Hi, thanks for watching my video and I understand what you mean. I think the residential development as a whole will stay but I'm not convinced that all the commercial units will. Perhaps the location and restaurants are blighted by the competition from the Mar Menor Golf Resort? Maybe the geographical location isn't the best, but I do hear good reports from locals who frequent the restaurants and bars on a regular basis. It's still going strong after a number of years.

Hi Janine, thank you. I’m all better now and not on antibiotics any more. No more dressings too! I’ve got big circular scars from the mosquito bites and an itchy scar from the spider bite. I didn’t feel the bites as they happened, oddly, not even the spider bite, which surprised me but not the doctor. I didn’t say this in the video but when I asked the doctor what size the spider was, he ran his finger around the edge of the palm of his hand! I thought he was joking but he was deadly serious. Hi, thanks for watching my video. I wish I had an easy Yes/No answer for you concerning if people live full time at golf resorts. The truth is that some do and some don’t; the Mar Menor golf resort has a large full time community compared to some other resorts and I know many people live year round at Villa Martin golf. I know some owners who purchased properties as their holiday homes who have gradually migrated to full time living, but these tend to be older folk who have a monthly income like a pension to keep them going. For me, I’d happily live in Spain or France, or Switzerland….I have a large list! I don’t have any stats regarding the percentage of owner occupiers against holiday homes but if I find some, I’ll be sure to post them. Thanks again for checking out my video. Matt

I originally intended to make the video in the evening but it would be too busy and there’d be copyright music playing everywhere. Believe me, it gets very, very busy when the sun goes down. The food and accommodation are excellent and the facilities are superb. The service is fab and I love the mini Molton Brown toiletries in the rooms! Hi, sorry for the huge delay in replying. I sold the Sony first and then the Leica. I used the funds and moved to Fuji, which I’m still using. Both the RX1 and the Q2 are big players still though.

Hi Michael, thanks for asking. I guess the main selling point for me at the time, was size. The A7RIII is technically superior in pretty much everything except for resolution but I wasn't looking for a DSLR with interchangeable lenses. The RX1R II can only shoot video in HD but I wasn't looking for video either. It was purely the compact size and the punch the RX1 RII packed. I should have kept it... Best regards, Matt

Been twice..it’s a great place to holiday..lots of good places to eat and drink! The beach is good and didn’t get too crowded..

Well spotted with the pronunciation (it sticks out to me and I have a cringe moment when I hear myself say it). You are absolutely correct, I mispronounce it in some videos - I drag the third 'a' in the word Alcazares when it should be short. Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa is a premium hotel complex in an excellent location in Dubai. I have been visiting it for the last 25 years (I think) and remember when all around it was desert! Kind regards, Matt

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. For what it's worth, I would buy in this development if I was looking to buy a lock-up-and-leave holiday property, but that's me. I know the area reasonably well and have been visiting for about 20+ years. Back in the day, I remember the Polaris World TV adverts with Jack Nicklaus saying how good it is and I was sold! I have to say, in all the years since being built. this development has always been one of the best I've seen for the money and lifestyle. It's a place I return to year after year as it is constantly excellent. The restaurants and pub are very good too. There was a time when there was a glut in Spanish properties similar to these being sold (here and in other resorts) and the world was going crazy buying in Spain. Unfortunately, the down turn was inevitable and lots of people ran into negative equity or worse, had their properties repossessed, plus developers were also going out of business. This resort has experienced ups and downs but in my opinion, the ups have outweighed the downs. Do your research and factor in the short, medium and long term, as things can change quickly. Speak to professionals who can help you as all of this is just my opinion gained over the last 20 years or so. Hopefully you'll be visiting the Mar Menor Golf Resort and Spa soon. Kind regards, Matt

Hi Matt, nice to see a vid of Los Alc. The 'iconic' arrow-shaped building at the beginning has a restuarant called 'The Asia Star.' They do an 'early bird' menu up until about 7:30pm. Full meal with glass of wine was about €6.50 Then still good vaue later on. Excellent food. Then, you spend too much time on a boring walk down the long road (means you have to think of things to say to pass the time)- might have been better to say where you were heading and speed up vid until you actually reach what is called 'The Strip.' But loved that you did the video and hope you will do more.

Making videos is out of my comfort zone as I become very self-conscious. I take photos mainly and the video side has sort of happened by accident. @@mattcarter-bennett i personally think this is a perfectly executed video! As a regular, at Los Alcazares, I think you really captured the friendly, wholesome environment that that beautiful place really is.

El Patio is lovely! Very Spanish and very friendly, the service is great. Also the Spanish do holiday here in July and August :) Back to the restaurants... Heming-Way and Little Sicily are lovely restaurants if you are happy to spend a bit more for a nice meal. The Tipsy thistle is a great place that's inexpensive but very good so for us it's a must visit even if for a snack for lunch. Great Video :)
