The latest episode of the artim film series is dedicated to the work of Roma Hałat, a painter and longtime lecturer at the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Curator Katarzyna Piskorz highlights Hałat's artistic achievements, discussing the most significant series of works in which inspirations from nature and tradition intertwine. Agata Pązik, the artist’s daughter, shares memories of her mother’s daily creative routines and reveals the philosophy behind the "Triads" series - a multilayered body of work that reflects the uncertainties and complexities of human life.
Roma Hałat (1937-2012) was a visual artist known for her unique blend of traditional techniques and modern forms of expression. She graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź and began her teaching career at her alma mater in 1962, serving as an assistant to Teresa Tyszkiewicz in the Textile Printing Design Studio. From 1959 to 1963, she was a member of the literary and artistic group “Nowa Linia” (“New Line”) and in 1969, she co-founded the group „Konkret” (“Concrete”) in 1985, she collaborated with Gallery 86 in Łódź, and in 2007, she received the Gloria Artis Silver Medal for Merit to Culture.
Hałat’s works are included in the collections of several prestigious institutions, such as the Museum of Art in Łódź, the National Museum in Szczecin, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Radom, the Mazurian Museum in Olsztyn, the Albertina Museum in Vienna, the Mondriaanhuis Museum in Amersfoort, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. Her creations, inspired by nature and human memory, seamlessly blend painting and drawing to explore the intricate relationships between space and materiality.
