Just a Wee Yorkshireman trucking in the U.S.of A!
I'm a truck driver of 38 years now & I've loved every minute, ok maybe not every minute.
It all started on my 20th birthday when my dad informed me I was starting work at his friends haulage company(shit I didn't really want a job,it was the late 80's)Longbones Haulage Hull.
Fast forward to Christmas of 93 & at last my first international trip,Yugoslavia! Yes, a war zone. Beggars can't be choosers and it was an international trip; I'm on it. It gets better, I was in an FL6 with a pod on the top.
8 months later, I find myself landing a job in Spain for David Espana & living in Spain for 10 years.
Then back to the UK for 15 years of UK shunting, but still doing BIG motorcycle adventures. 2 trips to Morocco & countless trips to Europe,& my biggest 1 yet: a solo trip for Yorkshire Air ambulance to Kazakhstan,
You probably get the jist; I love traveling, so when my American wife said she wanted to move back to America I said...
HELL YEAH!

@@johnsturgess1718 they used to be quite a few unsavory hanging around that area back then
I did my key trick in North London (being based just outside of Manchester) nice warm day, drivers window down. Took the keys out of the ignition only for them to fly out of my hand and onto the road, literally a few seconds later a car ran over the keyand snapped it ! Luckily, i had just had a spare cut a couple of weeks prior to this incident 🙏
It really makes sense and saves Your lot of hassle
Your thinking is absolutely correct. You know I am a retired broadcast engineer.
@MrTmwilliamson thanks for verifying that I've been looking at them for a while thinking no that's just for show lol
Vern just imagine the worst scenario waking up finding a smashed window stark naked with a condom hanging out your ass would you get the police involved? Sorry I have retired now I have got to much time on my hands the mind goes into overdrive all the best Reggie Keep Em Lit 10/10
That center load looks good 👍

The CB’s in the uk we are lucky to get a few miles 😢
@lukegibbon9149 I find a lot of people buy a CB and the aerial put it up and don't tune in expecting it to work miracles !! I get this all the time over here as well. It's okay if your CB gets out but if the other guy you're talking to or passing hasn't tuned his in you're only going to get a mile , and in the end result this is why people don't bother with the CB, because they can't be bothered to tune in so it works properly. Same old same old if it doesn't work straight out the box people don't want to know
@@weeyorkshiremantrucking6754 it used to be great many moons ago. When they stopped us using Am, you couldn’t get the range.

Go to a chiropractor find out if they have a disk decompression machine. It definitely is a game changer for your back. If you have bulging disc or degenerative disc. Unfortunately, insurance doesn't usually cover.

@DavidLinney-k6v the truck now is in the National Museum of Transportation Missouri, A guy called Anthony used to own it that's who took me for the drive in it, he then sold it back to the original owner who bought it back in the museum again, when he sold it his grandson got in touch with me and has invited me to go over and see it anytime I'm over there, which is really nice I thought 🙃🙂
Vern sorry to be a pain in the arsp. Watched convoy for the god know how much time Seen the video where you was in one of the RB trucks. Have you do e any of the locations. I still get goose bumps watching it
@DavidLinney-k6v one of the rubber ducks trucks ?!? I think you mean the only one remaining, all the rest have disappeared off the face of the Earth, i did hear about another one that was being taken somewhere up in Canada but I never heard any more about it, Yes I've been to some of the locations, the cafe is Northeast out of Albuquerque but that's long gone basically just a shell of a place with chain link fencing around it, and there are a couple of places on us 550 heading north out of Albuquerque in New Mexico, I travel this road every time I go to Texas, one of the scenes on that road is where Lyle Wallace got squashed in between the two trucks, and the other scene is just off the 5:50 where they were driving through the desert , but there are a lot of people that say this wasn't the actual place it was somewhere else it's a 50/50 toss-up, Check out the making of Convoy on UA-cam there is some great footage and insight how the film was made Thanks for watching
Lumber Disc ? Or sciatica? I get the lumber disc shot wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy Yorkshire man carrying tates ? Stockdales of Seamer territories ! Great watch
@DerekDebC luckily it's just started to get better it's been just over a month now and the last two mornings I've managed to survive without taking any painkillers in the morning, Happy Days LOL, Thanks for watching
Stunning views... I need to be there at this moment in time 😟
Nice one Vern. Feel for you with the back, same here. Some whoppers those middle laners eh!? 😮
@@KJRS3001 it's a little better now thank you and thanks for watching
How do you manage without insurance? What happens if god forbid you hurt yourself & need some serious treatment? Or is that a separate type of insurance for medical emergencies?
@Kk18739 well if I have a medical emergency basically I'm f***** !! All hospitals will treat you without insurance and also give you credit so you can pay it for the rest of your life they're really good like that, lots of people over here have medical debts
@ i didn’t realise it was quite so bad that way. I knew you needed insurance but thought the costs would be reasonable to the average working man. We don’t realise how easy we have it here with the NHS.
From Scotland, was going to say sciatica, but then you mentioned you crouched down bingo feeling good, trapped nerve a possibly, or like us all old age sneaking in pulling the muscles .
@@kevingrier4958 I think it be the old age LOL it's not that funny though

Are the gearbox problems all in the past now Vern? Best thing for back muscular pain is gentle exercise and not laying down not moving from my experience also if you do use deep heat wash your hands well before havinga pee😅
@@stephenwilkinson2030 yeah everything good in the gearbox now and yes definitely exercise is the way. Also thank you for the wise advice
Wats your toughts on trump , think he might make the industry bit better , few more gilders in your pocket??
@lateagain7116 well what is just done with putting a tariff on Imports definitely isn't going to help me. My money maker of the year is The Cranberries play Old come out of Canada I don't know how they're going to absorb 25% also we do a lot of flowers out of Canada as well, not to mention the amount of produce and car parts that come in from Mexico this is going to push the price of living right up, I can't see any good coming out of this
@weeyorkshiremantrucking6754 that's what I was worried about. Hopefully works out 🤞
Must be an Amazon thing as some of them are like that over here in the U.K.,especially the ones from “Gungadin haulage”😂

Is the Freightliner truck the most popular in America
@@DrRobert7898 yes they hold quite a big chunk of the market, I really rate the engine that's in them a Detroit dd15
Cracking video as per. What’s the reason for the trucks heading the opposite way (looked like downhill on the clip) having their hazards on?

Strange there are no high speed trains in the US, although not sure if there is one in Florida now?
@@richardsimpson3943 public transport in the US I find is very behind Europe I'm England. You can get the Amtrak's which will take you right across the country but they're extremely expensive it's cheaper to fly, but one day I would like to do the train journey from one side of the country to the other, there is no trains that run from Seattle North any further than Vancouver you can't for example go all the way to Alaska that would be really cool
Hello Vern, I’m watching this from Alabama. I’ve been out West a few times but not to Montana yet. It’s always been a dream of mine to see it. I’ve lived my whole life in the SE US except for a few years in the Air Force. It’s a whole different world west of the Mississippi River. I always enjoy the banter and the rants are world class. On a side note, during my time in the Air Force (76-84) I had the good fortune to be around the RAF a few times in Nevada and up in Alberta, Canada. If any former RAF guy’s are in here I send you a hardy hello! Take care all.
