I played this game when I was in 3rd grade. I was in my friend's house, and he was playing this game. I was amazed and want the game so badly, but I couldn't afford a high-end computer at that time.

I still remember what I did in my first game, more than 20 years ago, I was playing on the islands map and hadn't finished exploring my island so I decided to venture out to sea, I found another island with resources, then moved some workers there and Suddenly MY GOD, THE ISLAND IS OCCUPYED BY ANOTHER PLAYER, I decided to wall up my resources and over time the other player ended up surrendering, I haven't been able to reproduce this feeling of newness in any other game over the years.

Thanks for hosting and streaming this final...! :) I won't lie, 1:32:55 is going to 'haunt' me, hahah... Had we seen the king there, I would definitely have encouraged my team to keep playing, and to at least attempt a king snipe. Sadly, we didn't see it, hah... I was 4 when I first played AoE II. I'm 26 now. I'm grateful to my dad for letting me play his game.

I remember buying it for Christmas and was playing it for the first time on Christmas Eve while waiting for midnight. Comfy-est moment playing video games I can remember.

This is 25+ years ago! I was with the CN clan and had a 2000+ rating on the RM ZONE ladder in single matches. A couple of years ago, I ran over old hard disk backups and discovered some very old AoE 2 recorded games. In these, I spent 2+ hours beating the computer on medium difficulty. What a ride since then! My career started when I entered the random match option at the ZONE. Shortly after, I discovered MFO, build orders, DaRq_Jihad's "Road to Expert" series, and watched fast castle attacks from Out4Blood. Later came the infamous FLUSH area. I was friends with DaRq_Doink, LightninG_CN, and many other great and funny players. Then, I used to play many rated games and even tipped my toes into DM games. I also had many Smurf accounts to play different types of game styles, especially to play team matches with friends who weren't as good as players as I was. As a 1850+ you weren't allowed at "No Eperts!" rooms, and vice versa my friends wouln't stand a chance against 1850+ players. This was not to cheat on rookies; we played 2vs3 or 2vs4 at times. Also, I tried a lot of bogus strategies that wouldn't work against more formidable opponents. Late castle attacks were basically called off after the rising dominance of FLUSHing, and to this day, I enjoy castle attacks the most. Great times!
