Great sounds! Thank you for making. Is there a way to adjust breath sensitivity of the patches in Surge? They worked great out of the box with my EWI5000, but I have to blow so hard to get to reasonable dynamics. Many of the built-in patches are way more sensitive, which I like.

hi as many times was said here - it's one of best review on this thing. and maybe - the best ) I attach to this opinion, and want add a spesial thant for pay atantion on a question bluetooth and usb connection, and worting with DAW and synths. almoust no one (whos I have seen on this moment) didn't lite this side of this story. thank you! ps did finde desision on gap between notes? pps if not, maybe here can halp some vst MIDImodificator with function 'hold note' for some milliseconds, wich plase before synth vst ppps :) did you use it with some sample library of some wind instrument (in KONTAKT for example)?

guy, i have an akai 5000 ewi that i am pretty sure is broken since the response sucks after travelling with it in my luggage without case! my mistake but, now i am interested in getting another type of wind synth replacement. my question is, which one would you suggest? thanks for any advice!

damn terrible for Akai to produced the garbage called the EWI solo!........i totally agree on all points that the evolution of the EWi should have been smaller, better process so we don't have to spend hours setting a convoluted menu. shitty primitive sound banks! to improve this thing, keep the metal body touch sensitive keys, rubber bite sensitive mouthpiece! wireless midi, etc........make an truly improved instrument, heck i'll pay 2 grand for one!

Really helpful video. I’m a trumpet player but have bought an ewi solo and really enjoying it. Some instruments on it are better than others imo. Jazz flute, alto sax, trumpet ensemble and oboe my favorites.

Did they ever fix the lack of key delay? I see no where to update via Firmware

Hello. I have one to one ewi dc02pro. It seems to me that the wind hole is very small. Too much pressure is required to produce sound, even at sensitivity level 1. I play the tin and low whistle and I can say that producing sound on live instruments does not require that much air pressure. I also have to blow partially past the mouthpiece so that I have room to inhale at the right moment.

Stef please get a new ewi5000. Nothing beats it on all levels. I love mine, and am on my second- which I’m taking better care of.

I wish you had edited such that all the sax clips were 1st & then flute clips 2nd.

My 16yr old wants a saxophone but it is too expensive. I plan to buy this first to see if he's really serious about it then buy the real sax later. Would this be good for practice? Or will he have to relearn everthing

I'm attracted to your 'modified EWI' (big guy with wii controller), but I'm broke and need to find something cheap to start with e-instruments. I hope this one will be a good item.

There is always something.. Mostly touch keys but some clicky buttons, Up and down but no side to side.. Come on.. it's like an extra line of code! They already have an I2C chip looking after the touch keys and the same chip that does up and down can do the other 2 axis. I am sure they purposely leave those features out so that they can come out with the new 'improved' or 'pro' version. Irritating when the instrument is 'almost' there, especially for $US 540.. It's a miss for me unfortunately.

It states in the online manuel that the battery is not replaceable. I find that very problematic. How long will the battery last? A rechargeable battery never lasts for ever. The battery on the AKAI EWI Solo for instance is replaceable.

Hi Stef. I hope you are well. I've been learning a lot about the world of EWIs via your videos and decided to buy one. I just ordered the EWI 5000 and will be purchasing your Electrowinds Vital. I love the sounds but more importantly want to support your hard work on and off camera. Do you think you will be releasing any more Vital preset packs in the future? While I will be learning how to build sounds myself I'd love to have more "plug n play" options too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I saw this video like 2 years ago and I've just revisited it and it's actually one of my favourite things ever - it's the reason I got into playing the ewi too

It seems that this R1 has only 20 sounds in presets, don't know how much we can load at max into it, and at which cost because it seems to pay 5$ per sound in app. Has anyone been able to play laptop DAW/Plugin Midi sound with wireless Midi from R1?

Humming in the breath sensor... tells you the unit is using a cheap MEMS pressure sensor. Cant expect a $30 MPXV5010 after all... lol
