Glad you appreciate these gems(more to come).These private recordings are unknown to Richter himself I would bet.Yet he would have disapproved any publication since he was never happy with his performance...so we will be the judge. Take OP111 from Beethoven:we all know the radio released recording of Leipzig.But this sonata was taped many times and most are equivallent to the Leipzig -to me anyway.

Not true! Katchen was not the greatest! More colorful beautiful piano sound than Katchen=Wilhelm Kempff Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Artur Rubinstein Vladimir Ashkenazy Grigory Sokolov! More genius than Katchen=Sviatoslav Richter Solomon Cutner Grigory Sokolov Maurizio Pollini! More powerful louder than Katchen=Mikhail Pletnev( Prokofiev piano concerto no 1 by Pletnev!) The Second Loudest was Lazar Berman! The 3rd Loudest was Erwin Nyiregyhazi! Horowitz his technique was better than Katchen's technique!!

yes it is Richter.Drawings made by a painter from photos out of old bulletins.

I saw Richter twice:in 1975 in Belgium with the Beethoven Hammerklavier and in 1992 with Scriabine(short pieces) and Beethoven sonata n°31 op 110 I have almost all his "pirate" recordings!
