Cute Gentoo Penguins 'playing tag'. Wait a minute who is chasing who? Must be penguins' rules... 🐧😉
This video is from my 2019 trip to Antarctica - visiting Petermann Island where is a breeding colony of about 3000 pairs of Gentoo Penguins. I spent hours watching their behavior and interactions with each other, their way to figure out who we were, how adults were feeding their youngsters, or how they were protecting their group from bird attacks.... It was so funny, interesting and entertaining, I just couldn't get enough. 😁

Antarctic Peninsula 2018 - Detaillee Island: During our visit of Detaillee Island I came across this adorable Adelie Penguin sliding on its belly which is faster and more efficient way for penguins to move than walking. I couldn't stop laughing how super cute this Adelie penguin was!

Gentoo Penguins at Petermann Island in Antarctica. They are such characters. Not afraid of humans, they are ready to examine those weird looking creatures standing in their way and even try if they could be possibly edible. I couldn't stop laughing watching this determined penguin to try figure out what I was. :-)

Swimming with Leopard Sharks in the shallow waters of La Jolla shores near San Diego. They are species of houndshark and considered to be totally harmless to humans. In fact it was so amazing to see so many just swimming around people who were standing in waist-deep water.

They can be very curious. Two of us were walking back to where we were staying when a mature king penguin literally walked up to me and introduced itself in penguin speak. I shouted a phrase in Italian. It must have liked that, as It hung out with us, barely an arm's length away. No fear. I sat on the ground so I could get some picks with the penguin close to its eye level. An enlarged photo is in my office. Named it Oswaldo. An unforgettable experience.
I love how penguins are graceful swimmers, ice sliders, and funny walkers.

Thank you very much, this footage is amazing, very detailed, much better than TV stations that do documentaries. I want to create a 3D animation soon with 2 penguins (1 Gentoo and 1 Adelie) and this movie helps me a lot as a reference to see exactly how they look in detail from all sides.

That’s not hair. Those are feathers. Most birds molt and shed their old feathers at least once a year. These penguins are probably close to adulthood as most penguin species have baby feathers which make them look different than adults. Very cute babies!
