My SV04 has FW V1.1.4. I have a lot of experience in using a 3D printer. So I was careful enough to test how it moves in different modes, before even calibrating it. I found out that it's G-code parser is behaving very strangely. For example: if you put G28 G29 into the g-code file, after it, it forgets what mode it is in and forgets the X home position of both heads. Or in single mode 2, after G1 Z20 move it forgets that you have chosen the second head and strats moving the first one and with a wrong home position. Or the first move command doesn't care about the Fnnn parameter... Also why is it making a half a second pause after a planar move and before a Z move (and yes I don don't have any Z hopp or similar enabled)... So if I wanted to slice with my Slic3r I would have to carefully edit the code to make sure the printer doesn't start slamming one head into another or into the sides. Normal use of G-codes on an original firmware is simply not possible. (I will have to install the community improved FW). Luckily the tramming procedure worked totally fine on mine. But again, I had to remove the G29 ABL command from my g-code files and only leave G28 after which the printer automatically reloads ABL data that you save during tramming.
Can you give me the plc program and drawing of the machine, please? thank
that SV04 still treating you well?
I just ordered one and cancelled because of this video, thanks for the headsup
Just stumbled onto this video, I have a similar VFO, are you still using yours, I'm about to purchase a floppy emulator like the one in your machine.
Hello, what problems are you having with the sled and the rails? Gap stuck etc?
You need to know what materiel you intend to machine and also how heavy cuts you intend to take. Looking at this motor,in my own judgement, I would go for it. I like this project. Lots to tinker and certainly unusual.
Would be nice to do a review on the HTP welder as you had it for so long.
Mine works. Have had it about a year and print a lot with it. I ordered mine off Amazon and came with the upgraded metal extruder throat tubes for hotter temps.
Hi, i want to order one from sovol for about 370$ do you think it is still worth it ?
Dude, don't know how UA-cam recommended this to me, but I reckon if you put more descriptive titles on your videos, you would take off with views! Just my 2 cents worth from Jason in Australia
oh, and also better thumbnails! Not having a crack at you, genuinely want to see yuo succeed
@@jasonmcbride I appreciate the feedback, I usually just dump whatever I do to UA-cam as an afterthought. I stay way too busy and just haven't spent the time to do better at this stuff.
this is just inexperience with printing as a whole i made mistakes when i was learning i you tubed googled a lot watched a lot of videos, this IDEX printer needs to be done the right way there isn't multiple ways to make it work its design kind of requires it to be done right to print good and correct, if the calibration/leveling is not done correctly to a T it wont work correctly ever, The Z height was not saved that's why the thing dug the bed surface, This being said the build plate is junk, when i bought my SV04 i never even used the stock one after feeling it i could tell it was junk i have a metal spring steel pei one that works like the others on my printers. Buy that bed surface, Go through and re-calibrate from scratch your printer follow guides ensure to level the x first with the spacers they have once you do that and set it up correctly you will get good prints. I have had mine for 2 months have not had issues at all yet, i do have 10 years experience building cnc machines (lasers, printers, metal/wood cnc) but i think you can get this to be a decent work horse like you wanted just take super slow careful setup steps. dont rush anything. Cheers
Man tou are missing out. When properly calibrated the SV04 is amazing!
great stuff! I love turning a $5000 brake into an $80000 brake! I also want to set my brake up to bend at an angle, if you know the dist between the stops it should be a piece of cake. I wish I had your knowledge of controlling and running the stepper motors its still all Greek to me!
I bought an Ender 3 V2 as my first printer. Downloaded a Benchy STL, sliced, printed...flawlessly. That was my first print, my first slice, and my first 3D printer...zero problems. That kind of set my expectations for 3D printers. Yes, I read the manual...such as it is, and I knew to level the bed. It was just so easy. I liked it so much, I bought 2 more and haven't had any problems w them, either. I would like to print water-soluble supports which is why I'm looking for an IDEX printer. And the Sv04 seems it would do for me...but this video....
What tractor is this
same thing happening to me, ever figure it out?
What coolant are you running?
Holaaaaaa. Cordial saludo.
