1930 Ford Model A Roadster Intro Part 1
The metal floor was factory over the wood. They changed mid year in 1950 to a smooth bed side and wood only. The floor would rust or get ripped up and people removed them. It's unusual to see one still intact. Previous owner stick welded an 1/8" plate in the bed of my 52. The wood was rotten and falling apart underneath it.
Interesting! Thank you for the information! Something I didn't know! Thanks for watching!
Assuming he put gas and oil in it... But the tires had to have been dry rotted long ago. So i guess he worked on it and got it running.
We changed the oil, freed up two stuck valves, and aired up the tires that it had on it. One has a slow leak, but the other 3 are still holding air! Pretty crazy!
I have a 30 ill be featuring on the channel soon! Subbed! Also in oregon, eugene area
I'm just over the hill from Springfield. Over Marcola.
Luv your flags out front! F.J.B.!
The most honest pic was @ 8:40
Your channel just popped up on my feed. Nice work and great presentation. I subbed
Thanks!
Cool car and thanks for sharing. Now get some miles on it! -Spanky
Sweet flat head 😘
I had a 31 Model A Tudor, powered by 283 Chevy and 3 spd. trans. Seems like a very reasonable price for that rig.
Glad you are staying busy even with the Oregon weather. I’m in Oregon City trying to get my shop done and more comfortable and organized so I can be more productive. I have a 30-31 5 window coupe I’m putting a 327 with a five speed transmission . Hopefully the weather dries up and gets warmer so I can finish sheet rocking and painting the shop. Then I can put the chassis together and assemble the body to see what I’m missing there’s always something to look for when taking over a project that someone else disassembled.
Thanks for following what we are doing! We are ready for summer too! Oregon City is about 2 hours north of us. Good luck with your projects!
Yes , this stuff gets more scarce all the time!
That looks like a great start ! I love those flat heads, they sound great !
I need to do an update video. I have basically finished the chassis and have moved on to finishing the body.
@@resiliencemotors I will follow your progress! Looks like it will be pretty cool!
First I saw your channel, I will subscribe.
You have probably sold this by now. U think it is a very nice car , the repairs it needs are very easy to do and are relatively cheap. It's very sharp and I love the red wheels, I think they look better than regular model A wheels. To me, price is fair. If I owned it, I would use it as a daily driver in nice weather ! Model A parts are very accessible and relatively cheap, a perfect car to drive! Hope you had a successful sale!
Still have it. I've done most of the repairs and it will be going back up for sale soon.
@@resiliencemotors I'm in WI , but would certainly look at it otherwise, if it's as good as your video, you should easily sell it! 30 -31 are my favorite, while I like any brand from about 29 to 34, model As are the most practical, add an overdrive and it will make a great driving car !
Nice car! It could well be an early '31 ; Ford did not suddenly stop using the '30 'shell, they used them all up before using the 'new''shell. The índent 'firewall did not become universal until mid '31. It has the one piece splash shields which was used for '31. I have a late '30 which was not sold until '31, but that another story... Cheers.
How much do you want. Where do you live.
I have it priced at 14800. Ive done a ton of work to it since this video. Ill be doing a new walk around this coming weekend.
Way cool
Way cool man, i am located by eugene and i buy and sell hot rod parts in addition to my channel. If you need any parts feel free to reach out!
Nice car, even has a interior heater on it,,rare back in the day.
Yes! Keep an eye out for the reveal next week. We overhauled the motor! It looks fantastic!
Oh you poor thing your 32 has a tiny hole
No. 31 for sure Chum.
Where are you at , I bought a five window coupe 15yrs ago by my father n laws in Odessa for five hundred bucs ,it was a 12 hour drive to take his daughter to see him acouple times a year so , me an my son were goin to bring a motor an tranny an work on while we visit his papaw , as soon as we lef , the bastard sold it , said it was worst than a junk tractor , ive never went back are talk to him like I said over 15years ago
How much for it ??
It was 2900. It sold.
I so wished I could get this. I like these better than the coupes.. but really like coupes and roadsters
The deciding factor for me was I already have a coupe (closed cab car), so the roadster will be a great addition to the fleet. Don't get me wrong though, the Tudor is probably one of the best Model A bodies made.
@@resiliencemotors I'm interested
Great looking start. The similarities between your combination and the one I'm building are huge so far. Henry Deluxe roadster, rumble seat, original frame, 51 8BA, T5, open drive from speedway, dropped axle, juice brakes, deuce grill (cheap Chinese), split wishbone, etc. I want to try it unboxed to see how I like it, and I used a spring behind 37 axle and lengthened the frame (8.25" if I remember) so it wasn't necessary to cut the body. That does interfere with the rumble a little but I'm just using it as a backwards trunk. I did go with 35/36 wire wheels with bigs n littles. If you do go to them check them for straight before you buy or especially before you powdercoat $$$ lol. I'll be following for inspiration. Thanks for sharing your work. Jim from Ohio
I wish I would have done the spring behind with a lengthened frame. There's nothing like the sound of a flatty! Thanks for watching!
Nice original two-blade fan. But speaking from experience, you'd best replace that with a cast aluminium equivalent (or nasty riveted four-blade fan) Yeah, one time I was on a long journey doing about 40 mph then suddenly an up-dent appears in the hood. Good honest walk around, man.
