Netflix Bumblebee is being re-released alongside gears in the retro packaging.
Good shout, meant to mention that. I think the exclusive licence ended, that's why we are getting him and Soundwave in the "Netflix" moulds now.
This is where I got back into Transformers. 27th December 2018 I picked up Siege Skytread, because Flywheels was one of my fave G1 characters. 6 years later and I've just topped 1200 toys with only 30 or so being my originals from the 80s! Between about 1992-3 and then, the only Transformers stuff I picked up was the Armada game on PS2, I enjoyed it, but was a bit confused at the time by the changes in design, and the addition of Hot Shot and the minicons! I should have looked more into Transformers then, because I was very much into anime and that style. I'm looking forward to that and Prime especially. I watched some Cyberverse but kinda switched off when Cheetor came in, I need to go back to it. I am slowly working my way through all the TF series from G1 to now, currently going through Headmasters so its taking a while. I didn't even see the Movie till 86, and the Bay movies till 2020. I now collect Generations mostly, as well as my fembots ;) but I have most of the Prime Wars and WFC ranges. No Haslab Unicron though, I never really saw much of him in G1, having only had the comics, and never really liked him much. However I have read the IDW stories and absolutely love them, especially the lighter tone of MTMTE / Lost Light. The Prime Wars cartoon was a bit drab and dull, and WFC was going for a darker tone I think but it just didn't really play out. I didn't not enjoy the WFC Netflix show as much as got bored within the episodes. And the downbeat, defeated form of Optimus in Siege really put me off a little. It felt like sequel Star Wars' take on Luke Skywalker all over again. I wasn't too bothered in Big Powered until I saw Dai Atlas in IDW. I was lucky enough to get it at a good price, as well as the Takara Jumpstarters at retail so managed to make the full team. That Reconnaissance Team is glorious. even the instruction book is amazing. Siege Jetfire is ace, and he's almost like a playset with the ability to seat Prime Wars headmasters inside. I got the Pit Of Judgment for a not stupid price, but still about twice retail, shame it looks better in box than out of it! We've had awesome Hot Rod and Rodimus figures over the last few years. Kingdom Blaster and Netflix / Legacy G1 Universe Soundwave and their redecos are really cool to see, better than the Prime Wars ones. For me, the best Titan class is Omega Supreme, he is literally supreme for me! All the best to you both for 2025!
Cheers Guzzi! Glad you are enjoying the show. I do love reading all your responses in the comments :)
A strange thing... I had a Tripredacus! It was pretty cool even though I just bought it on a whim.
Definitely into the Dark Ages for me with regards to Transformers. I was vaguely aware of Beast Wars but didn't really connect it to Transformers. While animal modes etc aren't my thing, there is no doubt that Beast Wars kept the brand alive.
I again got a couple of toys from this year, probably more out of curiosity than anything else. I had Deluge and Ironfist. Comics in general were going through an edgy period in the early 90's, and G2 followed the trend. I'm not a fan of the Shattered Glass thing but I'd love to see a G2 revival. The comics we did get were awesome.
Rotorstorm is the only toy I have / had from this line and yeah he is gorgeous.
My collecting had mostly dribbled out by 1992. I was leaving school and starting a 2yr course in IT (which never went anywhere post graduation!). At this point I was far more interested in Sega Megadrive gaming, and leaning far harder into tabletop roleplay gaming. Although I did pick up Circuit, probably on a whim because oo pretty colours.
I had some of the Micromasters from this year but by this stage I was really getting out of toys. I was still collecting the comics but again was paying less and less attention to it. My interest was shifting towards the new edge of comics like Crisis, Marshal Law and the darker side of DC comics.
For me, Micromasters were the stand outs from 1989. I love em! great little fidget toys they are. In the comics, the wrestling match arc with Roadhandler was a bit odd but fun. The mechannibals were a laugh. And the Action Force crossovers merged 2 of my fave 3 toylines.
I wonder how this thing got released lmao like theres nothing good about this thing
It’s tragic! I almost feel sorry for it! It wasn’t exactly cheap either! I paid nearly five British pounds!
I'm not much of a watcher, more of a reader and thinker (headcanon) so never watched the Headmasters and following series at all. I'm slowly munching through Headmasters (subtitled, the only way to watch it) but it is hard work. Watching G1 for the first time properly in my 40's was also a slog. I can respect it, but for the most part I struggle to enjoy it. I think the comics had one of their best years with the amazing City Of Fear (it was Flywheel's depiction in this story that made him one of my fave characters and the Siege Skytread brought me back into collecting), Deadly Games and the Cosmic Carnival. Again, I didn't get a lot of toys from this year but oddly quite a few Pretenders even though I thought they were pretty stupid. I've never liked animal alt modes either, yet somehow I had Carnivac and Catilla. And I always think of that image of the 4 storey tall Autobot Pretenders as one of the dumbest moments of the G1 comics!
Looking at the toyline, I think I must have been more into Action Force or MASK in 1987. I didn't have many of the toys here. Only Hardhead (which I still think is awesome) Rodimus, Cyclonus, Scourge and the Duocons. The comics of course brought in Death's Head which was awesome, probably the stand out storyline of the year. Oh and Grimlock was made Autobot leader, the worst storyline of the year! :D
I’d definitely gone over to Mask and Action Force at this point and probably still He-Man. Transformers was still a thing for me but like you I didn’t have many from this era.