Looks pretty good! Quick rapids + nice uphill vertical welds. Always wanted to play with welding robots. Hope to do it in near future.
Maybe try to re-flash it? Looks like Marlin similar to what's coming on Enders.
Yes
that's awesome As an electrical engineering student im so interested on 3d printing and building stuff but unfortunately I don't have the equipment and friends who can help to get into these things soo im just watching I have just known ur channel from explore
If you tram it in like that it will be perpendicular to your chuck but not necessarily parallel to your ways probably should use what you have in the v-ways use a couple of gauge pins to align the new ways to the old then use a standard method of alignment for your chuck to your ways
i wish i had seen your review before i bought one mine does the same thing im forever re calibrating it. I have 4 other printers which are user friendly and work great, the adheasion plate is also rubbish nothing sticks to it,it doesnt work with the data cable either.
How was the return process…mine does not work at all. I haven’t been able to make a single print and I haven’t received any response from customer service after writing several emails.
I am the owner of 2 ender s1 pros and I am wondering does the sv04 produce the same quality or is it difficult to get good quality prints out of it ? Thinking of purchasing one just for different colours
Where did you get the fingers at?
I just got one that can’t adjust the second extruder. Is it the grub screws on the side that I need to loosen? Do I re tighten them after I adjust the z?
Trust me on this, get an actual power supply. It's gonna be way more stable than using a microprocessor board as your PSU. Makes the power rail way more predictable and that'll make learning electric circuits wayyyy easier.
I've got several on another bench, the one I was showing, I was taking back and forth to work and tinkering with it, but that is good to know, I am just getting started on all of this stuff. Thank you.
i built an arch high voltage machine, i made a mistake letting chat GPT do the code for me because i was lazy
Those are a good tough simple machine. That doesn't like wet ground.
You are correct, I love this thing
His video is called making a mcfueler
My friend made a cnc attachment that sits on the lathe. If you think about it you never really cnc anything bigger than a few inches. So why convert your whole lathe. But great work either way. I’ll find his video and send it your way
I don’t understand how you can have a shop full of machines and use brackets like that. If you think the bracket for the carriage moves with your hand, wait till the servo motor is on it. It’ll probably flex 1/8”+. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a cnc machine when you’re getting 1/8” tolerances. I promise the factory dove tails are 1000% better than Chinese amazon linear rails.
You should just zip tie the carriage ball screw the the copper lube lines.
Having a lot of hands-on experience, when you actually solve real-world problems is waaay better than your average college degree.
any updates on this conversion???
I bought one of the sovol sv04 also and I have no power at all. Fuse is fine, I have power coming in through the cord and troubleshooting it looks like the power supply is bad. I have an Anycubic Mega and it's an awesome machine.
Printed Brno 2e single shot adopter the other day.
If you wanted a cnc lathe, just go and buy one. It's like trying to make your own car. You are just going to end up with some hacked up piece of shit that doesn't work that well. Same thing with making a cnc lathe, these companies have spent millions of dollars and spent thousands of hours of research to make something that actually functions reliably and precisely.
I have the same tractor and want to do the same as you with the hydralic's. I would love more info like where did you purchase your hydraulic solenoids and wiring configuration with the joystick and diodes?
Sounds like you got caught out with not saving the 'Z' height before printing. And incidentally you're not the only one to have done that.
Did you get octoprint working?
The issue with parts that snap together is clearances will vary from printer to printer. If your coming from machinging background clearances are disappointing from 3d printers.
I like the idea of a slicer that breaks up a print tho
I've been impressed overall, but going in I expected worse tolerance from them, so my expectations were pretty low. Overall I'm glad I got into 3d printing.
Similar experience with the JG artist D. Also a terrible experience.
Is Tina good for beginners?
I love my Centroid Oak Converted Mori Sl1h! I have a new turret issue I am now working through after 2 years of solid use. Thanks for the video!
Did you do the retrofit?
@danpoole9327 No I purchased it mostly compled and functional. It did need a few small details sorted. But nothing big
I wonder if you just got a lemon? I've been wanting to get this so bad.
you should look at delta printers and klipper