Yes, the fan is on the list. I've actually started to tackle the list of issues since now one has purchased yet. Right now, I am.ij the process of doing the head gasket and putting a new exhaust manifold on the motor. I like to be transparent. It's important to me to deliver an honest product. Thanks for watching!
Ah, so your one of the guys I compete with on marketplace haha
Could be. 😆
@@resiliencemotors it’s on haha!
How do i get ahold of you?
There is a link to the Facebook ad in the description.
Nice car at a very fair price. Good of you to point out the positives and negative issues. I hope it sells quickly for you.
Thank you, sir. This week, we are going to tackle the exhaust leak. Will continue to make it better as long as we have it.
Looks like it would make a good driver, just needs some love...
Absolutely. Thanks for watching!
👀...🔥👍😎👍🔥
Wrong interior, bad top, wrong paint on engine. Wrong wheels, old paint, rusted doors, way too much money.
Thanks for your input! 😀
How about the name, “Clara.” After Actress Clara Bow, she was a “Hotsy Totsy.” She probably match the V-8 as a real Firecracker. By the way that what I call my 1930 Model A Coupe. Thanks!
Where in ORegon?
Near Eugene
Great presentation...
I have a 1931 MODEL A -TUDOR , check out SNYDER'S ANTIQUE AUTO PARTS for parts to restore your ROADSTER, good luck with your build, can't beat a MODEL A FORD!
I think it is a 31 if that is what he title says...the radiator shroud could have been replaced and the indented firewall was not on all 31's. It was changed due to a law suit in PA and not all firewalls were indented, ford always used what they had till they were used up...I think its a great price, car looks great and some people are asking so much more for a car that does not even run or look half as good as that one...oh and that model b motor is a plus... oil is cheap.. keep the faith, just wish you were closer...
I appreciate the input! Thanks for watching! 😀
As for the keyboard critics: don’t like the price, then don’t buy it - problem solved! I’m retired from a 30 year career in the car business and it was always a mystery to me why some people think it’s a winning strategy to be hard on the price. When I bought and sold cars every day I always priced in the sweet spot where it kept cars moving off the lot with a profit that made business sense. This is a small time seller who is familiar with the market. Buy the car if it’s what you want and compares well against others you are considering. If not, then go make your deal on whatever else you are considering.
Appreciate the kind words. Yeah, I am small. Only sell one rig a month to keep me afloat. Do this so I can work for myself. If no one buys it, stuff will start getting fixed, and the price will go up. You know the gig.
Not a turn key car. Would offer maybe $7500-8000 tops.
You would be hard pressed to find a 30/31 tudor this nice for 8k with todays current values.
Have to say I really like the wheels and white es tires. Honestly when I was a kid in Fort Lauderdale there was a car exactly like this that was parked on the side of an Atlantic brand gas station during the. day and the guy would pull it in one of the bays at night. This was around 1962 or 63. Have always liked the look....
It's not rough but it's also not original and it's not worth 12,500 good luck
Think you are out of touch with current values there, sir.
@@resiliencemotors not going to get into a battle with you over a opinion but I will say this I own 10 A- model Ford and 12 T- models N models S models F models etc. I'm quite sure that I know what I'm talking about it maybe $ 12.500 to you and someone who doesn't have a clue to a collector not a chance if you are interested in a A- model that I own it's a original cannot say unrestored because it has been repainted. 190,000
@@ontargetthomunclesam3926 appreciate your insight, sir.
Where are you located? I assume Washington state? I do wish you were closer! (I'm in Florida!)
Oregon. Yeah, Florida is a trip!
Very interested do you still have it
I do.
Do u still have it?
Yup. Sure do.
Would love to see and hear a cold start on it. Show us the full procedure from inside! Such a cool car.
I have been thinking about doing a short video on how to cold start these cars. They take you back in time.
@@resiliencemotors Please make cold start videos on all of them. It would make for such cool content - show us what you do with any levers, controls, and pedals. Would be awesome! And something new cars can never reproduce.
pretty nice automobile, fair price also... Too bad your on the West coast... I'd love to test drive it/ see it in person... always wanted one of these...
Thank you, sir. I really like these cars. The simplicity is just absolute bliss in times of chaos. Great rigs to poke around on country roads to heal the soul.
I think it's bitchin to tell you the truth. The fun I could have chopping the crap out of it.
That was my original plan. I was going to use it for my hot-rod build. landed a roadster body so that changed my direction.
If the title has it written as a 30, than that's what it. Same as if the title has 31 on it, it's a 31
Not true. Left-over 1930 cars that were sold in 1931 could have a 1931 title; that doesn't make the car a 1931. Same thing for 1931 cars sold in late 1930.
really to be honest if you know how cars are sold there made the year before and sold the next to make sure there are enough cars to meet demand . so if its a 31 it will be a 30 and if its a 30 it will be a 29 . but he is going on a rad cap so really he dont know ether . my guess its a 31 on tittle but it was made for sale in 30 . so he is right and wrong . cant go by the rad cap . tittle says 31 its a 31 . but assembled more then likely in 30 .
Looks like a really good start so far! You’ll love how a T5 feels behind a Flathead.
Thanks, man! 👊
Thanks for the shout out Tim! Word of mouth keeps the business alive.
No problem, homie! 😊
Great start. I like it! I need a roadster in my life LOL.
A roadster is where it's at. So I have been told. 😎
