been wearing arm covers or “sleeves” under them, but it doesn’t look great and they’re a nuisance. Perhaps this tip will help with that, too, it looks like the elastic bands might hold the sleeves in closer to the arms. I even tried narrowing the wide sleeves with my sewing machine, but the knits stretch right back out again, so this only helped a little.

Wearing a top that is tucked-in, or just covers the (natural-waist height) waistband, is always more flattering because it improves the apparent proportions of our bodies in any outfit so much. The one-third on top, two-thirds on bottom proportion is so much more attractive to us humans than when outfits divide our bodies into apparent half-and half lengthwise proportions. Plus, we have an in-built preference for a shorter-torso, long-legged look over a long-torso, short-legged one. I keep urging women of my age range (I’m 64) to give up those tunics and huge tops they wear to “hide the tummy”. Regardless of body size or shape, it’s always more flattering to show the front waist, or at any least some of it, preferably the center. I’m far from having a youthful, flat, tummy myself, but always tuck tops in or wear short ones. Longer tops are coming back in style again, but this time around they’re fitted and worn open from the hem to the waist, which is so much more flattering than that big, blocky shape created by tunics and long, big shirts. The best thing I ever did for my style was to edit out all those big, long tops from my wardrobe, but it took me several years to figure out why my relatively long legs always looked so stumpy.

I love wearing long-sleeved silk shirts and blouses, because I can roll the sleeves down for cooler weather, or roll them up for warmer. But, this fabric is so slippery, the sleeves come unrolled and fall down right away and I use this elastic-band hack to keep them up. As with the belt-end tip, I finally ordered some rubber bands of the right weight and size for this - a hair elastic is too heavy for very lightweight, silky-fabric sleeves. I use them constantly, so no more too-long cuffs brushing again a plate or buffet-dish of food, etc. (Almost all sleeves are too long for me because I’m petite and they’re sized for the tallest women, but it’s too expensive, $150+ each where I live in the US, to have all the cuffs moved up, if it’s even possible at all). I also iron the cuffs “in the round”, pressing out the creases caused from ironing the sleeves flat. Those creases give an increased rigidity to the cuffs, and make them move more as a unit, so that when worn down, that extra stiffness makes them more likely to get stained, even though I’m always quite careful. I discovered that I prefer the way my tops look without the cuff creases, anyway, they’re just an artifact from the standard ironing technique and don’t add anything to the aesthetic, so I now iron all my cotton and linen shirts this way, too. The cuffs do stay cleaner. I also buy my silk tops directly from Chinese designer/manufacturers, too, like Lily Silk, because the shorter lengths used in most Asian sizing work much better for me than US or EU standards do.

I lost 50 lbs. over the last few years, so my belts are all too big, with floppy ends. So, I use this elastic-band trick, too. Because I wear lots more of different color belts, I finally got some clear, colorless rubber bands of the correct size, they don’t show much. I like your video.🙂

@teampantsgaming5833 I am 152cm so just slightly shorter lol. I've never bought pants from Shein tbh! I've only bought from Dotti and Zara so far. I've seen this brand called Daisy Grace that looks like they've got amazing wide leg pants so I'm keen to give them a go after I have this bebe lol

@@JessicaHumphris I've tried Daisy Grace, absolute scam! I received them and they were just horrible. You know when it bunches up heaps around the front zip from poorly made pleats? I tried to return them and they overexaggerated how hard it was to do and offered me a partial refund instead which I took, then tossed the pants! When I try to look up reviews, tik tok only shows me Aritiza pant reviews which leads me to believe the influencers in the videos/pictures aren't even wearing Daisy Grace pants, which is common practice with these cheap pop up brands. I'll let you know how I go with the Shein pants :D x
