Its sad people hate on Ranni so much. Like if these people played the game with their eyes open they would know Ranni ending is arguably the best outcome of any Soulslike game. It rids the world of every major factor that help power over the Lands Between and gives the people back their free will and are truly and completely free. They choose how they live their lives. They choose their own fate. Every step forward is their own. Ranni ending is literally the best ending and the fact people can’t even understand that is crazy to me. At least Miyazaki used the DLC to show these dumb fucks what Ranni is about 😂

The night is cold, the stars shine, it is dark. You can feel the chill of the air around you and the water rippling at your feet. “Upon my name as Ranni, goddess of the full moon,” howls from the twinkling sky above you. The stars in the sky moving, tearing through the air, forms the silhouette of the goddess. “I shall ensure, our voyage will not end prematurely,” she says. The elden lord holds their blade aloft, misty blue frost surrounds the blade, the sky seems brighter. You stagger back in awe, perhaps fear._ Phase 2 Cutscene: _The elden lord falls to their knees, setting the glowing blue blade into the pool of water below you. The water freezes instantly, ice juts up around you, the stars glisten as bright as the sun, and on the blade the stars reflect, more than doubling the length of the sword. Ranni speaks again, “You are not meant for such a thing as this, the greater will is dead… and yet, i see the same fire in you… as my consort eternal. The fire that forced upon my consort, the title of Elden Lord. The flame, of ambition. So come fourth. Dance with the eternal consort of the stars, and their endless night.”_ On player death, phase 1: _“It is not your fate.”_ On player death, phase 2: _“My consort eternal, shall for eternity be.”_ On boss death: _“Ahh… how could this…? The greater will… is dead…”_

Still a missed opportunity not making it into a battle of the Consorts.

So many people think the Age of Stars is a bad thing. But its not. I can only believe this is because of two reasons. One, people assume that because she did some awful stuff to bring about her Age, that it makes her plan an automatically bad one, and means she has bad intentions. Its not the case. A lot of the worst things done in this world have been done by people with the best of intentions. And you have benefited from some of those things if you live in a first world country. Two, due to some mistranslations from japanese to english, people have misinterpeted the proper meaning of Ranni's ending. She's not doing it for herself, she's not serving some other god being like almost everyone else, instead she's trying to lead the world into a future FREE of outside influence, no gods and eldritch monsters, just free will and logic. She wants everyone to be free to make make their own decisions without influence, for good or for ill. She is the first to truly throw off the shackles of the "divine" outer beings, to usher in an age ruled by MORTALS, not the demi-god puppets of great beings. Every other age saw the rule of mere vessels of primordial beings, from the recent puppet Marika and her own puppet Elden Lord Godfrey and their Golden Age, all the way back to the very first Elden Lord Placudisax. Every single previous Age has fallen, crumbling under the weight of their rulers own corruption, or taken over by the machinations of the servants of other outer beings, in a seemingly never ending cycle. Ranni works to break that cycle.

I can imaging a three phase fight like a cross between loretta and soul of cinder. 1st phase on torrent doing double jumps over you, then gets knocked off during transition to 2nd phase, becoming similar to SoC switching between builds, and then 3rd phase, ranni on the back with dark moon wave attacks.
