Life's getting in the way atm.... This video starts before Dowlais top and goes to Hirwaun by missing oot the A465 to Cefn Coed.... Instead going down the A4060 and up the A470 to Cefn Coed... And then I've speeded up the queue bit going up the hill but with other queues left in their entirety. I'll hopefully have some more time soon to start posting more new videos.

Not the seafront or the town centre....St Ives,ENGLAND real-time drive-through
Moved here from Dorset 36 years ago, best decision I ever made. My daughters were born here and had degree of freedom not found in many places these days. I am able to look at that view everyday come rain or shine when I walk the dog and no matter the weather it’s always beautiful. In fact as we drive down over the top of Grizedale and Millom is laid out before you on a glorious summer evening it takes your breath away my kids wait for me to say “ look at that, that’s why I made your dad move us here” I say it so often it’s become a family joke 😊
Looking good
About time they finished the work, liked this video
Commentary please!!!
Ah... Thanks for the request. I've just progressed from silent to soundtrack.....its on my to-do list now :-)
Lovely scenery, thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it.
This town is fortunate in that it has a bypass unlike poor old Towcester in Northamptonshire, an old market town, where the A5 still runs through the centre of town. When the M1 is closed all the traffic north and southbound clogs up the town.
It is, and the benefits are clear to see. I shall be visiting Towcester soon too..video will follow :-)
Love the ride through Midland Country-side
Warwickshire in particular has some fantastic country C roads that are better quality than many A roads in other counties.... The Romans helped with their extra wide verges.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN BAD DRIVERS CAN'T SLOW DOWN WHEN TOWING ANYTHING!!!
Its not something the police or traffic officers seem to enforce....A ball hitch is not reliable at these higher speeds...usually just for stability.
Never ever seen something come detached from a tow ball. I bet it wasn’t on properly.
That caravan's a keeper - great homing instincts!
You can see from the close up at the end that the caravan is still attached to the tow ball. The entire towbar has become detatched from the car. Breakaway cable was probably attached to the towbar so the emergency brake never activated. If the car had stopped 2 metres further forward, the caravan would have continued into the bushes with minimal damage.
He almost got away with it, if only he had stopped a bit further along. Caravan didn't have enough room to pull in.
starting to take shape now, thanks for the updated videos keep em coming
What was the reason that the caravan got detached from the vehicle?
The police did not disclose that information to me in their thanks letter.
🤯
There’s another Range Rover towing to hope he doesn’t have the same luck😅
I don't trust the ' new ' style of stabilising ball hitch , I use the ' old fashioned ' style ball , with a U J locking device which locks the cup onto the shaft of the tow ball plus a seperate stabilising bar , and I've replaced the steel rope with a heavy grade chain on the emergency brake , my caravan is an old heavy Tabert and I pull a car trailer also , neither of which I want to lose . Problem often is that people use their caravans once or twice per year and don't bother with simple safety checks before they leave home
Thank you for your reply, I only know the 'old type' you are describing and will have to read up on the new type. I'm just glad it seems no one was hurt and I hope my video will help ensure others do those safety checks you mention.
Safety cable didn’t look right, certainly failed in a big way if it was attached, and then to let it just roll into your car
Breakaway cable did what it's designed to do, snatch the brakes on then break...caravan handbrake is fully applied.
Its amazing (or worrying) how long the caravan carried on moving, even tho brakes were applied after it detached.
It was very scary even though I was far back...
Great thanks enjoyed the music too.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback. Appreciated.
I was just thinking about this lol good video
I hope to be doing another soon too!
A relaxing drive with nice music. Great view from that height, thanks
Thank you too! ....I've just started adding backing tracks so its great to have the feedback.
I live in Newquay and at Trevemper, they've just taken down the temporary traffic 🚦 lights.
Yeh....at last! ... Lovely place to live too.
This is nice 🙂
Can't see the point of all the cones on the Chiverton section westbound. The road looks to be complete. If anything they seem to be causing an obstruction with traffic joining from the new chiverton junction. I hadn't realised how far away from finishing large sections of the road. Thanks for the vids - great update.
Cheers, its great to be able to share. You are spot on with the Chiverton section, and that was at a quiet time....They need to make it 2 lanes at least from the exit of the Chiverton roundabout.
Jesus was born in Wales
Check out the Llywel Stone & its Pictogram.....Its freaky and some say depicts his journey to this area!!
I actually don't mind the driving noise
I live here, nice to see it immortalised
Thanks.I am very fond of Shotley, a surprisingly peaceful place and loved walking along the 'prom' and out past the marina, another beautiful part of Suffolk...I hope to be back soon to walk & film again.
God's own country, lived here all my 52 years, have fished many many times from that location and surrounding area, have dug worm and gathered crabs on the sands, a great place to live and one of the best views in the country Imo
Its stunning & another really special thing is watching the tide fill & empty the Duddon sands. Magical.
Oddly enough I walked across that viaduct today for the first time ever. The traffic at the roundabout at Cyfarthfa was backing up because the road to Dowlais Top was closed again, so I thought "why not." First...
