I'm currently an seasonal employee at Target (been here since October) and when I say that Target is easily one of the WORST jobs I've ever had, it's literally hell on earth. And I'm not even overexaggerating. My position is GM (General Merchandising) but I've worked in other departments as well. And when I tell you that Target has unrealistic, and very high expectations that they want their employees to follow, I'm completely amazed and flabbergasted at these crazy requirements that are expected and listed for us to follow and complete. Especially in a timely manner. This is a list of reasons as to why Target (at least the specific location that I'm currently at) is the absolute worst. 1. They have you doing everybody else's jobs but get mad at you when you're unable to complete your own tasks. 2. I don't know about anybody else, but the scheduling here at Target is HORRIBLE. The schedule they make and have for us employees is all over the place. For example, one day I'm working from 5:00AM - 11:00AM. The next day I'm working from 9:45AM - 5:00PM. The day after that I'm working from 12:00PM - 5:00PM. Then the next day after that, I'm working from 3:00PM - 7:00PM. Like what? Why can't I just have a set schedule, Target. Why is the scheduling here so inconsistent? 3. This job is mentally draining. Obviously, It's expected to be physically exhausted at/after work. I mean, you're literally at work. You're constantly moving around and engaging in tasks that are assigned to you by your TL and ETL. But, Target is very mentally draining. Not only am I dealing with negative customers sometimes, but I'm also dealing with rude TL's and regular employees. Which is pretty ironic because at my orientation, they mentioned that they were very big on mental health. But the two months that I've been here, my mental health has been totally wrecked. 4. Favoritism. Favoritism is real. My TL's and even ETL's display a high level of favoritism to certain employee's. Employee's that slack up, are constantly late to work, and just overall aren't good workers, get treated far and way better then us actual GOOD employees. I show up to work 30 minutes early from the time I'm scheduled, never been late, never called in, always try to finish my work and even would volunteer to help out in other departments. Especially when they're short-staffed and desperately need people. I could go on and on. But, I'll just stop here. Sorry for the long paragraphs. I just had to release this rant. But I'm only speaking for my Target and how my Target operates. I'm pretty sure that their are other Target locations with better staff, realistic expectations, and more professional management. But the one I'm at, HORRIBLE.

UPDATE: For everyone asking, no I do not work at Target anymore. As of now, I’m trying to start a business and work for myself. Unfortunately, we live in a society where you will be overworked and underpaid and people expect you to be okay with that. I want to break the cycle. 🙌🏾 ✨ Ultimately why I left - If feel like it’s really up to the management team to help the employees feel comfortable. What I realized while working at Target is that they’re a very money motivated company. They put everything that’s not related to money/their image last, especially the employees. I don’t wanna say it’s a toxic environment but honestly, it’s just not worth the pay. NO JOB IS WORTH IT IF ITS SUCKING THE ENERGY OUT OF YOU!!! Now for people who are interested in Target please understand - I wouldn’t mind working at another Target location with different management, welcoming staff & more structure in the future. I just could never see myself working at the same location again. I had to go. 😂

I did target for a part time gig and i worked one day on the floor and didn't come back I was a style consultant for the home/candles etc area. Yea ill pass lol. It was 3 of us doing everything. I found out we had to climb the big asz ladder that was a no. Hiring process for me was easy i applied and got a call 30mins later. Got the 1st interview, did the video interview, got the job offer 2 days later, and started 2 days later. It sounded fun until i got on the floor. The pay wasn't worth the work. I'll go back to my desk jobs, lol

Why did you leave Target?

do you still work there? if so wat do u think of the job? i just got hired as a gm food and beverage expert so ill be working 4am to 12pm, and i am excited because i have been fighting for this job since 2018, but i got rejected because i didnt have an answer for one of their situational questions back then. years later i have more experience with working in retail and fast food to even answer everything perfectly, and they need me badly XD. they are desperate for people right now which is probably the reason why i got hired, not only that, people are going back to school which makes a lot of sense why i even got the job. im tired of fast food and the food industry serving them food and dealing with their greed. now im gonna stock and worry about what i need to at work and do it with a nice team and management. i got to learn their names and have fun conversations with them in my in person interview which was soo nice. Idky but target is one job i actually put on my bucket list and dreamt of working since they kept rejecting me for years. i love the environment, i love the friendly hospitality, and i am excited to give my time to them and aim to become a team lead one day, hopefully in a year or earlier than that. the management is all in for ppl who want to become a team lead as long as you show up and do your job and act like a team player or lead. any tips for a new target employee such as myself you can share?

I’m so nervous, my orientation is in 4 days 😫😫My in person interview was crazy.. i was in a room alone with 3 other people interviewing me but they didn’t call back until 5 days 😭😭

today was my first official day on the floor in the style department. Was suppose to be getting trained, trainer was late so they just had me zone (hr just gave me the basics but didn’t explain at all what to do with clothing that was on the floor that had nowhere to be placed, etc but expected me to have an empty go back cart by the end of my shift). When my trainer got to me, she said she had other stuff to do and would be back, my shift ended and she never came so I didn’t learn anything. I feel like they just don’t care to teach their new hires at all. I learn by doing things and seeing things being done first hand but I’m getting none of that. It’s so frustrating

For your future employment I would suggest you get rid of the facial piercings. The long lashes are also not advisable. Your natural nails are perfect. Long claw nails and too much jewelry are also frowned upon by some in hiring. Good luck!

You did great and you look AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL. I love watching your videos, you actually make my day better. My 2023 was HORRIBLE lbvs but I made it through by the grace of God. Last year I spent a lot of time taking care of my husband. He was in and out of the hospital, so I didn't get to do much for myself. Thankfully he is doing better now so this year I want to spend more time working on myself and doing the things that I love. And what do you use on your skin to cleanse it and keep it moisturized ?
