A Warning to the Curious by M R James
Good story and powerful narration 🎉, 👌
Thank you.
Wait a minute wait a minute I don't get it. Is it rats, is it a scarecrow, is it a man? These people just moved into the house and the people who are selling it said yeah there's some old guy up in one of the rooms but he's all chained up so you don't have to worry about him. Wt?? You can't keep someone locked up! Mrs Betts says she hasn't seen him and he's been a good little prisoner and cause no trouble never tried to come into the house.. isn't anyone missing this guy? How many years has this gone on? Does he have an ensuite? Who feeds him? Nobody sends for the doctor? What you just sell a house explaining to prospective buyers that there's some old guy the original landlord chained up in one of the bedrooms but don't worry he won't bother you. And these people go okay, that's cool, yeah, considerate sold?? I'm sorry, what??. Look I'm as okay with up in the air endings as the next person in these wonderful old stories but this one I just....no. they don't even check to see if he's still alive??? He never eats and never runs out of toilet paper?? Or is it a scarecrow. I don't know I guess I'm dumb but this completely defies all reason for me. lol
It’s simple; Richard is clearly the best creator in the space. Only one note: “More.”
Thank you! ☺️
Chilling story, beautifully narrated. It gave me a horror of scarecrows for years after I first read it in my teens!

Excellent job as usual. EF Benson is always a treat.

Not getting notifications 😭. Again found these 2 most recent uploads just yesterday! Very happy!
There should be 10k+ likes. Wonderful story and narration
Thank you!
Now THAT’s a ghastly tale! EF Benson + superb narration = a treat for me.
Really appreciate these readings. It's like listening to Radio 4 in days before everything went...like it is.
Thank you!
No one talks the way you do. It’s not prestigious, it’s snobby and you sound stupid. Stop please.
Very interesting ghost story with the stamp of EF Benson on it. Enjoyed listening to your marvelous narration Sir. Many thanks for sharing.
Slow down a bit and change the rhythm and melody of how you approach each line - it's very samey. In fact, it sounds like you're selling discounted carpets.
The descriptions this Benson fellow comes up with give me a joy I can't explain in my own words. He's really starting to rival Lovecraft as my favorite writer, and I only have you to thank for that, Mr Crowest. Wonderful name, by the way, particularly for this ghastly business.