Again, I didn't see much of the cartoons from this year (or even the movie, unbelievably, didn't see that till 2019!) but the comics were amazing. The entire Smelting Pools / Spacebridge arc, the Predacons and Runabout / Runamuck's vandalism spree. Looking back, its quite surprising how many Transformers toys I had. My parents were both invalids (as was the term back then) so weren't earning a lot, but I had all 4 'Special' combiner teams (though not Devastator) although I don't think I had many of what we would now call deluxe class bots (for example, I didn't even see a Starscream up close till the late 2010s). I definitely got Hot Rod, Rodimus, Cyclonus, Scourge and a couple of triple changers, but never Galvatron. I started a paper round at age 12 but that was still 2 years away at this point.
As I’ve said before (Oddimus here) I’d seen barely any of the show at this point due to the awful way it was shown over here. But I did get to see the movie at the cinema. Would have killed for some combiners though! I only ever had one limb!
Oddly I didn't see the movie till many years later, but I had some of the movie toys. I only knew of them through Target 2006. Talking of Arcee, and female bots in general, we have third party to thank for a lot of the earliest examples. Including 3p, I currently have 71 Arcees!
That is a very respectable number of Arcees! Not quite to my level of Optimus but I would reckon you have the vast majority that have been made available!
@pttv1984 As far as I know, I only need one to have every single official Arcee release. Bad news is, its the Botcon 2001 redeco of Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia! Thats the best part of £1k there.
Is it g2 prime or different prime
Different, it’s the Volvo mould used for the Volvo version and the Target version. Allegedly it was supposed to be Amazon Prime initially, but it’s a totally different version from the G2 laser Prime :)
Holy shoot the background.
Awesome right?!? I bought it specifically for doing vids. Although it is a bit shiny. But it did come with a Prime so I’m happy :)
With the ribsigns there were the Mini Spies, not sure what year they were because I don't remember ever seeing them as a kid. I'm also didn't realise that they retro added the Watches to the main line up. Also, I think I'm the only one who doesn't like dinosaurs or Dinobots! I always thought they were a bit ridiculous especially as they didn't really have sensible disguises. And Grimlock was an ass in the comic.
C’mon! Everyone likes Dinosaurs!!! But yeah, Dinos as alt modes never made sense for “robots in disguise” but I guess the appeal of selling robot dinosaurs to kids will always trump logic! Plus they are cool - Oddimus
Im starting to listen to these while I'm at the gym, so gonna post my thoughts as it goes through. I can't remember my first TFs but for sure I had Gobots, Esso Racers, Robot Changers and I thought Grandstand Convertors first, but I may be off on some of the timelines. As well as Argos and Index there was Great Universal. Mum was a GU agent so I got some through there. I'm not sure if my first actual TF was Huffer but he's the first I remember. We weren't well off so when I saw him on a rack in B&Q and mum said we couldn't afford I accepted it. So when she turned back to me she sitting in the car and handed him to me... He's always meant something to me from that. Christmas 1984 I wanted Jazz. I remember walking up almost interminable stairs to Argos in Hanley only to find out he was out of stock (because of course) so I got Prowl instead. I didn't watch G1 much. I was aware of it but I've never had much attention span for TV so with it often being split in half on kids TV I don't think I watched a complete episode. But I had the comics, missed a few but solid from issue 17 till just after 300 where I gave it up. So to me of course Rumble is Red ;)
Awesome that you are are starting Guzzi! And thank you for sharing your stories! Totally forgot about Great Universal!
@pttv1984 I've been subbed for ages but don't usually listen to podcasts. Really enjoy this one though, so gonna catch up fast as I can ;)
I think most TF fans see 2010 as one of the top Peak years in terms of toys & media. Great show, game & toys all roll into one awesome year.
The Sandstorm/Springer mold is still ranked one of the all-time bests to this day for me. And probably a decade or two more. It's just insanely good looking, doesn't feel compromised in any of the 3 modes, big and priced right. Such a bargain. I can't imagine Hasbro will ever get near to that level of awesome at the Voyager price out ever. Thanks for the show!
NoOoOo, that was worth thousands 😭
I wish! This one was only a few hundred and wasn’t sealed so it’s not that bad ;)
@ few, still a bit much tho
@CaseyGriffin-g3v I’ve been holding off on getting one for ages, but this was a decent price :) one day I’ll get a nice sealed one that’s worth more!
@@oddimusprimeyeah, good idea

Nice little Megatron.
Heya! Can you make a long form video on this 3rd party Sharttered Glass Grimlock? He IS AWESOME. But I would like to see a vid on transformation, light up features... Thanks!
Mine is already here in the ph where I ordered it online.you can attach the gun to bumblebee hands and it's a 100 percent look like the classic stinger.

@@riverarivera4272 these are more akin to model kits than lego
OH! Defintely the TF Fall Of Cybertron Bruticus... XD XD Seriously though, Turns out that 2012 was a good year for me as I've pretty much got all of it other than a legion class EVAC (from the Universal ride) and the Jetpak Prime. Both of which will be buggers to hunt down. :P
I'm more invested in your Blokees advent calendar than I like to admit!
Doesn't commenting about the investment count as an admission? lol I think I missed a trick not delaying this to nearer crimbo!
Wow, didn't know blokees like that exist
They are the latest wave! Smaller but super fun, annoyingly there are several chase figures to collect, I only have 2/4 versions of Optimus so far! Resisting the urge to buy a second box...
@@pttv1984They do look pretty cool! I've ordered a box set too, so most likely it's going to be the same figs as it says for the first list:)
That lego ARC in the background is AWESOME!!!
I know right! It’s by NewAge toys, comes with a legends scale “hologram” Optimus! It’s called “Hardcore scenes Set D” if you want to look it up. Not cheap, but worth it imo.
