Scotland's Hunger Walls
On the top of some of Scotland's highest mountain in the North West Highlands you can find Hunger Walls, or Destitution Walls. Built by starving crofters in the 1840s, these walls were built in exchange for oat rations as the poorest battled against the Highland Potato Famine.

    the u.s is predicated on the taking of lands from the people, privatizing it, and destroying it. a good deal of the "border issue" here is a result of that, confounded by 44 years of $ht u.s policy in central America. bottom line, some people think they have rights over human movement sick

They are extremely educated people and enjoy arguing. Asking non-White Muslims where the location is also, moronic, because they will obviously know.

    The land they want to develop is abandoned and has nothing on it. It’s sandwiched in between Loch Lomond shores and the country park. It’s a perfect location for some inward investment. As someone who lives in the local authority and who supports Scottish tourism I really can’t see the issue here. The development will NOT threaten the national park or its beauty, but I will create jobs and inward investment to one of the poorest council authorities in Scotland

    • @eleanorcampbell1038
      @eleanorcampbell1038 5 місяців тому

      The jobs created will be low paid and likely seasonal. There are already issues with abandoned developments nearby, take Lomond Shores for example. I am not convinced this site will generate enough footfall for it to be financially viable in the long run with the weather we have here. The development of such a large site comparative to the size of Balloch is undoubtedly going to be disruptive to residents. Although there are promises to improve infrastructure on the A82, I am also unconvinced that this is going to be enough to mitigate what are already awful traffic conditions on the main road up the West Coast of the country. It just doesn’t seem like the smartest location for such a development. The sites are currently green spaces, although I understand that some don’t see these as adding value to the community I completely disagree. Green spaces are important for mental and physical health. I used both of these spaces daily for exercise. A lot of Balloch residents are against this development. I Hope LLTNP listen and are not short sighted

    We live in the countryside in a cottage, we don't have loads of land but regardless, naturally we like to explore our surroundings. We sometimes encounter this neighbour who owns hundreds of acres, once or twice a year we might encounter them on their path by the river Doon, its always a bit awkward, they clearly don't like us being there and they sometimes mention it's private. I never know what to say, i kind of understand why they are protective and defensive. But obviously we are being respectful and just passing through and its not like its their back garden, its probably a mile from their house, additionally, they own all this land on a greenbelt surrounding a town of 50k people, youd think they would be accepting of the fact that many of those people are not so fortunate to own hundreds of acres and might want to get out. Anyway i would appreciate any thoughts on this, should i say something? I don't want to be cheeky but sometimes people could do with being more informed

      ...or read a book, if you have a selective historical knowledge. I'd start with the best-seller of all time. Then read about the expulsion of the Jews from their country, which was called Israel. It was Emperor Hadrian in 135CE, and he decided to remain their country. Check it out. Once you have done this exceptionally simple task that a "truth seeker and learner" will adore, you will be fascinated to know that you were not only ignorant of the name of the area, but then when you read about how the borders were artificially created, and moved, and redrawn, and then partly renamed TransJordan (because of the river, of course, which you will have read about already in the aforementioned 'best seller'), you'll realise that you are in fact, either a product of propaganda and lies, un- or ill-educated, or a moron. Good luck in becoming slightly knowledgeable.

      Genocide is "the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group." According to Craig Mokhiber, the UN official who resigned recently, while it can be difficult to determine intention, and to define at what point killing *becomes* genocide, what is happening now has hit that point. It seems like many people agree with these sentiments, that we are either approaching a genocide or that it has begun.

      Palestinian land when? Dude they were barely living in a few cities while most of the land was uninhabited desert and swamp lands. The Jews literally bought land that was cheap due to widespread Malaria, and then literally removed the Malaria and now it's extinct in the region. That's also non-coincidentally where the Jews ended up living after buying the land using Donations from Jews abroad, and where Tel-aviv and most cities in the center of Israel popped up... Entirely founded by Jews in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It was not 'Palestinian' land. Everyone before 1948 were considered Palestinian, even the Jews not to mention it was literally entirely under the Ottoman empire, meaning they never even had national claim on the land either. And forgetting to mention the bigger half of the Mandate that was entirely given to Arabs called "Jordan" inside "Trans-Jordan" Then people mention the Jews ethnically cleansing the Arabs? When they literally had a constant population increase since the start to today, with thousands not even native but came for work from Egypt? Not to mention the same people forget to mention violent attacks on Jews by arabs in numerous locations inside the mandate, such as the Hebron massacre of 1929. Or how they complain that Palestinians were 'kicked' from their land, while infact those who stayed got Israeli citizenship while in the meanwhile, Hundreds of Thousands of Jews in Arab countries were forced to leave after violent pogroms from the entire Arab world, From Morocco to Iran. With now having the entire Arab world nearly eradicating their Jewish population. Palestinians had their chance, they are ruining it for themselves time and time again, and if they don't actually develop themselves and remove corruption, they have no chance of reclaiming anything let alone creating a functional state.@@handler654

      The People living there were displaced. Lock, stock, barrel. They've been living there for about 1500+ years in continuity, without breaks. The Jews were brought in by design. They showed the Arabs big cash. Jews bought many lands. But still in 1948, Arabs owned more than 85% of the land. And the United Nations (as per Britain's plan) told the Arabs to go settle in 43% of the land. Even after all the conspired, engineered and designed mass migrations from the 1880s to 1947, when the UN declared its plan in 1947 - the Arabs were 75% of the population. At the very least 2/3rds. But they got about 43% of the land even after holding more than 85% of the land, and being in majority. Within a year, in 1948, Palestinians were displaced, more Jews arrived and the Jews became 82%! Those displaced Palestinians who went off to Jordan, Lebanon, Syria etc...were never allowed to return by Israel. Israel is a country erected out of deception, and maintained by oppression, and influence. Free Palestine!!