Yes, something I want to get around to doing too.
Great video as always. I look forward to these every month. Although I do regularly drive the route myself sometimes it's nice to see the progress on video in a way that's difficult to do while driving.
Glad you like them!......Same here, I see so much more watching the videos than when driving.
Well done Millom stood your ground on a certain subject.
Why is this 12 months late why are we so bad at building infrastructure
Each drive-through the size of the workforce is seems small for such a project.
@@roadsandthingsthe fine for finishing late is less money than employing the workers you need to finish on time, same for any road project anywhere in the country, none ever finish on time.
You should have gone up the new A465 onslip at the rhigos towards Neath
Yes, next time maybe....It was covered in the December video much as it is now.
@@roadsandthings they've probably added more like street lighting, signage, road markings, I'm just curious that's all
Unbelievable! Still loads more to do? nowhere near finished, looks like next Xmas is your time for a first full drive?
They say 2025... so It could be 2 Christmases away!!!
Excellent as usual,thanks
Thanks, decent weather this time too.
I didn't realise how much could change in just over 3 weeks, Nice video
It was a surprise, the interesting bit that has also advanced but not insight so much is the digging out to go under the bridges at the Aberdare turning... check out the westbound video soon for that
@@roadsandthings I will
I am not sure as to what stop you're referring to in this clip. Only stop i can see is on Finkle st. The rest of the clip is just a drive out in the country side, and i am a bus driver.
I've amended the description to include a click where the Bus stop is in Main street, just around the 90 degree bend from Finkle street. Sedburgh hasn't a lot of space around there but I imagine a rainy November late afternoon , getting dark and trying to wait for a bus there....The bus stop only needs to be moved 50 feet back & on the corner by the entrance to St Andrews, where there is a wide pavement and plenty of room to wait.
Lived here and loved it
I am quite taken with the town, its relaxed and has some wonderful countryside/beaches nearby and some amazing birdwatching opportunities.
Thanks for these video, very interesting to follow
Thanks, my pleasure.
was it on sunday morning. I didn't see such a empty roads looong time :)
YES! It was meticulously planned to be so,....... though I had to cut the journey in half as I did intend to drive the whole road from Barking but there was well bad congestion at Redbridge due to barrier repairs that morning!
As it's the main road through Cornwall, I think the A30 should be dual carriageway all the way to Penzance.
That would be beneficial for St Erths and Ludgvan.
The YT algorithm offered this view to me first before I was able to watch the Front View. Good work, but as someone who's fairly local (South Petherton) it's difficult to orientate myself with this view - your Front View video is much easier to understand.
Thanks for that!..... its hard to know what works best and I've tried a few different ways , do you think including a thumbnail front view helps like in this video? ua-cam.com/video/gTqaY17MsXo/v-deo.html
@@roadsandthings Definitely!
You were lucky with the traffic!
Yeh, my good planning!! though its a shame as I was intending to drive from Barking ...but there was a very congested section due to barrier repairs just before the M11 so had to ditch that bit.
Another case of classic civil servant - Department of Transport thinking, rather than just widening the road by a few feet to create a proper dual carriageway and future proof the road, lets save a few pounds, make it less safe and then spend millions thirty years later rectifying the mistake, Illchester bypass is another classic mistake.
It is a really really interesting area for road expenditure, around Redruth and Cambourne, with some impressive viaducts superseding themselves too.
One ☝️ day ALL roads will be like this, Oh I’ve just seen a pig 🐖 fly over.
This makes a before and after, i remember my family and I used to travel on this road as a shortcut to the midlands from treherbert back before even construction began on the tredegar to brynmawr and gilwern sections
I will be uploading more of the A465 from the recent past, including the old A465 past ebbw turning.
@@roadsandthings is it the A4281
When the current upgrade between Chiverton to Carland Cross is completed the A30 will be dual carriageway from Junction 31 on the M5 to this point (Camborne West Junction). Come peak holiday season I can envisage traffic volumes constrained into this narrowing section causing significant tailbacks. I also predict big problems at St Erth where new (2023?) traffic lights have been installed?
They already are constrained, heading down to the Hayle roundabout near st Erths there are often 5 minute queues... and thats autumn/winter.... and a lot of diving off through Hayle to avoid which is not good for Hayle.
Some cheap properties in Millom. Surrounding areas look good.
Millom has the road and rail links, nature reserves and views....some good building blocks for a better quality of life.
@@roadsandthings good to know!
Sad to see what's happening now
@@Gibbo1 unwanted guests?
@@winstonsmith3690HMO full of unemployed and unwanted males in a quiet village just ain't gonna work
It will be fantastic when its done, now all they have to do is sort out the Ilchester By-Pass and make it a proper dual carriageway, put some flyovers on the various A303 roundabouts and finally sort out Stonehenge. Should be done by the end of the century.
It needs simple grade separated junctions, Ilchester bypass would work without the bottleneck roundabouts...I do hope it won't be that long but I fear you may be right!
