    Hey, nice viedo. What wire size are you using? I have been welding 12mm plate, 15 degree bottom plate angle, 45 degree top plate angle. I am struggling to get fusion between runs at wfs 4m per minute at 22V with a push technique at 10 degree travel angle using 0.9 wire size.

    • @weldtechsolutions
      @weldtechsolutions Місяць тому

      What is your gap size? The settings here are based on 1mm wire so slight adjustments will need to be made for 0.8 wire. The root for us was 17.5 volts and wire speed 4.4 metres per minute with 2.4mm gap.

      @@weldtechsolutions Hi brother Thanks for replying I used amperage from 60 to 100 to weld with 6013 overhead and vertical positions but no success but i have never known about changing polarity. Evertime i weld vertical puddle just flows down and drips to the ground. Size of rods 2.5 mm 3 mm

    • @weldtechsolutions
      @weldtechsolutions 4 місяці тому

      @vorsprung2330 I would use electrode positive. Amps for a 2.5mm I would look at around 80 for vertical and around 90 for overhead. You rod angle for vertical needs to be around 15 degrees pointing up. When you put a slight weave on vertical thats to spread the heat to keep your weld pool cooler so you can defy gravity. Ill have a look at vids that would help you and get back to you.

    It doesn't matter what you're welding, it doesnt matter if it's coded work or not. A cursive technique or some other technique that involves you leaving the root and focusing more on the side wall penetration is much better for corner joints.

    Three runs easy to cap the gap, four if you wanna run a thinner bead and make it fancy. But it really depends more on the welders skill and preference. Personally, id do three just so its done and looks standard. You throw anything fancy or extra in there and it might just screw everything up. Fancy is for art, standard is for work, never let them know you can make it look pretty.

    Great video, and great joint/exercise to skill build. Your prep on that is great too !! Been training the non-dominant hand for about 2 years now, Had 8 years of tig experience with one hand prior, went to a beginners tig night class and taught the other hand from the basic joints. In work I started giving my left hand easy jobs, welds that were short, - got hidden/ground off, Then as it got more proficiency started putting it on symetrical joints, so that my right hand was basically showing my left how to do it. "Copy this". The dividens have payed off 2 years later, in a production/turn-table job now for a small company, It has minimised fatiguing being able to swap hands, makes some joints easier. All the overtime under the sun is more sustainable - obviously we shouldn't be burning ourselves out, but in this world - sometimes ya just gotta make the money. Well worth it to train up the non-dominant hand to anybody who is thinking about it. And if anyone is wanting to make a 6G test easier, This will serve you well.

      If I remember correctly it was around 100amps

  • @shaun-o4360
    @shaun-o4360 7 місяців тому

    Right one is 100 amps. Heat equivalent to time not amperage. 60 amps takes much longer than 100 amps so it increases overall heat input

    • @weldtechsolutions
      @weldtechsolutions 7 місяців тому

      Correct however you disturb less properties in the material therefor keeping it from turning to martensite and hardening. keeping the heat effected zone smaller, I do know what you are saying with the heat input if it takes longer which is also true. It’s clear you know your welding and are expirenced in the field so you could counteract this with a faster welding speed. However a beginner would not be able to do this. Would be interesting to do the sums on this and put the actual kj/mm heat input in. We will have to look at this in a future video.
