In this video I give a brief answer to the question of why countries trade with each other - it is because of different relative price (or opportunity cost) across countries, and these relative price differences stem from cross-country differences in demand and supply curves, which in turn depend on differences on preferences, technology, cost of resources (and more) across countries.

      In the demand equation for Joe, set P = 0. It will give you q = 60. Try to make sense of why we set P=0 from the axis on the graph.

      The capital owners are able to attract surplus labor from the agricultural sector without raising the real wage offered. It is this difference between what workers produce and the lower real wage that is reinvested (and which we call profit).
